Hilaga't Timog Materials:
Timog 7 studs - $35 1/2 lbs Rubber - $50* 5 sheet metal - $1750 1/2 Miscellaneous Electronics $300* Total $2150
Hilaga 7 studs - $35 1/2 lbs Rubber - $50* 5 lbs sheet metal - $1750 1/2 Miscellaneous Electronics $300* Total $2150
Refillable Vials of Gasoline (can make 10 Vials with 1/2 gasoline surplus) 1 gal Gasoline - $175 1 lbs Glass - $200 Total $375
Customization: $2500 Item History:
- Minami and Hoku are twin, metal decorative war fans said to have been forged by a Japanese Craftsman in Northern Japan for a Daimyo in the early 1700's. It's first recorded appearance was in 1973, when it was sold to a man named Himaru Asahito during an auction. However, the man's house caught fire years later - and the two treasured fans ended up lost forever.
- Obsessed with the beauty and construction of the original, a Filipino craftsman from Northern Luzon created his own version based on several pictures he found at a museum. Useless at it may have seemed, he created it with the sole purpose of having holes where perfume seeped through a bottle and onto holes on the tip of each curved end for a "refreshing breeze."
- His invention didn't sell very well, and he ended up closing his business due to the market growing bad with time. He, then, sold the original creation, Hilaga and Timog to a woman named Layla Clavering.
- Layla gave these war fans to Emily on her 14th birthday.
Construction:
- The five sheets of metal are cut into 6 identical, picket fence shaped sheets with dimensions of 1.5'x2.5''x1/2''. The pointed end is dulled, with 1.25'' on either side. One of these sheets will be drilled neatly to make a 2mm hole in the center to the pointed end. The square end however, will be welded so that it provides a secure location for the vial of "perfume".
- This allows liquid to trickle out when the fan is fanned.
- Using the leftover metal, a large nail will be made to secure the sheets of metal into a fan shape.
- From here, the nail is engraved with an E, along with 7 diamond studs surrounding it.
- Both fans are made in this way. There is absolutely no difference in construction.
- The Vials are made with glass, They are shaped like an inverted cone, with a small screw-on opening for gasoline to tickle through.
Design:
- The metal mainly used for creating Hilaga and Timog is a special black tinted, assumed to be carbon-coated metal, giving it a beautiful sheen of black. However, for decorative purposes - each sheet of metal is lined with engravings exclusive to it's front side; The sea is engraved onto Timog, while Hilaga claims an engraving of the sky. For visibility of these engravings, ordinary metal is allowed to trickle through these engravings, lining them with a lighter colour for contrast.
Other information:
- Timog and Hilaga are kept in a convenient bag made of cloth weaved together by an Islamic tribe in Northern Mindanao.
- These fans have no ability or use by themselves, and work in conjunction with Emily's ability to create flaming winds. Vials can be filled with water instead of gasoline to produce freezing effects.
Weight:
- Hilaga - 5 lbs
- Timog - 5 lbs
- Vials - 2-5 mg. can hold around 3ml of liquid each.
- Tribal cloth - 3lbs
- Overall weight: 13lbs + 2-5mg
- Beginner Level: Default- Power 1: Fire/Ice related abilities of Qi/Items are neutralized by a strange power upon activation. Requires 25 CHA to activate for one thread/fight; disables one opponent's Fire/Ice related Qi/Item as well as Emily's ability to manipulate temperatures. 20 CHA will be needed to deactivate. Can only be activated/deactivated once per thread.
- Power 2: Fights done outdoors/large open spaces/crowdy area cause Emily's STR to increase by an additional
+10 +14 + 20
- Wielder receives
-26 -14 -3 Dexterity, -28 -15 -3 Constitution, -23 -13 -2 Intelligence.
