Basic Information[/u]
Name: Deryk Bayard
Age: 16
Height: 5'-10"
Weight: 132 lbs
Blood Type: O-
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Eye Color: Sky Blue
Hair: Blonde
Pass Time Information
Hobbies: Costuming, game creation, gaming, anime, reading, and writing.
Talents:
Deryk is rather good at making things, simple and complex. He tends to create more mechanical or electrical things, like tesla coils and computers, but also has a knack for making costumes. These aren't your typical "ghost" Halloween costumes, but rather more along the lines of, say, Starscream. He also has something of a knack for stage make-up and special effects, capable of making people look like zombies with nothing more than various colors of blush, toilet paper, and liquid latex. On the computer side of his talents, he tends to program his own mods for games, has made a few minor flash games, and seems to really enjoy "reverse-engineering" software code.
Favorite Things:
[/li][li]Custom gaming computer "Yuki". Named after a character from one of his favorite anime, his gaming computer is far more advanced than most mass-produced gaming computers, and costed him only a third of the price. Along with his customized software, his computer runs far better than any off-the-shelf crap. It's not much to look at, being only a standard black case and a 17" CRT monitor, but it's hard for kids to get funding for the fun stuff. He focused on performance first.
[/li][li]Costume: Starscream. It's STARSCREAM! Sure, it's base was cardboard, but it transforms and has a paint job that gives it a nice, slick, metallic look. A perfect tribute to the Decipticon's most ambitious soldier.
[/li][li]Chicken and Bacon Fried Rice. Yes, he cooks too.
Mental Information
Personality:
Deryk is most easily described as socially awkward. He tries to be cool, smooth, and downright sexy, but he fails a lot. For the most part, he just trips over his tongue while speaking anything more than a single sentence. Girls make him nervous, shortening his word per statement tolerance to two or three words. And depending on the person, he'll just get straight up flustered and just stutter some random syllable. Most people are tolerable in his book, but he does judge people tentatively before encountering them directly. Those that do earn his scorn find it hard to get any sense of civility from him, not matter how polite tries to act around them.
Fights get him about as nervous as his body could possibly allow him to. He has had plenty of practice, and is well-polished, but he lacks the confidence his mentor had. His body will visibly shake before a fight, and he'll crack his knuckles as obvious signs. But when he gets into a fight, he feels much more frantic than worried, rushing about in combat for optimal positioning and his mind blazes with a million strategies at once, each one tossed out almost the instant it's made. Though he keeps fear out of the equation, he does rush everything, often wasting energy in the process.
Mentality: Hasty, he'll get something done ASAP, even if it's not the ideal situation. That way he can get to things he cares about, like pwning that n00b with the uber-1337 h4x... And the pr0n...
Ideal: Just get it over with.
Belief: Believe as little as possible. Beliefs are hard to change, after all.
Physical Information
Deryk seems to have little volume. In fact, he looks like a classic school geek. He is one, so he lets the stereotype accusations slide. Although his build is thin all over, to the point where it is questioned whether or not he actually has an ass, he does have some muscular mass in there. It's nothing more than light toning, but it does keep him from looking like an anorexic. When he wears clothes though, it's tough to tell whether or not there is a body underneath. As such, only his hands and face are visible most the time, and his hands are rather unremarkable aside from his nails, which are worn down so often that he rarely needs to cut them. His face is probably his most memorable feature. He may be a geek, but he can have a rather stern look about him, thanks to his sharp jawline and eyes. Most often though, he will look soft and easily beat down, thanks to his glasses, inconfident demeanor, and bright blonde hair. His hair is also kind of unique, in that it reaches down to his nose in the bangs, is cut very short in the back, and features a several foot long rat-tail that's often thrown over the front of the shoulder.
Apparel Information
Some people change their clothes on a daily basis. Deryk is one of them. Cleanliness, FTW.
Fighting Information
Fighting Style: "Footie"
Years Practiced: 6
Description of style:
Deryk's first combat art was taught to him by his Navy Seal Grandfather, Maximillian Bayard. It has it's roots in American military close quarters combat. There is no need to use his hands directly with this style, so he can use it while his hands are occupied by a variety of things. It could also be used with a hand weapon as well. Of course, his main mode of attack comes from his legs, kicks and knees are frequent, aimed at hitting the lower body, to trip up the opponent. However, this does not mean he won't use his upper body for blocking, redirecting attacks, and opening up the target for a powerful attack. His two hands will usually be no further apart than the length of the chains on a pair of standard handcuffs, and his hand-based moves will most likely be double-handed.
History Information
History:
Deryk was the son of a company CEO and his mistress, and was the heir to Bayard Industries, a company specializing in making construction equipment. His father, Adrian Bayard, was the CEO of the company in North Dakota. Bayard Industries was bought out, when Adrian's habits of gambling, boozing, and other such activities caught up with him and threw him into a pit of debt and addiction. The mother, Karen Richards, was a party guest who basically had too much to drink and woke up the next day beside Adrian. After finding out what had happened, she had run away to Washington state, where her parents lived.
