The below is not something written by me, but more rather two pieces out of a set collection of pieces. Apparently out of 2538. If you can find any other pieces, or a link, it'd be much appreciated.
In any city, in any country, go to any mental institution or halfway house you can get yourself to. When you reach the front desk, ask for someone called "The Holder of Purpose." The man at the counter will laugh at you until he cries tears of joy. And then he will stop abruptly, and return to his work. You must then ask him once more, in a demanding tone of voice. He will then look up at you, wearing an annoyed expression. He will reply to your demands with this, "If you must see him, then follow me." He will then get up and guide you to a door near the rear of the building. He will open the door, beyond the door way will be a faint light illuminating a room that seems to extend on infinitely. He will then motion you to enter with his hand. You must enter, and when you do, the receptionist will slam the door shut behind you.
At first you will be bathed in light, but it will begin to fade quickly. As this happens, you must move quickly forward. For if the darkness envelops you, you will be forever lost to the world you just came from. As you move forward, the light will follow you. You will not see it, but eventually you will begin running on a gentle downward slope. You must continue until you reach the bottom. You will know you have reached the bottom when the ground beneath you levels out. Then, the ground beneath you will glow a blinding white.
After twenty seconds, the glow will fade, and the ground beneath you will be transparent. Through it, you will have a bird's eye view of a gigantic chess board. You will be standing directly over the center. The white pieces will be arrayed behind you, and the black ones to your front.
Then, suddenly the pieces will warp into formations of troops in an army. The white pieces will become an army of men, the king being a general clad in refined plate mail. The other pieces will take the forms of various men at arms. The black pieces will take the form of hellish beings of indescribable horror. Their very appearance making the soldiers of the white army shake in place.
The sound of a trumpeter heralding to battle will be heard throughout the space. And the battle will begin in earnest. As blood is spilled upon the board, it will begin to change to earth. Grass, flowers, trees, rocks, and hills will rise from the board.
You must watch the battle in its entirety, for if you do not, the ground the keeps you high above the battle will shatter. Leaving you to fall into the fray below, and should you not die on impact, than you will most certainly be cleaved in twain by the armies engaged there.
Soon, the ranks of the white army will begin to thin, the ardor of men damped. Their lines will begin to give way to an unrelenting assault by the demons. The general will soon by the only man left. He will fight savagely against the beasts, wielding a broad sword with serrated edges. He will continue to fight and slay all that dare challenge him until the demons break and the inconceivable happens. The remnants of the demons will flee in terror at the sight of the blood soaked warrior.
When the final beast has fled the field, the ground will turn black, and you will no longer be able to see the field below you. At this moment, the light that you had to outrun will illuminate the room you are standing in. When you look up, you will see the general in front of you, holding his bloodied blade at his side.
He will then make a slash at your face. You will be frozen and unable to move, save for your mouth and vocal chords. The blade will nick the tip of your nose. Once this happens, you must ask him this question, and nothing else: "Why do you fight?" The general will not hesitate to answer, and will reply, "To protect."
He will then ask you a question in kind, "What is your purpose?" Should you answer with anything other than, "To survive." he will slice and dice your body. You will remain conscious as he does so, but you will be unable to feel pain. When he has finished, he will tap you lightly on the forehead with the flat of his sword, and your body will fall to the ground in a thousand pieces. It is then that you will feel pain; your body unable to die, you will lie there in pieces to suffer unending agony for all eternity.
Should you respond correctly, he will smile and sheath his sword. He will then present it to you as a token of his gratitude for bearing witness to his victory. Take the sword as presented, and you will find yourself in a field outside the city you were just in. The body of the general will take on the form of a pile of unearthed bones on the ground before you. The blade will be sheathed and rest at your side.
The sword is object 134 of 2538. And with it comes the strength of purpose. Will you flee, or will you fight?
In any city, in any country, go to any mental instituion or halfway house in you can get yourself to. When you reach the front desk, ask to visit someone who calls themself "The Holder of the End". Should a look of child-like fear come over the workers face, you will then be taken to a cell in the building. It will be in a deep hidden section of the building. All you will hear is the sound of someone talking to themselves echo the halls. It is in a language that you will not understand, but your very soul will feel unspeakable fear.
Should the talking stop at any time, STOP and QUICKLY say aloud "I'm just passing through, I wish to talk." If you still hear silence, flee. Leave, do not stop for anything, do not go home, don't stay at an inn, just keep moving, sleep where your body drops. You will know in the morning if you've escaped.
If the voice in the hall comes back after you utter those words continue on. Upon reaching the cell all you will see is a windowless room with a person in the corner, speaking an unknown language, and cradling something. The person will only respond to one question. What happens when they all come together?
The person will then stare into your eyes and answer your question in horrifiying detail. Many go mad in that very cell, some disappear soon after the meeting, a few end their lives. But most do the worst thing and look upon the object in the person's hands. You will want to as well. Be warned, if you do your death will be that of cruelity and unrelenting horror.
Your death will be in that room, by that person's hands.
That object is 1 of 2538. They must never come together. Never.
