Victor sat on the edge of his hospital bed, his right leg crossed across his left, lightly moving up and down to a beat only known in Victor's mind. on his face was a little smile, and warm eyes that stared at the little tv hanging from the ceiling of his little hospital room. his shirt was off, his big defined muscles puffed out, and his right arm stuffed into a navy blue sling where the doctor said "rest your arm for a few days" after it had been freshly dislocated after a fight with gabriel. This seemed all too easy to victor. Victor ran his left hand up to the back of his head, scratching a little itch, his eyes never moving from the scyfy channel's "Warehouse 13", which he thought was a great show... if only he could have one of those items... maybe he could beat gabriel?
maybe, it was an interesting thought.
Generally Victor was not a super ambitious person, anything he was actually ambitious about he usually either already had it, or it didn't really matter, for instance, he already had a college scholarship, he already had a few music deals, he already had his whole career and life planned out, he already had women, he already had love, and he had the satisfaction of knowing that he earned it all himself... which is why he viewed everything as temporary, why he didn't really care what drama the school was going through, the school would be over in time, and then he would move on with his life without ever needing to think back on it if he didn't want to, so he spent his time thinking of more important things...
but for once, his mind was on something mundane, something mundane and stupid.
power
who had it, who didn't, etc. Victor had never cared for power, at least not in a physical sense, he already knew that he could lead if he wanted, but he knew he wouldn't know what to do as a leader, he'd have no goals, and without goals you can't really lead. so he didn't care much for political power either...
and yet his mind was on power...
becoming stronger... why? why on earth would you waste your time becoming stronger than the other kids at this school when you know this school and everything that happens in it doesn't matter? why not just continue to enjoy the school, make lots of friends, and party hard as you've been doing?
Victor thought about that question for a moment, unable to come up with a suitable answer...
Victor sat on the edge of the bed, thinking on his future, thinking on what his life was worth, and why, thinking on the moments he would never forget, and why they where unforgettable... and how to get more of them.
oh warehouse 13... such a great show

Matrim was at the hospital for a checkup with Shayne and Gale. Gale was with the baby while Matrim took a walk around, getting used to this place since he imagined he might be visiting it from time to time. This school had put him in a lot of painful places, so he knew he'd need to know the hospital. Not just to see if they were good, but to mark the locations of exits and windows, if he could jump out of said windows onto something softer than pavement, and if there were ways for him to escape a hospital room other than the door.
That's when he saw someone he could have sworn he recognized.....
That kid.... was there the day Shayne and Reira were attacked.....
Matrim stepped into the hospital room, hoping that he wasn't intruding. "You, you were there that day... at 42. And at the hospital visiting Connor," Matrim said, looking at the kids body and seeing that he had an injury to his arm, since it was in a sling. Matrim couldn't remember the kdis name, he doubted if he could, "You were with Gabriel..." He said with a little bit of spite in his voice, but he held back. Gabriel dooped a lot of those people, so many of them didn't see it coming.
"What happened to you?"

Victor looked up, one of the last people he had expected to see stepped into the room, Matrim gallagher...
Victor smiled as he came in, not letting it fade as he mentioned the incident later known as 'ground zero' by all the former black knights.
"With Gabriel is a bit of a stretch there... no one expected him to do what he did, and with the exception of stu I'm pretty sure no one approved" Victor waved it off, rolling his eyes at the stupidity of the whole thing... its high school, like that even mattered anyway... in his tiny frustration made in the moment he completely forgot about the second question of what happened to his arm.
but this guy, he already had a kid, he already had a love, he probably already has his future planned out, much like Victor himself... why does he care about a stupid high school so much?
and when did he get to long beach?
Victor decided it best to go with the second question for now.
"So what brings you down to long beach?" he asked simply enough, his hand motioning to one of the visitors chairs near the bed, as long as they where talking there wasn't much reason to not to have him have a seat.

