Andrew smiled at the two men and waved a goodbye, allowing mitsuki to take him to a secluded spot.
Then, she asked him the question his own mind was hunting for an answer to.
He turned away from her, not completely turning around or turning so that his side would be facing her, but just barely turning a bit, eyes staring off into the distance as he thought about the question. He didn't really know. He wasn't sure if he could tell her the truth. He wasn't much for having a soft side, though he had never felt this way about anyone before. He supposed he might have one for her, but how was he to know if she would stay with him, or break him like the few he'd let get this close before her. He figured he did it for her more than himself, but that only brought to mind the saying "Love is when that certain someones happiness is the key to your own", and that didn't help him in the least. He decided to ask a question instead of answer hers.
"How do you feel about me mitsuki?"
It was a simple question really, but was the same one she asked him, in essence. deep down, he knew why he did it. It was because she shared his pain, she cared when nobody else did, and showed him a part of herself that so utterly confounded his motor functions that when he thought about her lips against his he broke into a sweat.
Answering that question would be the most difficult thing he had ever had to do. Up until that moment, he had always kept some small part of his wall up, some small part of himself inside. In order to answer that question his full faith would have to be in her, and in order for that to happen, he needed to know how she felt. She had nothing to hide, he had seen her soft side, seen her walls down. Or at least he was pretty sure he did.
In order for him to tell her that, to answer that question, he would be giving away a part of him that he grasped tenaciously.
"And if its nothing more than friendship, why didn't you push me away. Why did you begin to kiss me back. You want the answer to that question, mitsuki? Then answer those first."
He looked back at her beautiful face.

She didn't pull away for multiple reasons. The pain she held was the pain he had - they were similar in so many ways, it was almost unrealistic. She had an infatuation with people before, but pushed them away in the end. She was afraid, essentially, of what could happen to them - so why wasn't she afraid for Andrew? Because he knew how to fight? The truth is, she was afraid for him, just as she had been for "Thrush". Andy was the past - something she didn't want to return to, and Vague...was it a one time thing? She didn't know where he was, but he was, technically, her first 'fling'. Or at least, it seemed that way, considering the way she danced with him at the masquerade ball.
"How do I feel about you...?"
She repeated the question, more to herself than others. Why didn't she push him away? Why did she almost kiss him back? She looked away - she never liked confessions, loathed them, actually. It was as if she were stalling for time, considering she answered him with silence. This was completely new to her. She wanted so many things, yet at the same time, didn't want them at all. How could she be with Andrew if she had been so unfair to those in her past? And better yet, she was not an open person. So if a relationship did start between the two of them...
She sat down, against the wall...
"If I said I liked you, what would you do?"

He heard her answer, and walked over and sat next to her.
"Id tell you that you shouldn't like me, and that you deserve better."
He looked over at her. It was true. She deserved way better. Better than him, the Andrew upstairs, anyone at that godforsaken school. She deserved the best. But who was to judge would be best for her? Him? he didn't know what was best for himself, let alone best for her. She was withdrawn, true, but she had a soft, inner person that longed to be held and cared for, no matter how much she denied it. He sighed heavily, wondering if those words had crushed her spirit, or if she knew by the tone he had used that there was more.
"But i guess it wouldn't be for me to decide whats better for you. While i think i am inadequate, i think you are old enough, smart enough, and strong enough to decide for yourself what you believe to be best. I wont deny it. I have feelings for you. I find myself thinking about you when i don't want to. It didnt start before you met me in that god-forsaken alley, but since then i cant stop thinking about you, and caring about how you feel. Caring about you in general."
Even if that question was just hypothetical, the answer was the truth, and he had not yet given away that answer as to why he had kissed her. In truth, he had kissed her because he did want more with her. He wanted to find her when she was alone and hold her. Sex was a trivial thing, and it didnt matter to him if they had it. He just wanted to be with her and share the experience of life with someone who has probably lived in as fucked up a world as himself.
To find joy in each others existence. That would be worth it.
He didn't explain all this, however, instead asking one last question before he decided to expose why he had kissed her.
"Mitsuki"
He would wait until she turned toward him. They were less than a foot away, he could faintly feel her breath on his face.
"Do you feel the same for me?"

