"Ooof, what's this? Yuck.." Chi dug through the many boxes littering the basement of her house, sweeping aside the many cobwebs (ewww), looking for something interesting..anything at all. Some of the boxes were marked: baby pictures, winter clothes, some of father's sparring equipment..she passed by all of these, venturing into the unmarked boxes as if on a treasure hunt. It was mostly junk, old papers, some toys...but the brunette girl hit the jackpot when she stumbled upon a small blue plastic bucket. "What's this?" She asked herself (as there was no one else around at the time), looking inside to find a plethora of mini colored cylinders...sidewalk chalk.
Considering her find for a moment, she ventured back upstairs into the light, squinting slightly from the change in light. "I'm going outside!" She called to no one in particular, walking down the entry hall and out the front door. Down the steps and along the stepping stone walkway she reached the front sidewalk, the world's transportation for feet, that of course has been scarcely used since the invention of the automobile.
The girl sat crosslegged on the edge of the grass, facing a blank white square of contrete, and tipped the dusty blue bucket over next to her, the rainbow of arty goodness spilling in a pile by her side. She chose a piece of chalk, her hand (left to be proecise, as it was her dominant one) already smeared with color, as was the mystery of sidewalk chalk that made the experience so great, and began to draw, pouty lips prused slightly in concentration.

Sadly, the transportation of said feet were in use by another person, it wasnt because he needed to, gods no. He had a cherry red Viper SRT-10 sitting at home in his garage, the thing was, he just felt like taking a walk today, it wasnt overly hot out as it had been recently. As thus, the avid pounding of footsteps over and over would have carried louder and louder as he came closer. The sound of a set of metal encased boots falling repeatidly against the concrete of the sidewalk producing the low sound of clinking. The blonde haired male wearing those boots however, came upwards like a tower, just over seven feet above the ground to be precise, and from the peak of that tower came a set of blue hues shining outwards in search of the land infront of him.. of which came that female, who seemed to be drawing something on the sidewalk.
He didnt mind it, infact, as he got a little closer he would have stopped himself nearby, and crouched downwards, having lifted up pants a bit in the process to give a bit of room for doing said action. After which he looked over the drawing, lips pursing for a moment before slipping free of one another, allowing a soothing voice to free itself in the process of forming words, using the abundant use of structure overs ones mouth, having tongue shift and then those lips follow suit. Hands had set downwards as words came free, letting themselves settle lightly against his kneecaps, fingers spreading out evenly amongst the cloth material.
"Hello there... what're you making?"

Chi jumped slightly at the sound of a voice clsoe to her, a male voice at that. Looking up, she fixed him with unblinking brown eyes, chalk still poised in her hand.
"Oh, hello...you startled me.."
The girl gave a nervous laugh, looking down at the cement square in front of her. She had just started the base shading of what would be a gigantic tree...almost like the legend tree of knowledge. She had no idea what she was going to put around or under it..she normally didn't think about what it was she was drawing, it sort of just...happened. Pink bottom lip fell between her bright pearly teeth as she thought for a moment, tapping her cheek with a chalk covered finger.
"I'm not sure yet...it may be a tree.."
She replied, knowing that in that short explanaition it probably sounded quite lame, like a little kid drawing a bloated oval and calling it a dragon. But whatever.

"Mm, I guess I could see that coming from this point. I used to love drawing on the sidewalk when I was little. Never could quite figure out what I was doing though until I was finished."
With her own nervous laugh, he just smiled once more and slipped so he could sit down on his rear, legs folded up indian style and out of her way. Blue eyes following the shapes on the hardened concrete with the equally solid chalk which was being scraped onto said surface. Something clicked, and then followed with a open hand offered out, his smile back once again after having been calm and relaxed in regards of facial expressions.
"Mind if I draw with you?"
He asked, in what could be considered a friendly tone of voice, but still keeping with the soothing nature that ensued that lucid tongue. It was meant to be the kind to keep the persons own nature at heart.. he wasnt anywhere near as bad as he had made himself out to be, he just disliked it when students chose to raise a hand at him, and by telling it too them straight he had probably just let 90% of the student body he wasnt taking any of it either. A good thing to prevent injury and problem on both sides.

The girl tilted her head at him for a moment a confused look flashing on her face, he was a grown man, asking to draw on the sidewalk? Hmmm, interesting. She gave him a slight shrug. "Sure." She said, placing her piece gently on the sidewalk so it wouldn't mark and scooping up two handfuls of chalk and setting it between them. In two scoops she had the entire pile moved, and her hands were filty. She wiped them off on the grass before picking her piece back up and shading in the base of the tree.
"So, you live around here?"
She asked as she colored in part of a branch. He looked familiar, wasn't he a teacher at the school? He didn't look like an art teacher, but she guessed he was decent if he was offering to contribute to her masterpiece...or what will be her masterpiece..

