As he sat there zoning in and out of the present, a thought hit the dark haired boy. They were complaining about the system, but what would they do if they were in power? Aureus had even participated, or tried to anyway, in the pillar tournament. But half the damn people dropped out, or were prevented from showing up. If it was the former, what the fuck was wrong with people? "So...what would you guys do if you were Pillars?" The schizo asked off handedly. Hopefully this would change the boring tone into one of interesting conversation.

I guess it's just the animal in everyone that wants to gain dominace over others.
That made sense. Dominance was power, even at the expense of others. Ahh, it was things like this that made Chihiro love the world oh so much. The young girl nodded in agreement, takinga nother sip of her water. It was good. She turned her head toward Aureus when he spoke up, 'So...what would you guy s do if you were Pillars?' Pillars? She'd heard about that, if only vaguely. She guessed it had something to do with their conversation of power, or else he just liked to mention random things.
"Pillars?"
She asked anyway for clarification, tilting her head the slightest of fractions to indicate her mixture of confusion and curiousity as she closed her water bottle again, twisting the top.

"Yea, the four students given the power to keep the others in line. Varsity Captain, Student Body President, Editor of the School Paper, and the School Captain." Aureus said in reply. It seemed not many people knew about the Pillars yet. And why should they? The school was still new, and the Pillars hadn't been chosen yet. The way things were going, he might end up one. It'd be interesting to see what Chihiro and Sean thought of the position. And maybe if he gained it he could change some things for the better.

Chi pondered these for a moment, a thoughful frown gracing her lips. Student Body President? Varsity Captain? All of these sounded quite powerful, as they should, but she didn't understand why they were called 'pillars.' She imagined four students holding up a roof like collumns, it was quite humorous. But then she returned to his first question, what would she do if she were a pillar? 'Hmmmm...' She thought, though more or less blanking when it came to actually thinking of what she'd do.
"So, these people...Pillars...they haven't been chosen yet?"

"Not yet. There was a tournament held not long ago to decide the positions, but half the fighters never showed up. I suspect foul play, but that's about it. I can't see any logical motives for anyone in power to rig it." Aureus said in an agitated tone. The fact that some one had been able to stump him pissed him off to no end. He was someone that prided himself on what he knew, and how he used it. Sure he had a theory about all the 'winners' being crazy, but he wasn't about to share that with Chi or anyone else for that matter. His D.I.D. would remain a secret as long as possible.

OOC: Back for a day or so, so don't count on me for a while yet.
IC: A pillar, huh? Would it be worth the trouble, though? Sean pondered a little before dissmissing the notion. "Becoming part of the system is just another way to be devoured by it." Sean's voice was dismissive, but then turned to joking, "Besides, I dont think I'm ready for that kind of responsibility." Sean in truth respected the students' interest in change, but Sean had seen the same attempted. Otherwise good people had been eaten away from the inside by gorging on power or guilt from the consiquences.
"Your choice though, just make sure you're willing to accept the risk. I for one, am not."

Power and Responsibility. They both co-existed on the same plane. With power, you are given a responsibility to use that power to do things that others couldn't normally do to benefit everyone. It was when those who used their power to harm others or for their own greedy gain that the relationship between power and responsibility failed. Chi didn't blame Sean for not wanting this, to be completely honest, she didn't either. It took a strong person to weild such power and not abuse it. That didn't mean there weren't things she wanted to change, at 259, in the community, in society in general. Chihiro nodded once again, whishing the water around in her waterbottle, it was about half full now.
"I agree, the risk in become such a powerful figure is the tempation to abuse power, and you'll become that which you meant to remedy in the first place."