She knew there was more, but still hearing those words come out of his mouth had, for a ghastly reason, hurt. She showed none of it though - rather, remained silent as he continued to speak. In the end, she was left more relieved than anything. The feeling of being rejected was horrible, yet she had rejected more than she could even remember. She wondered - did they feel worse than she did when she let them go? She stared at the ground, constantly thinking of the past - she shouldn't though, but couldn't help it. If she had accepted his feelings, what would she be doing now? Would she be a better person? Would he have stuck by her side, or she to his? She thought hard, silently, of all these questions that would remain unanswered. It was when Andrew called her name that she turned her head to face him, her breath being caught in her throat when she realized how close he actually was.
Does she feel the same for him?
She so desperately wanted to say yes. But did she really feel the same way for him? Or did she simply want someone to love? She didn't want to say 'yes' and find out later on that she only wanted someone to care for her. Didn't want to say 'yes' only to realize that she didn't. But she didn't want to say 'no', either, with the possibility of Mitsuki actually feeling this infatuation with him - that this feeling was genuine.
And if she did confess, would that mean that they were going out? And if so, then Mitsuki would want to keep it to the down low. A secret, if you will - but why? Thinking through this logically, she knew that there shouldn't be any reason to keep a relationship a secret, but until she got used to it...
She had been staring at his chest, avoiding eye contact during this whole time, and she finally picked up her eyes, as if searching for his own through his shades.
She hoped that his question would be answered when she leaned toward him, her lips pressing against his for a kiss that was, in her opinion, the return for what she didn't do in his car.

Her face went a little white after he asked her, her head turning but her gaze falling on his chest. He didn't mind, with the mental state he was in he could only imagine what she was thinking. She raised her eyes, looking into his glasses as though trying to see her answers there. He didn't know if she would find what she was looking for, but he didn't think-
Suddenly, her lips found his.
Time froze.
Now, here was an interesting situation. not half an hour ago he himself was doing this to her. The only difference between the situation in the car and the one out here?
He kissed back.
Time kicked back in as Andrew, almost reflexively, almost as if he had been expecting it, kissed her back. His right had came up and cupped her face once more, though slower, as though the rate at which his hand traveled added more meaning to it. He didn't know if, after that, they would be a couple, and if that was the case, he wanted it kept between them, and them only. He didn't want the attention, didn't want her in danger, and most of all, he didn't want her to get any slack for it, or any unwanted attention. If she wanted everyone to know, then he guessed she had that right, though he would explain to her what it meant to them both. If she wanted it a between them, then he would be relieved, finding them to be on equal ground about it.
This was all assuming...
They finished kissing, in which case his hand would come up, and take the small piece of hair that hung down over her face and tuck it into the rest of her hair. He would stare at her blankly, if only for a moment, then he would look at sky. After a short pause, he would look back at her and speak.
"Was that a yes?"

He kissed back.
If you asked her how the kiss was, she wouldn't be able to speak. There weren't words to describe this moment she was having with him. She could say that it was great, magical, beautiful even, but those words hardly even came close. He returned her kiss, feeling his palm on the side of her face, and she replied with her own palm resting on the side of his neck, if not just below his ear. She had been running out of breath, she was breathing rather harshly when they had finished, her chest near explosion. It had been a while since her last relationship, and this still felt completely new to her.
She stared at him. Baffled.
"Wasn't it obvious when I kissed you? It's a no."
Though it was meant to be sarcastic, Mitsuki spoke in her normal tone of voice with that stoic expression of hers, as if she had been completely serious. Though she stared at him, a tiny, tiny frown on her face.
"Three things."
Mitsuki started.
"This is between us."
That was the first thing.
"Shades off when we're together."
That was dos.
"I'm a female. I can get jealous if I wanted to."

Andrew almost burst out laughing when she said it was a no. She had such a serious face when she said it, too. Ah, humor. How little, he used it nowadays. Hell, he never used it. It felt good. He turned back toward her as she listed off three things. Well, he guessed she had her mind made up. They were a couple. It was like a part of him had been missing, and found. His good side. His kind side. The other, the more dominate pain-riddled side still had control, but the part that had come out, now linked to her, made him feel...well, feel like he felt when she had kissed him seconds before. Sensational.
And that was an understatement.
"Well, in that case, i have three rules of my own."
He looked back at her, a small smile on his face.
"One, if one of us gets to the point where we want to share it with someone we're close to, anyone, we talk to the other one first. Two, if my shades have to come off whenever I'm around you, then you have to be completely open with me and share your thoughts with me when we're alone, since i already know that ill do the same."
He smiled.
"And thirdly, I'm a guy, so i can get jealous if i wanted to."
He couldn't believe that she actually felt the same for him as he did for her. He prayed, hoped, swore that this would work, that they would work, that it would be the one thing he had to invest in. She was truly the first person he trusted. When they were sitting there, like that, alone, he didn't feel any wall. He didn't feel any tension, any dam "holding back the river". He knew he could and would easily throw them back up, but with her....she can see everything. Anything.
He refused to look back, to wonder if he was doing the right thing.
This would be the one thing he wouldn't regret.

