Alex sat at a table normally meant for two people in a small cafe. He was currently reading a newspaper magazine, his black backpack at his feet, while he waited for his order, a chicken sandwich with a salad on the side and a baked potato to arrive. He wore a plain black t-shirt, loose black track pants, his black overcoat, and his worn down black Converse shoes. He was sitting inside a rather quiet and small cafe, he didn't want to go to Starbucks, for one thing, they charged too much, and so, Alex had gone on an... adventure, searching out for a cafe that didn't charge so much. And he found it. The name? Polly's Bakery Cafe. And Alex loved the place. When he got the chance, he'd come here, even if it was only to buy a small cup of coffee.
Alex finished reading, and what good timing, his order arrived, he had gotten it to go. He took the bag the waitress had handed to him, placed it in his backpack, and walked out of the cafe. He walked along the sidewalk, as he passed by people walking on the sidewalk, taking care not to bump into anyone. Well, almost anyone. As Alex made his way to the crosswalk, his shoulder collided into someone's shoulder, stopping him in his tracks. "... Sorry." Alex apologized, as he made to walk past the person, not realizing that the person he had collided with, was someone familiar, someone from his past...

Matrim was in stunner glasses, an orange muscle t-shirt with some surfing logo on it with a hoody over it, sandles, and a pair of swimming shorts. His hair was pulled back into a ponytail as he walked down the sidewalk. He didn't have any big plans for today, mostly it was just to go find a surf shop and buy a board. Something he was supposed to do was learn to surf, so part of him had always wanted to while he was in 259 the last time. At the very least, he'd try to do it today and learn the trial and error. I mean, monkey see monkey do should work right? It's how he picked up how to skateboard and a few other things, so a photographic memory would probably come in handy.
Then while walking down the street, he bumped into someone while his hood was up and he was looking over at the shop names, he quickly turned, stopping to see who it was and quickly apologize.
"... Sorry."
"Sorry bout tha--- Alex?" Matrim said, suddenly freezing where he was, his hood up but most of his face hidden behind the stunner shades he was wearing. He froze because he was seeing a ghost, the face of a man he had seen die. Alex Hikari, the reason for his Qi going wonky and changing to that of a fire based one.
No... it can't be.... maybe Ryuu just did something to his ha-- but it's him!

"Sorry bout tha--- Alex?"
The minute Alex heard his name spoken as he made to pass by the person, he stopped dead in his tracks, and whipped around instantly, facing the guy, who had frozen up instantly. "... That is my name, but how do you know it?" Alex asked, his brow furrowing confusedly, as he searched the face of the guy, but couldn't make out who it was, the stunner shades and the hood the guy was wearing hid his face completely. Not many people knew or called Alex by his name, only those who went to St. Paragon's and Point Hope High knew, and those whom he met at Public High School #42, knew Alex as Ryuu.
But even so, those from Point Hope, mainly Matrim and Reira (Who had died, but Alex didn't know this) thought Alex had died in the fight against Marquise, which was true, but he had been brought back from the dead."Who are you...?" He asked, as he continued to look at the guy in confusion, he could be from Point Hope, but seeing as Alex couldn't see his face, he couldn't tell for sure. But the way the guy had frozen up, it was like he had seen a ghost or something. If only Alex knew this wasn't far from the truth...

"... That is my name, but how do you know it? Who are you...?"
And on that note.......
"Uhhhh," Matrim took off like a bat out of hell, weaving in and out of people in the sidewalk, making a quick turn around the corner toward a less populated area. He didn't know if Alex was following him but he wasn't going to check now. He didn't exactly know why he was running, but it was the first instinct he had.
If he's alive this changes.... everything? Nothing? What does it change?
He was coming up on a chain link fence, but there was a trash thingy-ma-bobber (you know, the big metal ones with the plastic lids?) right in front of it.
Must remember to look up the term for those later....
He ran toward the wall, taking a step on it, wall walking onto the trash thing, running across that and then jumping over the fence. At this point he'd turn... and if Alex was still chasing him, he'd keep running. Fast.
Reira died, nothings changed with that-- I'm still going to become Infernal-- I just need to figure out how the hell he's alive, preferably without letting anybody else know that I'm here. I really REALLY want that cool awesome special entrance!

