So.. Fallout 3 is here... it's an amazing game... made some rather big departures when it changed companies but it's still Fallout in spirit in my opinion... though others might disagree.. they don't count to me XD Anyways... One of the great ideas behind Fallout is to see how a character would last in the waste lands. What would go through their mind and other things. And so I thought, why not start this?
If you play Fallout 3, and write up your own characters diaries, post it here as well. So we can compare to how different mind sets handle the environment that is Capitol... (oh and I got some more bizare ones in mind for the future this is just the begining)

Diary of a Vault Dweller:
Citizen: Aziam
Vault: 101
Entry #1:
I don't know what happened. Why did things have to end up like this? My father leaves, my friends try to kill me... I'm forced to leave, all because of him. But that doesn't matter now. I need to survive out here. If I can't... then I don't know. I'm writing this to ensure that I'm not forgotten once I die. I don't know how much longer I'll survive.
I should probably explain how I got up to here first... My name is Aziam, I grew up in Vault 101.... and I thought I was born there. One day, my father had left the vault, something that was unheard of. And Amata, a sweet girl, I would've liked to have gotten closer to her in the future but I guess that idea is gone now, came and told me what was happening. She got me out of the Vault. I wanted her to join me, but she insisted on staying.
The light blinded me. Growing up I had heard tales of the future. How as the vaults began to open they would begin rebuilding... but all I saw was a wasteland... half destroyed buildings... cracked and blocked roads. So I set out, and soon came across a town. "Megaton" it's called. Built around a bomb. Stumbling into the town like some clueless vault dweller that I am, I started walking around. Talked to the people including their sherrif. Rather nice people. I had been tipped off that the owner of the local bar knew something about my father so I went there. But I didn't bother talking to the owner. I stole the password to his computer and started plugging into it, got the information and started on my way out when I was stopped by a most questionable individual. Something told me to ignore him and keep walking but the way he talked. It sounded like he was in the right. That I should do whatever he requested. And I did so. I rigged the bomb that Megaton was named after to explode.
Afterwards I wandered away from the town... explored around a bit. Discovered a band of reformist cannibals whilst looking for a missing brother... They all thought they were vampires. But then again, their leader had a point. Drinking blood is better then eating entire people. I also found a little boy in some ruins just outside the city. His family had been butchered by some fire ants. God, I would've preferred to fight the Raiders but I had to do something about this or else I was going to be in a lot more trouble later on.
I ran into a scientist whilst investigating the origins of these fire spewing ants. He said something about his research and Pyrosis. I don't know. I didn't understand all that mumbo jumbo but he told me something I could understand. Kill the Queens guardians and he'd be able to make all the remaining fire ants kill each other. If it weren't for my having been drinking the juices from these ants I would've probably ended up with horrible burning all over my body. The scientist rewarded me by injecting me with this concoction. Made me stronger. Down there in that ant nest I also found a note about delivering some clothes to some man out west. I was heading out that way next so I thought I might as well.
There I ran into the Tenpenny Tower. Such a grand and imposing sight on the empty wastes that I wasn't that suprised to see it inhabited. There was a ghoul in front. Disgusting things. They're tolerable I guess but I don't want to deal with their sorts. He was also blocking access to the intercom. I remembered Mr. Burke... the man who told me to rig the bomb, was waiting here for me. So I snuck a live grenade into the Ghouls pockets then ran for it. I found it rather amusing hearing this deformed being scream right before his limbs were hurled violently in several directions from the explosion. Probably says something about the kind of person I am.
On the top floor of the Tenpenny Tower, I found Mr. Burke and Mr. Tenpenny. There they had me detonate the nuclear bomb. The sight was amazing to say the least. The bright light. The split second of being blinded then feeling the earth shake beneath my feet as the wind blasted my face strongly. And I felt nothing from doing that horrible act. I guess this is why my father left me behind in the vault. Hoping the corruptive nature of the Wastes wouldn't get to me. I was suprised to see I was rewarded a suite in the tower as a home. I bought some items for it. Mordernising the furnishings. Before heading West more, to deliver the package.
I met a peculiar girl there. She was collecting blue soda drinks so she could pee glowing blue. I don't know why anyone would want to do that but she said if I could get her more of this drink... Nuka Cola Quantum... I also found the man there, the only other inhabitant of that dingy little town... if you could call it that. He kept telling me I shouldn't go near her. That she was his woman. I had no problem with that. Afterall, Amata was still alive and safe in the Vault. I intend to go back there one day. After I find my father. After all this nonsense is sorted out. However he was telling me not to give her the drinks and he would pay me to give them to him instead. I found it silly. And I already told the girl I would give her the drinks first. So I stuck to my decision.
I travelled back East. Almost to the river that seemed to divide this horrible landscape, to find the Nuka Cola Factory... to try and locate more of this drink. And... dear god... this is where I am now. Trapped. Miralurks... jacked up on iradiated Quantum patrol the halls below, security robots patrol the halls above. I've long run out of stim packs, I've had to eat so much food that my body is now heavily iradiated and I don't want to risk making it worse. I found the information for the location of Quantum drinks. However I fear going back down to the lower levels. What if more Miralurks await me there? Dear god, I don't think I could survive more then one more encounter with them. If you find this, please, find my father. A Vault Dweller named James. Tell him that it was his fault. I don't want to die. I just want to return to Amata and the Vault... Dear god, please someone help me...