She liked his first rule, and his second rule was okay - his third, she might have a problem with. She slowly let a smile slip. Maybe, if they were still together by the time she had graduated, they can move far away from here, and live a peaceful life. It might be too much to ask, but just maybe she had something to look forward to other than college. In a week or two, she'd jump ahead to be a Junior, and because she had all her credits, she was sure it wouldn't hurt to graduate early. But there was always a matter of unfinished business, specifically with the school itself, and some people that attend. If she still had the title claimed, and would graduate, then she had to give the title to someone who was strong enough - both mentally and physically.
Perhaps it was time for an attitude change.
Slowly.
She leaned against him, snuggling up, almost. Hand reached up to take off his shades, another smile reaching her lips as she looked up at him.
Completely open and sharing her thoughts...
"When you hold me..."
How does she put it?
"It feels nice."

As her hand reached up to his eyes, he scanned around quickly, not moving his head but just using those eyes to make sure nobody could see them. There was not a soul in sight as she took them off and spoke.
When you hold me, it feels nice.
He wrapped his arms around her, and held her to him gently, snuggling up to her as well, that way she wouldn't feel so hesitant. His eyes, the ones that she loved to gaze in to, came and locked on to hers. He wasn't exactly sure what was to happen next, all he knew was that he would enjoy the time he had to spend with her before she would go back into her apartment, and him, home.
He was concerned, a little, about her brothers, what would they think, say do? Would they retaliate against him, attack him? If so, how was he to defend himself? Hurting them would mean hurting mitsuki, and as it stood there would be no way he could do that, even if he wanted to. This girl, the one he held in his arms, had just told him she liked it when he held her. He would never have imagined something like that coming from her, especially not to him.
He leaned back against the wall, his body fully in contact with hers, his heart nearly bursting from his chest as he looked down at her.
Oh, how he wanted...how he wanted....
He took.
His lips pressed against hers again softly, slowly, not as deep, but with far more tenderness and care and affection.
He feared she would hear his heart.
A thought came to mind, and he paused only briefly as he pondered it for a moment.
" I want you to see something"
He reached into his back pocket, pulling out his wallet. He opened it up, and pulled out a picture.
A picture of his baby sister.
He had never shown anyone before, but he knew her face would be safe with Mitsuki.
"Her name is Kaia. Shes six weeks old."

With Andrew, she almost felt like a normal, civilized human being.
But normal did not mean hiding a relationship from everyone for the sake of keeping your significant other safe. Normal didn't mean having purple eyes, or being near blind at night. Normal didn't mean having guns for the sake of shooting people, or having a title to keep things at peace. They were far from normal, but still with him, at this moment, she almost felt normal. She loved his eyes, loved how they could melt her - his unique eyes that reveals everything to her. She loved them.
She only had one brother: Reita. What she was keeping from Andrew was that Andy had been her first love. Well, not exactly keeping from him - if the thought crossed her mind, she would let him know, only because she had made an agreement with Andrew that she would be completely open with him whenever they were alone.
He kissed her, and again this unknown burst of this unknown feeling erupted. It was not as passionate as the two previous, but the way he had kissed her now, she liked it better, as if he were pouring his emotions into the kiss just then. She trembled when he pulled away, catching her breath as she peered into the picture he had shown her.
"She's beautiful."
She really was. A smile, soaking in the picture before looking up at Andrew.
"She looks like you."

Andrew smiled a small, almost sad smile, looking down at the picture and sighing as he tucked it back into his wallet. After putting it back, he leaned back in for another kiss but paused, ears perking up at the ever-so-faint sound of gravel being crunched under feet. He sat her back up, grabbing his glasses and putting them back on, a sort of aura coming around him as he pulled the darker, far less open Andrew around himself. He went over to the corner, then, as the shadow of the person finally brought the body into view, hiding himself around a block of stone that sat just before the corner and wall mistuki was at.
Andrew came out quietly, coming in behind the fellow with a stealthiness.
As the guy rounded the corner with mitsuki, Andrew kicked the back of his knee out, getting a small grunt from the large individual. He then grabbed the hair, and placed a knee in the mans back as he sent his face into the rocks. The man grunted and groaned, and Andrew finally realized who it was. He looked up to mitsuki.
"Your house guard is following us." He knew it was probably no fault of her own, in fact he was positive it wasn't. He trusted her now. He knew she wouldn't do that to him. The only reason he hadn't broken the guys neck was because mitsuki didn't like killing.
As long as she was around, anyone who troubled him would live.
He pulled the man back to his knees so he could face mitsuki, his free hand resting on his gun.