Alex just stared blankly as the guy took off like his pants were on fire, that was how fast he darted away. Alex leaned a bit over to the side and watched as the guy weaved in and out of the crowd on the sidewalk, as a sweatdrop appeared on the back of his head, either this guy was really antisocial, or he was seriously freaked out by something Alex had done. The problem was, Alex had absolutely no idea what it was. Alex scratched the back of his head, as he tried to figure out just what it was that made the guy freeze up so suddenly. This guy... He said my name, not Kazuya, not even Ryuu. He said Alex. Only those from St. Paragon’s and Point Hope knew I was called Alex back then, not even Emily knows about my name. It’s definitely not a girl; it was a guy’s voice. It had to be someone from St. Paragon’s or Point Hope... Someone from my past! With that in mind, Alex took off like a bullet, weaving in and out of the crowd just as the guy had done before, and took a turn around the corner, running down the sidewalk, the guy was still ahead of him, but Alex was slowly catching up to him.
He saw up ahead, the guy jump over the fence using one of the metal garbage cans, before dropping down on the other side of the fence. Alex saw him turn and look behind him, just as Alex reached the garbage can, and leaping on top of it, used it to boost himself up and over the fence, as he dropped down lightly and continued chasing after the guy. “Hey! Wait!” Alex called out, as he saw the guy quicken his pace and continued running, at which point, Alex too quickened his pace, to catch up to him. As Alex ran, he clapped his hands and activated his Qi, engulfing his hands in flames, as his eyes turned red. Slowly catching up with the guy, Alex saw they had reached the boardwalk and was running down the sidewalk near the beach. He stretched out his hand, in an attempt to grab the guy’s arm, shoulder, whichever part he could grab onto, in hopes to stop him. He was definitely someone from Alex’s past, and Alex had to find out who it was.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
“Hey! Wait!” Alex yelled at him as he ran, Alex hot on his tail...... I probably could have worded that phrase a little better given the fanfic conspiracy but..... oh well, Alex was right behind him and reached out to grab his right arm. Matrim felt the burn of the flame Qi, his arm getting a bit burnt from the connection. He quickly turned and threw a left fist for the guys nose. He knew it was Alex but still, getting burned ticked him off a bit and he had to act out.
"THAT HURT!" He would say as the attack flew out toward Alex.

Stretching his arm out, Alex managed to grab hold of the guy's right arm, burning his arm instantly, but it was only a first degree. Just as quick as Alex had burned the guy, he turned, and threw a left fist, aiming for Alex's nose. "THAT HURT!" His eyes flashing in shock, Alex barely managed to turn his head in time, flowing with the direction of the punch, as he felt the fist connect somewhat with his cheek, sending Alex flying backwards, as he crashed to the ground on his back. "Oww..." He groaned in pain, as he sat up, albeit painfully, and rubbed his cheek, as he stared at the guy in shock.
"Then why the hell are you running? If you didn't know who I am, then you'd have no reason to run!" Alex retorted back, as he picked himself up, and dusted himself off while continuing to rub his cheek with his hand. "You're someone I know, because only someone from St. Paragon's or Point Hope would know I used to go by the name Alex." Alex looked straight at the guy, as he continued to keep his Qi charged, his arms by his side. "If you won't tell me who you are, then I'll make you tell me who you are."

"You died!" Matrim said, "You aren't here because you were KILLED!"
Matrim's hands ignited with flame as he looked at Alex, "You were once the flame master, and it's because of you that I'm like this. Because you died.... how did you live? HOW?"
Matrim's hands ignited he would bring them up in fists, ready to defend against Alex if he wanted to fight.