A grown man? So what? Drawing was universal, not just tied to children, it carried over to teachers doodling on the chalk board or workers doodling on paper when they got bored.. its essential to survival in a boring situation. None the less, he took up a piece of black chalk, drawing in the outline of what looked to be a bird, flowing the lines out and coming from the beak upwards, curving around to make the birds head. Small holes in its beak provided the nose, and following it with a thin oval like set of ovals created the eyes.
" Yea, I live up the street in a house that looks kinda like a Dojo... weird but it feels more like home to me then some town house. "

Chi smirked at the explanaition of his house, that was pretty cool. She looked down at the concrete canvas, pausing to watch him draw. It was a nice bird, she thought to herself, nodding slightly before turning back to her tree, setting down the piece of chalk and trading it for a lighter brown. She began shading the highlights, smearing it a bit with her pinky finger to make it more realistic.
"Hmm..that's cool. I live right behind me. It's a nice enough house, kind of cold though."
She said, though she wasn't talking about the temperature. Her father was always training and the only time he really spent with her was during her sessions with him, her brother was off to god-knows-where, pursuing his dream to be just like his father, thogh she couldn't imagine why ...and her mother, she didnt' even want to get started on her...she unknowingly let out a small sigh as she smeared in the highlight of a branch, lost in this train of thought.

He finished up the drawing of that bird, and soon began to shade it in with a light blue piece of chalk, smearing the chalk in deeply to darken the shadows that would have formed naturally given the ones on her tree, and it seemed almost as if it would come to life, pulling free from the concrete to flee... speaking of animals, there was a distant howling, and a familiar white coat was flying up the path of that sidewalk, only to pounce onto Hiroko knocking him backwards.. there was a moments glance to a figure in a black suit, red hair like his own had been.. a familiar face.. he had dropped off Zaro as it seemed, as well as a few other known creatures moving at a less swift pace.. a red fox.. a grey squirrel.. and the largest of them all, a rather large lumbering black panther.. quite a sight since all of them were traveling together, but they had all been trained to be comfortable around humans..
"Oh boy... "
A slight chuckle and he sat up, prying the white female wolf off of him as she had been licking him face over and over. A simple stroke over her head and a light scratch to her ears had been enough to satisfy her as she laid down beside him, tail swaying back and fourth.

Trading the brown for the green, Chihiro had just begun to trace out the leaves when what looked like a hoard of animals came crashing in their direction. With a small shriek she fell backward onto the lawn behind her instictfully, but soon realized that this man seemed to know them. Sitting back up, she looked at the white wolf, to each of the other animals in turn, and then back to the man, a questioning look on her face. The green piece of chalk found itself abandoned in her hand as she gaped at the animals.
"Um, what..how..wh-?"
She asked, unable to string together a proper question, as no less than a million of them bounced around in her head.

"I apologize.. I had been expecting my animal friends here to be dropped off, I just wasnt sure how soon... "
Looking to them for a moment that black limo drove off away from the street.. the large black panther stopped right infront of him and stretched out, giving a long lick over his hand with its tongue and with which he let a soft stroke come over the animals neck before it settled down on the other side of him, settling head on its paws and closing eyes. The squirrel jumped from the back of the fox and landed on his shoulder, chittering slightly as it moved around.. leaving the fox to climb up and curl up in his lap.

Chi watched the display with a mixture of curiosity and facsination. Such a variety of animals, yet they are som comfortable not only with eachother, but with humans as well! Which is probably more or less expected since these animals seem to be his pets. A small smile graced the girl's delicate features, chocolate eyes softening as she watched them.
"Awww, cute!"
She cooed, though folding her hands in her lap to keep from petting them in case they didn't take to strangers like they did to him.
"What are their names?"

" The wolf is Zaro, the Fox is Aiden, the Squirrel is Bob, and finally the Panther is Sabal. "
He smiled as they seemed to look up at him with his name, and went right back to their relaxing, he of course was giving a soft stroke over the back of that black panthers neck, likewise with a slow pet over Aiden as he relaxed in his lap, curled up and getting ready to just dose off. They all seemed more then comfortable with him, the wide array of pets was more then enough to make ones head spin.

The girl smiled at all the names, they were nice...but giggled when she introduced Bob the squirrel. It was obviously meant to be funny, poor cute thing. He didn't seem to mind though. She began drawing again, though keeping her attention on the animals, still intrigued.
"Hmmm, nice names. I'm actually quite partial to the name Aiden myself, good strong name.."
She said, though the others seemed pretty srong as well, but she wasn't too familiar with them. She shaded in the top branches of the tree and moved on to another branch.
"How did they come to be your pets? If you don't mind me asking...it just seems a bit...odd of a combination."

"Well... I have had Zaro the longest, five years now, I got her back in New York, she was roaming the woods there, just a frail and hungry pup.. I took her in and brought her up from her little puppy state into a fully grown wolf. She was a mean little thing at first, but she got warmed over and eventually turned into my own personal companion and hasnt left me yet..
Bob the squirrel here is a year old, I got him when I was treking through West Virginia, I gave him a piece of apple, and the hyper little thing just wouldnt leave me alone, been a good friend since. Sabal the Panther is the second oldest at four years, on a visit down to south america with my cousins she was trapped in a little joint out of the way, we managed to get her free, and I fed her and got her back to full strength, she has always been docile, more lazy then dangerous, and finally Aiden here was a gift from grandfather, raised him up, and through this he has always been around for me."

Chi smiled, looking at each other animals in turn as he talked about them. As he told each little story about them, she could almost see it happening in her mind as he spoke. She still couldn't get over bob the squirrell, it was classic.
"Wow...that's really neat. I don't have any pets myself, my mom's allergic to practically anything with hair.."
She said with a shurg and a half smile frown. She had always wanted a pet for herself, a loyal friend that didn't sass back, or leave you alone all the time, or demand anything other than unconditional love..her heart ached a little bit as she saw the bond between the man and the animals.
"That's so sweet..."
