Gym class. Oh, how she loathed it. It gave the stronger bullies a chance to pick on the weak, and the nerds like her never got out of it. Drea looked around and winced. Yep. Lots of assholes today. But at least she saw Mitsukai. Maybe they could team up against them or something. She was Varsity Captain now, after all. Which reminded her - Drea owed her congratulations for that.
The whistle blew - they all got into formation. They'd been taught to do that, and so they did. No matter how weird it felt to be obeying a whistle. She twitched.
"Today, you'll be working in pairs," the teacher called. "It's a practice spar for the martial arts promotion we'll be having next week. I'll be pairing you up so there are no misconceptions."
He nodded at his words and began moving. Drea was relieved when he finally reached her.
"Rea, you'll be working with Mitsukai. You know her, I trust?"
Drea nodded, hardly believing her luck. As soon as he left her, she darted towards her friend.
"How lucky - we've been paired up," she grinned. "Where do you want to go?" she asked in reference to the large gymnasium.

Mitsukai smiled at her friend as she approached. Thank god she would not have to be paired off with one of the neanderthals in this particular class. Sure she was Varsity Captain now and she had to try to get along with SOME of the students but most of these classmates were unbearable to be around.
At least she knew that Drea was a good sparring partner. Someone that was quite skilled despite her looks, if anyone could make today's exercise interesting it certainly was Drea.
"How lucky - we've been paired up," "Where do you want to go?"
Mitsukai looked around the gym, spotting a vacant mat around the corner of the room. That looked like a good spot out of sight of most people. It was not like she didn't mind if the others watched or not, it was just a habit of her's to find a place she could hide herself to avoid grabbing much attention.
"Over there seems nice, lets grab it before someone else gets there first." She said, ushering the girl to follow her. Once there Mitsukai would stand on the opposite end of the mat facing Drea. "Who do you want to start me or you?"

"Over there seems nice, lets grab it before someone else gets there first," her friend said, pulling her towards it. Mitsukai paused at the other end of the mat. "Who do you want to start: me or you?"
Drea paused for a moment, realizing that some of the others had turned to see how their Varsity Captain fared against her. She tensed. She was unsure of what to do - she didn't want to lose to Mitsukai, but nor did she want the others to think of her friend as an easy target.
She bit her lip, before nodding to herself. She'd lose... But that didn't mean she wouldn't get in some practice.
"You start," she said quietly, wanting to keep her thoughts hidden.

"You start,"
Well no surprises there, it was almost like tradition now for Mitsukai to start things off. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the gaze of the curious bystanders watching them. It was blatantly obvious that they all wanted to see what their new Varsity Captain was capable of. Especially since she was an unknown before all of this. This match could determine how the students of 259 viewed her from this point on. If she was concerned about her image then it would worry her at least a little that so far she had never won a match with Drea.
But it didn't, Mitsukai did not care about how the other students viewed her. She was already used to others treating her like shit anyway. And if they thought her weak enough because of this match, knocking around a few idiots that tried to steal her title around for a bit would make them reconsider that idea. She might not be one of the strongest students in the school but she could hold her own. She was still not someone these idiots would want to mess with.
Drawing her attention back onto Drea she would take a deep breath, blocking out the feeling of all those eyes watching her as she made her first move.
Mitsukai would aim a kick for the girl's face. Not enough to make her bleed or serious harm her of course but to at least hurt before she sent a swift uppercut to her gut. In that instant she would bring her foot up again to kick her in the ribs and another kick to her chest to force her back.

Drea breathed calming breathes as she waited for her friend to begin. Within moments, Mitsukai launched herself at Drea with a kick.
Drea, of course, wasn't going to stand there and take it. She took two steps to the side, and, when Mitsukai was horizontal - at at the same level - with her, she spun outwards, raising her leg to kick the other girl in the side.
She'd dodged the first set of moves, yes, but she had no intention of dodging them all. Previous fights had already taught her the futility of such an attempt. She'd only tire herself out, and that wasn't something she wanted to do so early in the fight...
Or was it? It was a good chance to see how her endurance was, and also to see how many different ways she could get out of a possibly damaging blow.
A feral grin appeared on her face as she thought of the possibilities, but those that didn't know her might think she was planning out a way to take Mitsukai down.