"You died! You aren't here because you were KILLED!" Alex's eyes flashed in surprise at the guy's reply, only a couple people knew he had "died," Reira and... "..." His eyes returning to calm, when he saw the guy's hands become engulfed in flames, he knew who it was, only one person could engulf his hands in flames just like Alex was be able to do. "... Nice to see you again... Big Blue.” Alex replied, as he deactivated his Qi, the flames surrounding his hands dissipating, his arms hanging casually by his side, he no longer had to fight to figure out who it was, he had gotten his answer. "... I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you everything, because I owe you an explanation... Mat." Even though Matrim no longer had his blue hair from back at St. Paragon’s, Alex still called him Big Blue, because that was how it always was, he was Big Blue, and Alex was Little Red. "But before I do..." Alex stood in front of Mat, before trying to whack him on the head unexpectedly with a single punch. "That was payback." Alex smirked at Matrim, his best friend, whom he had to leave behind. "... You know I fought against Marquise, the vampire, to take revenge against the members who were killed by him." Alex began, as he pulled off the left side of his jacket, revealing Rina’s bandanna that he wore around his left arm, his ghost having given his own to Matrim...
"While my body did go cold from over excess use of my Qi, just before dawn broke, I was taken away... By Kyoko, by my older sister, and in the place of my body, a body double who looked liked me, had the same injuries as me, but wasn’t me, was left in my place. I was taken to a private hospital, and recovered. The two of us then moved to San Francisco, where I went by my middle name, and created the story I was my own cousin. All those times we fought, all those times we met... It was me. I’m sorry Mat, for putting you through something like that." Alex's heart weighed heavily, and it wasn't just because of the weighted anklets he wore as constant training, since he used kicks almost if not all the time. He knew he owed Mat an explanation, but he couldn't tell him the truth, that he been brought back from the dead by an experimental serum. Who'd believe such an explanation? I'm sorry Mat...

"... Nice to see you again... Big Blue.” And Matrim's hands tightened. He didn't let up his Qi quite yet, “... I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you everything, because I owe you an explanation... Mat.”
"But before I do..."
*WHACK*
Matrim ended his Qi and gave a death glare to Alex, wanting to hit him back but just laughing it off.
"That was payback.... You know I fought against Marquise, the vampire, to take revenge against the members who were killed by him.”
"Yeah, you lost and your Qi's side effect along with loss of blood killed you. I choke slammed Marquise off of the roof, killing him," Matrim said, "And then.... later.... hours and hours later I buried you...."
“While my body did go cold from over excess use of my Qi, just before dawn broke, I was taken away... Matrim thought about it, Ryuu was Alex... he had just been using that Qi.... he had been toying with him....
"So..." Matrim said, before suddenly punching Alex with his right fist to his left cheek, "That's my payback. Dumbass." Matrim said, turning away, "All that damned time you knew and you could have told me. You're lucky nothing bad happened... you're lucky a war didn't break out between Militia and Reapers and Pillars... it wouldn't have ended well..."
Matrim recalled his and "Ryuu's" talk where he figured out Ryuu was Militia, and thought Ryuu had said his girlfriend was Militia. He shouldn't have told Matrim this information but he still did.
"Tell me... is there anything left of Militia? What ever happened with your Girlfriend, Emi? And how's Emily doing?" Matrim asked, remembering a bit about Ryuu. Matrim had actually fought Emi in a sparring match when he came across her working out. He was hoping to train her to get her to a point where she could handle herself against tougher opponents so Ryuu wouldn't have to worry too much, but stuff came up and he didn't hear from her after that.

