Description of Fighting Style
[/b]One of the few "no fluff" martial arts in existence, training in Krav Maga does not take place on a stage against a single opponent, but against multiple armed or unarmed opponents, in narrow corridors or public spaces. Krav Maga was developed in Israel, an area of the world not unfamiliar with war and death. All members of the Israeli military receive at least one year of mandatory training in this art. Alex utilizes this style's speed and deception, its ability to both block and counterattack at the same time, and, when necessary, its ability to swiftly kill an unsuspecting adversary.
Personality:
[/b]Outwardly, Alexander is friendly and engaging. He almost always presents himself as a harmless, though charming, buffoon. Occasionally, his mastery of psychology shows through in the form of deep insights into human behavior. He has a good sense of humor, and can be fiercely loyal. He makes friends easily, and tends to attract a following, which he would use if it did not risk compromising him. He is also unconsciously afraid of success, and dislikes public attention. He is quite comfortable in isolation.
Inwardly, Alexander is endlessly self-sacrificing and is interested in improving the lives of others. Thus, he is often generous to strangers--though he never trusts them. He always keeps the Big Picture in mind, and this combined with his strong intellect means that his intentions are often misinterpreted by those who are focused on the present.
Alex's history has given him a somewhat cynical and ruthless edge. He believes that he is carefully watched by many (see Alex's True History below).
Alexander prefers to avoid fights entirely, if he is able. When he strikes, he prefers to do so when the odds are overwhelmingly in his favor.
Alex has been taught the principles of secrecy and nonintervention, but this is not his natural behavior. Alex is in danger of becoming too well-known through the use of his natural gifts, and believes a confrontation with his masters is inevitable.

History (cover story)

What follows is supported by public record.
Alexander is the only child of two professionals, a research psychologist and a medical doctor. He was born in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and has maintained permanent residency there all of his life. From an early age he has received some of the best possible education the world has to offer. At age ten he was sent to the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. He learned Mandarin there due to private interest in Chinese history and culture. He proved to be enormously gifted in the sciences, and received a national award and published his first and only article in the Journal of Nature and Science. After this, his academic performance stagnated. One year later he failed a routine drug screening and was expelled.
Returning home to an enraged family, Alexander suggested that he move to California, under the supervision of his uncle, where he could attend a school with a more strict set of rules. He often tells his friends that his reason for doing so was because: "California is a better environment to grow up in than JHU ever was."

Alexander has only ever known his father, and of him he knows only that he once worked for a nameless organization as a researcher, with an interest in global economics. Alex believes his mother is dead, as his father stubbornly refuses to disclose her identity or discuss her in any way. He is not particularly interested in finding out the truth; as always, he would rather live alone.
During his youth, Alex was raised by a series of "caregivers," who imposed a strict regimen throughout his childhood. It was not uncommon for Alex to study from the time he awoke in the morning until late in the evening, beginning as early as age six. He was given access to whatever information he wished, but he was prevented from experiencing many of the activities that accompany childhood. He was allowed only to read about sports and art, and then only late at night. Because of this, as a teenager he constantly seeks out new experiences.
Alex did attend the JHU youth program beginning in fifth grade, but after receiving his award Alex was recruited into his father's organization. He was approached by a series of handlers, after which Alexander joined willingly when they promised to reveal to him deeper secrets that could not be discovered through normal channels. He was given minimal information about the organization's history and purpose, and of his father's responsibilities. He quickly abandoned his scholastic education, which Alex perceived as superficial, in favor of the study of deception, subtlety, and observation. He elected to receive a year of martial training overseas in Krav Maga, which qualified him to perform menial tasks of enforcement. He has since been unable to contact his father and has discovered that his Manhattan home has been sold. Upon returning to the States, Alex received a transfer notification from his former high school to Public High School #259. Included in the letter was a note:
"Your studies will continue in a place where extraordinary men are created, those that will someday will shape the world through their actions. Learn from them all you can. Know them better than they know themselves, and report what you learn."

Other belongings of note:
[/b]Modified Taser: Protruding from the index finger of Alex's right leather glove are two tiny metal leads, wired to a voltage-multiplying, low amperage circuit and a small lithium polymer battery. The device is sewn into the glove and is protected from water and compression, though significant impact will break the device. It can be used three times before it needs to be recharged, and will disable an attacker of up to 300 lbs for up to 15 minutes. Alex assembled this device himself, and he primarily uses it for escape.
PDA: For all intents and purposes, a normal, semi-rugged, Blackberry. On rare occasions, Alex will receive instructions or new information through the device. The communication is never two-way, and it erased from memory immediately after viewing. All attempts that Alex has made to trace the origin of his directives have met with failure.
Parabolic Microphone: Handheld; for hearing at a distance or through walls. It interfaces with his PDA, and was also constructed by Alex. Information transferred via this device is vulnerable to normal hacking operations that target Bluetooth 2.0.

Living Status Information
[/b]Type of residence: Apartment
Roommates: Two, both female. One has begun to fall in love with their newest tenant, despite the fact that Alex is rarely home.
Alex's rent is provided by his "Uncle Frank," a liaison to the organization that provides him with financial backing, and, occasionally, advice. He appreciates Alex's resourcefulness, and will sometimes deny him funding for this reason. Uncle Frank has one of the largest and most delicate indoor gardens in SoCal.

Qi Abilities (Yet to be unlocked)
[/b]Name: Smoke on the Wind
Ability: The practitioner becomes difficult to follow, disappearing into the crowd, nearby cover, or at later stages vanishing while in plain sight for the briefest of moments.
Qi Strengths: Enables escape from combat or confrontation.
Qi Weaknesses: Does not work on the same opponent twice within a short period of time, and the speed of execution required can be physically draining.
Name: Lifting the Veil
Ability: The practitioner gains superior vision, the most common application of which is nightvision. At later stages the practitioner's sight can penetrate smoke, fog, and dust, but not solid objects such as walls or doors.
Qi Strengths: Facilitates espionage, and grants combat advantages when normal vision is impaired.
Qi Weaknesses: Prolonged use can cause the practitioner to become oversensitive to normal lighting conditions, forcing them to wear shades indoors or avoid daylight entirely.