Entry #2:
I escaped... I don't know how.. maybe I got lucky and I've managed to escape back out into the wastes. I've started exploring more. Learning more about the wastes.... Wisening up to the kinds of people that are out here. I regret blowing up Megaton and I do my best to try and make myself into a better person though that sometimes requires me to do bad things still... Afterall, survival is survival... As you can probably tell from this entry, I'm in a better more of a comfortable state. I still yearn to return to the Vault however out here isn't so bad anymore.
After leaving the factory, I travelled back to my suite in Tenpenny Tower, rested, recovered from that hellish nightmare before setting out again. I travelled north this time. Came across a slaver town. "Paradise Falls"... I wondered if there was some sort of relevant meaning between the name and the occupants. But either way, I entered the town, I was permitted free access due to my reputation as a criminal of the wastes... I want to change that, but it is what I have right now and it got me into the town. I met the "mayor" if you could call him that. A slave trader named Eulogy. He offered to sell me his personal slave bodyguard. A sweet woman, though I think she's lived too long as a slave because without a master she appears useless. I didn't have the caps to buy her though so I told Eulogy that I'd return.
I travelled the wastes a bit more, raiding Raiders and selling off their equipment. I returned shortly afterwards. With some kit as well. And bought her. Gave her better gear, and now we travel the wastes together. She seems to prefer her sword whilst I just get in there with my fists. I heard that Rivet City would be a good place to look for people. So I headed there. Following the river, I had to fight through these monstrosities, Super Mutants. I didn't know that radiation could do that to a person and I'd rather not become like them. But I wasn't as afraid anymore. With Clover, the slave girl, by my side, right in the thick of it. I don't have much trouble. Though I still don't like fighting those Miralurks... Nasty Crab people...
Anyways, on my way down to Rivet City, I saw a sunken boat, I told Clover to wait on the shore whilst I swam out and explored it and I found a key inside. Couldn't figure out what the key was for until I checked a nearby warf. Had two locked boxes on it and inside was an item called a Power Fist. I have no clue what it was. How it worked. Or anything of the like but it was like an oversized mechanical glove. Since to this point I'd been wearing small strips of metal dusters on my hands, I thought a giant metal glove would be better, right? God, this thing is crazy though. Where as before I'd just hammer enough to break a few bones and cause some internal organ ruptures, this power fist, completely blows apart bodies. It takes a bit more energy to swing my fists with this thing on but the trade off is worth it. I don't think I have anything to be afraid of anymore.
When we got to Rivet City, I just stared at it. It's a ship. A ship that's the size of a small city. I heard about such things occuring in pre-war times but this... seeing it in person. It's breath taking. Even in its broken, run down state. I managed to gain entry to the city. At first I had the intention of just searching for my father but I found some holotapes. I've been finding them all over the place. Something about an android running away. Found it a little strange but whatevever. But in this city. I found a lot of information about it. How did I find the information? Well, I was asked by one of the city councilmen to investigate a citizen... and he had some relevant information about it... And there was the owner of the android in this city as well. I had learnt that the one who helped the android escape was hiding out in the broken area of the ship. So I dived into the water and swam right in there. The lower levels were flooded so that caused me some minor issues at first but I found pockets of air. And Miralurks.
Have I mentioned I hate those blastard crab people? Well, seems their hard shells don't really stand up against the forceful impacts of the Power Fist. I'm really glad I got this thing... But the Miralurks were a minor concern, the bigger concern was as I moved to the upper levels of the ship, I found more and more traps. Had to jack myself up on stims to make it through there. But eventually I found a Dr. Pinkerton. He told me all about the android. And guess what? It was the security chief of Rivet City. Harkon. Pinkerton also offered to do some facial reconstruction on me but I declined. I like my face as it is.
I returned to Harkon. Tried to convince him that he was the android. But he refused to believe me so I had to use the failsafe command that Pinkerton gave me. It reactivated his android memories. After a minor discussion with A3-21, Harkons real name, he said he wanted to remain human, but didn't want Zimmerman, the owner of A3-21, to take him away. So he signed Zimmermans Death Warrant, and gave me his old Plasma Rifle. I went straight to Zimmerman and his bodyguard. Clover was right next to me but she didn't have to do anything. A3-21s rifle, melted Zimmerman and his guard into insta-green-goop.
I think I'm getting better at this surviving thing. I might head into the capitol next. Take my luck with mutant controlled zones and see how long I can last. Or.. I might try finding some of these Deathclaw creatures I've heard rumours about. But for now, I'm resting in Rivet City, having some fun with Clover. I don't know. Maybe if I can convince Clover to reject her slave programming I might settle down with her somewhere if I'm unable to return to the Vault. But, the future is looking brighter. Even brighter then when Megaton was lit up.