Alex smirked slightly at the death glare Matrim gave him after he had punched Matrim upside the head, as he ended his Qi before laughing it off. Alex stayed silent as he listened to Matrim tell him what had happened after Alex was unable to move, unable to even lift his head up to see what had happened after Matrim and Reira had arrived. Matrim had killed Marquise. Or, more like he had killed the person whom Marquise shared the body with. Was Marquise truly gone? Not even Alex knew the answer to that question. But at least Matrim had finished what Alex had started. "So..."
*KRAKK!*
Alex felt Matrim's right fist crash into his left cheek, Alex ending up on his ass, as he held his cheek while looking up at Matrim in shock. "That's my payback. Dumbass." "You're going to get punched out, you creep!!" Alex retorted, grinning evily at Matrim, as he saw him turn away. Picking himself up, Alex dusted himself off, the grin having quickly faded off his face. "... Yes, I knew. And even if I told you, it wouldn't change the fact we were part of different gangs, and that we could've potentially fought against each other." Matrim was Alex's best friend, the two of them hadn't gotten off on good terms back at St. Paragon's, but over time, the two of them became friends. Alex was the brains, and Matrim was the brawn. Not to say Matrim was stupid, far from it, but back at Point Hope, Matrim had come to Alex for advice nearly all the time.
"... Your guess is as good as mine regarding Emi. We're not together anymore. The two of us drifted apart. She's no longer my girlfriend, and I haven't seen or heard from her ever since the two of us broke up." Alex replied, as he carefully stared into empty space. "... You know as well as I do Mat, that I can't tell you about Militia's situation. I'm not saying I don't trust you, but the two of us aren't part of the same gang anymore." Alex walked a bit away, before stopping, his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "If I could start up my own gang, the 'enforcement squad' you could say, of this school, I would, just like back at St. Paragon's." Alex turned to Matrim, looking straight at him. "... It's your choice Mat. You can help or not help me. I will not hold it against you if you refuse."

"If I could start up my own gang, the 'enforcement squad' you could say, of this school, I would, just like back at St. Paragon's. ... It's your choice Mat. You can help or not help me. I will not hold it against you if you refuse."
"Heh," He said to himself with a grin, "Because it was such a smashing success the first time around. Maybe we should get the old gang together and--- oh that's right they are all dead except for a select few. And until recently I assumed you were part of that population. If I'm going to be in a gang at this school, it won't be like the enforcement squad. I'm afraid protection has changed in meaning to me. Wagging a finger at students for fighting isn't going to do anything....."
He started to walk away, "I'll consider joining a gang with you, I was secretly in league with Emily and Militia back on 42. If you don't believe me you can ask her," Matrim said as he stopped for a second turning back to look at Alex one more time, "If you want to start training this school, getting them ready for what's to come, I suggest you think carefully as to what it is your gang would actually be doing. Give me a mission statement, a few examples with some hypothetical scenarios, and I'll give you an answer."
He would then walk away, holding a hand up to say goodbye, "Try not to die anymore."
Matrim hopped the fence and left.
He's here... he's alive... but still, it changes nothing.

"Heh, you know what they say," Alex replied, shrugging his shoulders casually, "The dead never stay buried." It was true, the meaning of protection had changed in Alex too. What he had believed in back at St. Paragon's and what he believed in now, had changed. His ideals, his goals, everything had changed. The days of intimidating the students into not fighting had long since passed. Alex watched Matrim walk away, a smile tugging at the edge of his mouth. So Matrim was secretly in league with Militia... Well, more like Emily, to be exact. Alex didn't need to ask Emily about it, because he had enough trust in Matrim to believe what he said. But the fact remained, Militia had broken up into factions, and if anything was to be accomplished, the pieces had to be picked up and assembled.
He saw Mat raise his hand up to say goodbye, as Alex smirked slightly. "I make no promises." He called out to Mat's retreating back, as he saw him hop over the fence, before turning around, and walked away, heading out of the alleyway. I may be back, and even though Mat knows, it still doesn't change a thing. If anything is to get done, Militia will have to reform. The Enforcement Squad may be dead and long gone, but the goals I have, have yet to fade away. No matter what, Alex was going to do what he must, to protect what he must. That was something he always kept with him, even back at St. Paragon's. It was time for change, it was time to reform, and see where Militia stood currently. It was time to find out.