Just as he put up his defenses, she did hers. It was rather troublesome to see the guard snooping about, but she knew why he was around in the first place. She tapped her fingers on her knee, letting out an inaudible sigh, keeping her shoulders still to make it less obvious that she was dissatisfied of the situation. She looked over at the guard, standing up as she closed the distance between her, the guard and Andrew. Dusting herself off, she spoke in a nonchalant voice, nearly monotone, hardly even giving the guard a passing glance.
"So who was it? Andrew or Reita?"
["...."]
"When you report to them, let them know I'm coming home late, yeah?"
She looked over at Andrew, slightly nodding her head, as if letting him know that he could let go, and that the both should probably get going. Once they were out of ear shot of the guard... She pulled out her car keys.
"891-979-6117. Call me when you get inside your car."
It would make things less suspicious to her brothers if they went in separate cars. They'd figure that he would go home, and she'd head off to the school, where she always usually goes. But she wanted him to follow her. There was no real destination - all she wanted to do was spend time with him. It was as simple as that.

'Lucky bastard'
That was the thought that ran through his head when mitsuki let the poor man go. If it was up to Andrew, he would have answered to the spying with a withering response. He wondered if he was too ready to kill. Maybe it was good to lay off sometimes, to ease up. Not everyone could be after him, could they? No, such a thing wasn't possible. Still, he was that way for a reason. Cant ever be too careful.
He pushed the guard down as he walked behind Mitsuki. She gave him her number, which was immediatly and easily memorized, and a nod of his head to let her know he understood. He walked to his car slowly, as though leaving. As she got into her car, he fired his up. Reaching over, he popped the glove-box, his cell phone sitting inside. He had stored it in there before he went into the alley, wanting peace and quiet for the time being.
Who knew it would lead to one of the happiest moments of his life?
He dialed the number, saving it in his phone as he called her. He drove off , coming in behind her slowly to follow as he waited for her to pick up.

She picked up on the second ring, her engine roaring to life as she left the parking lot, checking the rear view mirror every so often to check if Andrew was keeping up with her. It was then when a wicked idea came to mind, and she chuckled to herself over the phone after she had picked up - then abruptly stopped. Huh. Did she just laugh? She frowned, feeling it to be rather unusual. The signal in front turned red, and she slowed to a stop, pressing the phone against her ear before speaking.
"First one to get to the first bridge on the interstate high way owes the other a favor."
And with that, she hung up, her engine bursting as she hit the pedal, not even waiting for the signal lights to turn green. There were no pedestrians or intersecting cars anyway, so why not? She had a head start, but she had no idea of what her baby was capable of. Reita won this car from a race, meaning that either the driver sucked, or he didn't coup up the car enough to make it a whiz on the road. It was a stick shift - manual - which she had to learn from Reita quite painfully, and might I add that it took a while to get used to.
She had to remember, though, that Andrew also had a pretty car.

Andrew, hearing the laugh come in over the phone, suddenly got a devious idea. Before he could so much as open his mouth to state it, however, Mitsuki spoke first, stating the exact same thing that was on the tip of his tongue. Andrew grinned. His Mustang Wasn't stock, he had built that bitch up to fly, but he knew the first time she started up her car that it was made for the same thing. He revved the engine as he was a block away from mitsuki, who was sitting at the red light. Oh, it was on. Thats when, not a second later, she gassed it, her car tearing through the stop light.
Oh, HELL no.
Andrew slammed the gas, the 500 horses roaring as he flipped a few switches. He didn't have nitrous, which he was proud of. This was all motor. It too, was a stick shift, but had a smooth glider, so after second gear he could just shift with no clutch. She had one hell of a lead. Her words went over in his head:
"First one to get to the first bridge on the interstate high way owes the other a favor."
He took a left, gliding into a small alleyway that left about six inches on both sides of his car. It was empty, as he knew, and since she would be taking a left up ahead, he would have gained some ground. He flew out of the alleyway into a one way, four lane road, the one she would be on. A semi was there, so he downshifted, alternating the clutch, e-brake, and gas to drift right under its trailer.
The top of his car barely scraped it.
He would come out at about two car lengths behind Mitsuki, should she have taken this route, which, of the ones he knew of were the shortest. He reminded himself that, although he had been here for a few years and traveled all over the town, she live here her whole life, and may know some tricks that he didn't.
Should he come in behind her. He would use that horsepower to pull up beside her and roll down the window, offering nothing on his face, but pulling down his glasses a bit a winking before slamming the gas as he pulled ahead.
It was then he realized the sound in her car.
A twin turbo.
Shit.
When first he pulled up along side her, he was confident that he would blow her away. After hearing that, however, he knew they're cars would be near equal. His still had work to be done on it, he had another engine kit at home he had yet to install that would add an extra hundred horses, but as it stood, they're cars would probably be on level ground.
So it would be a test of skill. Wonderful
He laughed, wondering which he wanted more.
Her owing him a favor, or the other way around?