Now, see the issue with waving around these fans, when fully opened, is that they catch air. This 'wind resistance' requires quite a bit of strength, which will initially be very taxing on the user, slowing down their movements, in order to get their fan attacks down correctly. And while flailing around as such, the user will appear and feel like a moron using fans versus people who have bats and other things as such. And of course, there is the natural weight to consider, due to the metal aspects of the items themselves... Well, well... someone had a lot of money to waste and so these fans ended up much less of a burden than anyone could've realized. Just a little bit of training could get this baby working well in no-time!
- Novice Level: Requires 40 Strength, 35 Wisdom, 40 Charisma.- Power 1: Fire/Ice related abilities of Qi/Items are neutralized by a strange power upon activation. Requires 20 CHA to activate for one thread/fight; disables three opponent's Fire/Ice related Qi/Item as well as Emily's ability to manipulate temperatures. 15 CHA will be needed to deactivate. Can only be activated/deactivated once per thread.
- Power 2: Fights done outdoors/large open spaces/crowdy area cause Emily's STR to increase by an additional
1.3x 1.5x 1.9x
- Wielder receives
-16 -9 -2 Dexterity, -17 -9 -2 Constitution, -15 -8 -1 Intelligence.
All of the former issues still apply. However, the user, with practice, can now carve up wood with their wind abilities via usage of these fans, due to the overwhelming amount of strength and battle experience acquired used to get to this level.
- Pro Level: Requires 45 Strength, 50 Wisdom, 47 Charisma.- Power 1: Fire/Ice related abilities of Qi/Items are neutralized by a strange power upon activation. Requires 15 CHA to activate for one thread/fight; disables five opponent's Fire/Ice related Qi/Item as well as Emily's ability to manipulate temperatures. 10 CHA will be needed to deactivate. Can only be activated/deactivated once per thread.
- Power 2: Fights done outdoors/large open spaces/crowdy area cause Emily's STR to increase by an additional
2.0x 2.2x 2.5x
- Wielder receives
-11 -6 -1 Dexterity, -10 -6 -1 Constitution, -8 -4 -1 Intelligence.
Due to the weight, the penalties are still detrimental at this level. However, the usability of their own techniques have gone up. Concrete is easy to cut through via wind strikes.
- Advanced Level: Requires 53 Strength, 57 Wisdom, 55 Charisma.- Power 1: Fire/Ice related abilities of Qi/Items are neutralized by a strange power upon activation. Requires 13 CHA to activate for one thread/fight; disables all Fire/Ice related Qi/Item (without discrimination if ally or not due to lack of control, still) as well as Emily's ability to manipulate temperatures. 10 CHA will be needed to deactivate. Can only be activated/deactivated once per thread.
- Power 2: Fights done outdoors/large open spaces/crowdy area cause Emily's STR to increase by an additional
2.3x 2.5x 2.8x
- Wielder receives
+3 +4 +6 Dexterity, +1 +2 Constitution, +2 +3 +4 Intelligence.
- At last, the user has attained a level of competence where the fans are no longer a hindrance, but more rather, a useful gift. A long road to get to this, but now the user has all of the above abilities, as well as the natural bonuses of growth.
- Master Level: Requires 60 Strength, 60 Wisdom, 60 Charisma.- Power 1: Fire/Ice related abilities of Qi/Items are neutralized by a strange power upon activation. Requires 10 CHA to activate for one thread/fight; disables all opponent's Fire/Ice related Qi/Item as well as Emily's ability to manipulate temperatures. 10 CHA will be needed to deactivate. Can only be activated/deactivated once per thread.
- Power 2: Fights done outdoors/large open spaces/crowdy area cause Emily's STR to increase by an additional
2.7x 2.9x 3.2x
- Wielder receives
+32 +46 +61 Dexterity, +34 +49 +65 Constitution, +29 +42 +55 Intelligence.
- While the user can not 'cut' through metal via wind, they can make deep scratches in it. More often than not, the impact of the wind should be more than enough to be sufficient. Attacking with the fans closed up would make it like two short swords even, with the amount of skill the user currently has.

Yes. It should be fine... I complain when I've overworked, and I seemingly put on a masochistic amount on my shoulders when there isn't enough.
