I thought about the same thing, for money for school.
However, I probably won't ever do anything until the current war is over, and even then, only the National Guard.
If you seriously are considering, do it, but make sure it won't ruin your relationship with your son.

I'm a US Army Reserve Soldier.
My mom is a recruiter and she put me in the army. I got a 19 thousand doller bonus, I didn't put college first in my contract, which would of been better for me since you dont have to even do army stuff until your graduate college and that counts as years in service, you get paid and the army pays 100% college tuition.
Even though I didn't put College first I most likely will not go to the so called "War" in Iraq, I'll be going to the resort in Afghanistan where we have apartments, theatres, wal-mart, subway, McDonalds. Plus an extra 1,000 dollars a month for sitting on my ass playing solitare.
AND They are paying 100% of my college. I am also being re-embursed the money for books and other small fee's.
If you want the FACTS about the army, drop me a PM with whatever questions you have, I will tell you the truth where a recruiter will lie to you.