Mitsukai let out a low growl as she felt the impact of Drea's kick. It was a shame that she had been unsuccessful in landing the first hit but she would live. It was not that bad.
Drea's grin caused Mitsukai to give her one of her own. Looked like Drea was already enjoy this and they just got started. It was always good to see someone enjoying the heat of battle, even if some of those people were sick and twisted individuals that were only thinking about how much pain they were going to inflict upon you when they were done.
Mitsukai moved again using all her speed now to attack. She was still faster then the girl after all so she could not dodge Mitsukai's attacks for very long, though she could of course still counter but Mitsukai did not want to give her time to even think about how to. She would again she would push herself forward. Sending her fist flying for Drea's gut once more, using the momentum of her speed and the weight of her body to apply more force into that blow then she could normally. If successful and she winded Drea she would turn as soon as she landed that hit to get behind her and deliver a kick to her back to knock her to the ground. If that did not succeed she would try to tackle her to the ground before she had the chance to turn around to counter her.

Drea was satisfied at the feel of solidity against her foot. She immediately flipped away, realizing that she didn't have the time to follow up.
She noticed Mitsukai's reflecting grin and was pleased. They were both having fun... and that smile probably meant that Mitsukai hadn't picked up on her intentions. Which was good, because it proved that the other girl wasn't telepathic - she hadn't done anything that would give her away - and because it meant that the other girl was enjoying herself.
Mitsukai moved at her rapidly, and Drea, almost shocked by the sudden speed, bent backwards sharply at the waist in a way that would make most people wince. As Mitsukai's fist went over her waist, she'd grab at it to pull the girl towards her, possibly flipping her over herself.
And then, she'd try to sit on her, maybe pinning her. The landing would likely have winded the other girl - it was such that she would end up flat on her back, sending her breathe away.

Drea grabbed a hold of her fist allowing to send Mitsukai crashing to the ground. She had to wonder grimly how many times she would be forced on her back this round. The second Mitsukai caught her breath as Drea sat on her she would try to punch the girl at the same time that she would try to roll over to break free of Drea's hold before the girl could have her completely pinned.
If she was successful in getting Drea off from on top her she would quickly try to pull away, backing off for a moment to allow her this time to come and attack her instead. Drea's strength in battle was to counter, not so much as attack so maybe a small switch in roles might help the situation.

Drea, having foreseen the attack, caught Mitsukai's fist in her hands, protecting herself, even as she allowed Mitsukai to roll them over, knocking herself off of the other girl. Mitsukai retreated, and Drea crouched in a ready position. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at the other girl, waiting for an attack.
Mitsukai wasn't moving. Drea frowned, waiting a moment longer. Then she realized that the other girl wanted her to attack.
She nodded grimly - this wasn't the best of things for her... though perhaps it was for the situation.
Drea launched herself at Mitsukai, aiming a punch to the other girl's stomach. As soon as she got within range, however, she'd pull from the punch, and move to straight out tackle the other girl. If Mitsukai went to counter the punch, she'd be winded from the tackle. If she tried to avoid it, Drea's change in attack pattern would allow her to land the other girl anyway.

Mitsukai would dodge the attack that she thought was a punch but instead was tackled, being knocked back down again. Huh so much for having a bit of an edge by forcing Drea to attack. She rolled away again, trying to trip up the other girl before getting back up again. As soon as she got back onto her feet she would lunge at Drea. Tackling the girl in turn to knock her down instead. If she failed to she would pivot and send a swift kick to her ribs.

Mitsukai rolled again, trying to get back to her feet and dislodge Drea. Drea's expression went grim as she saw - looking straight up and at the feet of the many spectators. Keyword? Many.
She needed to stop the fight. Soon.
Needless to say, it didn't take long. Rather, it was an accident of sorts. Mitsukai rolled to take control again, but as Drea was knocked away, she landed awkwardly. Her wrist had been bent beneath her, and should've been severely sprained - but her Qi had kicked in.
Immediately, she scowled, dodging Mitsukai's attacks as she got to her feet.
"I concede," she said, frowning. She had been planning to do this a bit differently... "Sorry, Mitsu - my Qi kicked in."

"I concede," "Sorry, Mitsu - my Qi kicked in."
Mitsukai stopped, eyebrow raised as she studied the girl. It was over already just like that? That was disappointing but if her Qi activated then it probably best to stop it here. She was not sure if they were allowed to use that kind of power in class. Besides Mitsukai would have to activate her own Qi to make the match fair. With little experience using that kind of power it was risky to activate it now in this fight. Especially with all these people around, someone could get hurt. She walked up to her friend.
"Are you going to be okay?" she asked, a bit concerned.

"Are you going to be okay?" Mitsukai asked her.
Drea nodded, embarrassed. "Yeah," she said, blushing a bit. She ducked her head. "Sorry, but I don't think we're allowed to use our Qis in class."
Still, it had worked out well. Mitsukai hadn't caught onto the fact that she hadn't been fighting at full strength... And the others still saw Mitsukai as the winner.
Behind them, the whistle blew once more.
"Class is over!" the teacher called. "You've got ten minutes before the bell goes off!"