Dumped in a Tacoma orphanage until he was five, Deryk doesn't care much for who his real father and mother had been. Instead, he considers his adoptive family to be his real family by all means. Elena Wagner adopted him and wasn't given the right to change his name, because there had been no permission to do so given by his father or mother, even if neither of them would care. When he was brought home, he had a sister, Nella, who was responsible for taking care of him during the night when mother was out to work.
Raised in the suburbs, in the dead middle of financial levels, Deryk lived a somewhat hard life. Both his mother and older sister tried their best to get money together for his college studies so that he could get a comfortable life style and help them out a little. Elena worked a night job as a bartender in a small, but well-to-do joint in downtown Tacoma. Nella picked up various summer jobs, and became a legal assistant after a year-long internship. So while they paid out, he was seen as an exceptional student, reading by the age of three and grasping the basics of mathematics easily. Even then, it seemed like the weight of their world was on his shoulders.
His moments of solace were in the summer, when he visited his grandfather, a former US Navy Seal. He taught the young man military martial arts so he could defend himself in a school system that was gradually getting more and more violent. Maximillian became Deryk's idol, and the boy practiced the fighting style day in and day out, even adding in his own "special training" when he was older, which was really just an excuse for him to start playing Dance Dance Revolution.
As he progressed through school, his passion for reading grew, and his talents in the scholastic arts increased at an exponential rate. Mathematics and reading skills came to him with seemingly little effort, and the rest of his lessons were also rather easily learned. All the money his family paid out for his education was apparently going to be paying off. His family speculated that he would get some sort of high paying job right out of school. Something along the lines of being a lawyer, or some sort of entrepreneur. Either way, everything was looking up through elementary school.
But the harsh reality of the families decaying financial situation was setting in. Interest rates had gone up in the area, and so had inflation. But his mother received no increase in pay to compensate for the increase in bills. She had to dip into his college money to keep the bills paid, and by the eighth grade, Deryk's college fund was gone and the family was struggling to keep up.
About that time Deryk was thirteen, and felt the need to help the family that he cared for so much. At first, he mowed lawns and sold lemonade like any normal kid, but that was bringing in next to nothing. His first real break came when his neighbors began paying him to fix their computers and whatnot. Making a little business out of that, he helped his family just enough to keep them afloat. A lot of his time outside of school was spent fixing computers or lending himself to some difficult, technical task outside of the talents of his neighbors.
At fifteen years old, his mother had met a man that had the money to take care of them. He was Xavier Grey, a senior member of Lockheed Martin's research and development labs. Xavier was the assistant to the director of satellite technology development. Within four months, they had married and have had a surprisingly strong relationship. At first, Deryk wasn't very supportive of the hasty wedding. But with the current success of their marriage, he has warmed up to the man his mother loves. Recently, he hasn't been deeply involved in recent domestic events because he was sent to PHS 259 to finish his studies. Since having to leave his dear family, he's felt pretty torn up inside, but has never shown it on the outside. Every once in a while, he gets a letter from home that he'll read over and over again, and the letters arrival is the quite possibly only time he'll display his loneliness.

Item-Creation/Improvement Qi
General Qi Description:
Some people have an eye for detail, a hand held rock-steady, and a mind that just "knows how things work."Some others have a need to surround themselves with the latest and greatest in technology. And still others find their true happiness with nothing more than a screwdriver in their hand. Deryk is all of them, and his entire being is devoted to creating and improving the technology he is addicted to.
His Qi travels throughout his nervous system, and even extends into any item on his person. It's electrical in nature, but has an amperage so close to zero that even the most sensitive of electrical equipment is left undisrupted. However, when applied to his nervous system, the resistance fades and his Qi begins to trigger muscular motions with precision rivaling the most advanced machines.
Qi Strengths:
Deryk's Qi is always active, passively improving his abilities without disruption.
Qi Weaknesses:
Without his combat items, Deryk's Qi is nearly worthless in a fight.

This upgrade adds 5 to all beneficial stat bonuses, and reduces stat penalties by 5 (A +2 str, -3 Con item becomes +7 Str, -0 Con [no penalties can be made into bonuses]). In the case of percentages, the percentage is improved by five. The +1, +2, +3, and +4 upgrades must first be applied to the item before the +5 upgrade can be made.
* RP effect: Complete Technopathy. When touching an electronic device, Deryk can get strong signals pertaining to the device that will reveal the nature and detail of it's operation. He can communicate so well with electronic devices that his mind operates at their speed. He can understand binary code as it comes to him, and has a full operational understanding of any electronic data that hits his synapses.
