For religion, there answer is there is no such thing as an absolute right religion. The most practiced religions focus on respect and dignity towards other human beings. What religion in general teaches us is to lead good lives and be respectful to everybody else. Each one preaches the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. There is no such thing as a right religion. That's up to the individual to decide.
If Buddhism doesn't work for you, there are other faiths you can observe. This is coming from someone born and raised a Buddhist. One religion may work for someone and might not work for someone else. Doesn't matter what faith you are. They all want you to leave good and noble lives. Any congregation that preaches hate and intolerance should be avoided at all costs. Those are definitely not the right congregations to join.
The right religion is no religion. That has a double meaning. You could take the path of atheism. Or find what religion suits you the best. It's the same approach Bruce Lee did when he created the martial arts style of Jeet Kune Do. To many in the world of martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is considered a style. To others, Jeet Kune Do is considered a philosophy or a set of concepts dubbed as JKD concepts. Same thing can be applied to theology.
No religion is the "right" religion. That's no universal answer for that. It's an answer left up to the individuals and only the individuals. However, you will come across people who take religion to the extreme. There are plenty of Islamic radicals in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia. But they're just a very vocal minority and do not speak for the rest of the Islamic faith. During a community gathering in London, the moderate Muslims lashed out against the more radical Muslims.
In the United States, we have the radical Christians. And you have the moderate Christians taking action against the radical Christians. The radicals are vocal but they do not speak for the rest of a religious body. All the radicals do is give religion a black-eye. Do not let any radical fundamentalists deter you from picking whatever faith is right for you.
If it helps, you can apply Bruce Lee's philosophy on martial arts to your search for whatever faith fits you. There have been many atrocities in the name of religion. But those people were either misled or just hiding behind religion. Keep in mind each faith, there will be far more moderates than there are radicals.