"So what brings you down to long beach?" The kid said, Matrim taking a good look at the chair he motioned toward. Matrim decided to take a seat, not necessarily needing to rest, but decided he'd stick around a bit longer. Matrim knew good and well why he was here, it was simple. He was here to defeat Leon Sudeki no matter what it took. He didn't have a grudge, quite the opposite, he considered Leon an ally; a brother. The simple truth was that Leon was the next hurdle in Matrim's way of seeing how he's improved.
"I'm here to get strong enough to beat someone," Matrim said, relaxing back in the chair as he took a good look at the kid, "Simple as that. Once I'm done with that, who knows where I'll go. But I go where the challenge is... and it seems that I was done at 42. There was nothing left for me there but bad memories.... only one thing kept me there... and I'm thinking that one thing will come here before too long..."
If she really does care....
"How about you, why are you here? And for that matter, you still haven't told me how you got that injury... what is it, your arm? Sprain something?"

Victor nodded and agreed "Yeah, the kids down here are definately stronger and more willing to fight then at moral crest" he said with a laugh, turning now to face matrim away from the T.V.
Matrim continued questioning again the injury and asking about what brought Victor down here.
"Dislocated, they relocated it and want me to rest it for the rest of the day, just proof that the kids down here are a bit rowdier than up north, but really its nothing" Victor shrugged, even when he dislocated it hadn't hurt that bad, so he wasn't really concerned about the injury, simple truth was he could already move his arm fine, but he wanted it to heal right so he did what the doctor said. "Believe it or not I was actually from socal to begin with, I just decided it was time to move back" Victor explained easily, deciding not to mention the Z.E.B that really brought him down here. "I do most things on a whim, places and people aren't really that big of a deal to me" he said with a little laugh. then he thought about wait matrim said...
"So then... you're waiting for uhh..." he thought about the name, and finally found it after a moment "Reira to come join you down here then?" he asked casually, his big blue eyes shining friendly

"So then... you're waiting for uhh..." Matrim gave a confused look, not quite knowing what the boy was trying to ask, "Reira to come join you down here then?" And Matrim's heart sunk a little. He hadn't thought about Reira in awhile. He was still grieving her, losing her like that so suddenly... there was no way he could have prepared for that... the loss of what used to be his only friend, his girlfriend, his fiancee, his wife.....
"I uhh," He started to say, with a smile, trying to bury down any sadness, "She passed away in childbirth..." Matrim said, not mentioning much more, "Shoulder injury is the worst of your problems," He said right away, getting back to the point he was going to make after hearing what type of injury it was, "You should be able to relocate that in the middle of a fight if you need to. I take it you aren't much for fighting... but you should try to get a little more into it to survive this school... just to give you a preview I was once kicked over the entire school building, and then punched from air into a car roof. So trust me.... shoulder dislocations a paper cut in comparison to what you could have gotten."
Matrim hoped the boy wouldn't linger on the topic of Reira or try to start pitying Matrim. He didn't want anyone feeling sorry for him. He just wanted respect, but that was almost impossible to get from someone who pitied you.

Victor noticed how quickly matrim shied away from the reira subject, Victor never had really met her, but he always felt bad for the loss of life, and it must hurt him so much more. he'd never truly felt love, but he imagined it was powerful. poor guy... he simply nodded sympathetically and let the conversation continue. Matrim explained one of his war stories and Victor was fairly impressed, didn't seem like the kind of thing that usually went over very well.
"Actually, I fight a lot, just never learned how to relocate anything, it didn't really hurt, but we had just been sparring in the first place so we decided to stop there" victor explained in his rich deep voice. "That sounds pretty intense though, bro, did that happen back at moral crest? victor asked with interest, he always loved to hear other peoples fighting stories.

That sounds pretty intense though, bro, did that happen back at moral crest?" He asked and Matrim shook his head, thinking back to the fight.
"No, actually, it happened at 259. Leon Sudeki, the Lightening Dragon, he was my mentor at the time, and we were sparring. Whoever your sparring partner is, they are taking it too easy on you in my opinion. There are a lot of people out there out to kill, and you've got to be able to protect yourself from that. I've seen too many people die from lost fights, I've seen people die in war, and through all of it I was strong enough to survive, but no matter how strong I got, I was never strong enough to protect everyone. So remember...."
Matrim said standing up, "If you need to get strong, spare no expense. If you need to get someone else strong, don't hold back. Break them to the point of near death if you have to. Even if you end up harming the body in the long run, you're training their mind, their ability to face death and not panic."
Matrim then looked at the boy seriously, "If you want to train with someone who won't hold back, just let me know. I don't blame you for what happened that day, so you don't have to be scared of me. Plus, since I'm no longer the School Captain of PHS 42, I'm also guessing I'm not longer the Black Knights enemy. So even if you still were with that group it's not like we're against each other or anything....... uhm, forgot your name....."

"Victor" He said his name with a big grin, he loved making new friends, and maybe this guy could toughen him up a little, he was a bit braggy, but if everything he said was true he had been through hell and back, and Victor could and would put up with some ego if that meant learning from someone so experianced.
He lifted out his good arm to shake, his deep blue eyes gleaming, ego or not Victor liked this guy, he had some admirable traits, and victor had already kind of liked him from before as the captain of PHS 42. "I'll definately give you a call, and we can set up a sparring time he said, his smile never fading
"And I wouldn't worry too much about the knights, far as I know they died out a long time ago" he said with a little shrug, that really was for all he knew...

"Victor" He said, and Matrim made a note of his name.
"Matrim," He said and nodded at the guy, shaking his hand that he held out before letting go and dropping it back to his sides. The kid probably knew his name but it was polite to introduce yourself and all of that. And of course, the part Matrim was expecting to hear after pushing it was that he'd like to spar some time. Matrim nodded, quickly spouting off his phone number so the guy could literally give him a call. The number was his home phone, so that way he could leave a message. Matrim's cell was something he preferred for personal stuff, not business. And fighting... that was mostly business when it came to sparring with someone.
"And I wouldn't worry too much about the knights, far as I know they died out a long time ago"
"Even if they hadn't, I'm not longer School Captain. I doubt the group was specifically to go after me personally. Without a title I'm just another chump anyway. Besides, Gabriel's still at 42," Matrim said, unaware that Gabriel wasn't at 42, "So even if he has it out for me, I'm perfectly fine being myself here. And while the School Captain title is extremely tempting... I don't think I want it. May challenge the Captain, but I don't know if I'd actually take the title from whoever it is."

Victor nodded, taking the paper. He grimaced as Matrim mentioned Gabriel... was it better to let him find out himself that Gabriel was here? or better for Victor to tell him.... Matrim did have a point, they shouldn't be enemies anymore, there was no personal grudge... was there? Victor hoped he wasn't about to make a big mistake
"Gabriel is here... just for your general knowledge, but you have a point, he was after the captain-ship, I doubt he'll come after you, I don't even think he knows you're here" Victor said "I sure didn't know" he said with a laugh making light of the whole situation, Victor couldn't imagine the hatred Matrim probably had for Gabriel, after the whole 'I'm gonna abort your child' thing... didn't really seem like that would go over well...

"Gabriel is here... just for your general knowledge, but you have a point, he was after the captain-ship, I doubt he'll come after you, I don't even think he knows you're here. I sure didn't know." Victor said, and Matrim's right fist clenched tightly, his expression... blank. His eyes went dull, lifeless as he thought about the fact that Gabriel was there. There was a part of him that wanted to take off after him right away and kick his ass, but that would just start shit and get Gabriel and some mystery faction against him once more. It wasn't worth the pain in the ass.
"I see," Matrim said, letting go of the grip on his hand, his attention once more being brought back to the room and moment. "Good for him then. Hopefully he finds some peace here. He seemed to be a little tense at 42, like something was weighing down on him. Like he didn't want to fight but something was pushing him to. Maybe it was pride, maybe it was anger, perhaps both. Or maybe it was just his anger towards his own ambition that drove him..... either way....."
Matrim started to head out of the room, "Hate to leave you like this. But ring me sometime for that sparring match-- oh, and if you could... don't go telling people I'm here. I'd rather let people find out if they must, you know? Otherwise I don't want to stir the pot just yet. I'm liking this vacation from all the constant attacks. Besides, I haven't even gotten settled in you know? Anyway, feel better Vic."
And with that new nickname given, Matrim waved, and left the room. If there was anything else Victor wanted to ask him, he could easily catch up with him, otherwise Matrim was out the door and he'd see him whenever he got that call or happened to bump into him again.
