I
His job was done for the day, as it was time to close up shop in that tiny little place of his. Turning off the lights in the exercise room, he'd simply push aside the fact that there were towels laying everywhere in the general vacinity of all the workout machines, treadmills, iron pumpers, the whole nine yards, and yes.. This place had become quite a nice place. Cody proceeded to pick up some of the white towels that had been laying around, before shutting the lights off, and exiting into the main hallway of his ARMES gym. Carrying those white towels in his hand.. The place was eerily quiet.
As the lights were dim, Cody then walked to the front of the sign at the front door of his place, switching it from open, to close, before he'd then lock the door, looking out, he'd see a number of vehicles parked outside. The streetlights were out, as he spied out onto the street. It was too dark to really see against the store across the street there, but that was fine.. It was time for dinner anyway.. He would then look up at the digital clock against the wall.
10 O' clock.
He wasn't sure what this figured, but it was very tired.. Getting too late to stay up anymore. It was bad enough that he was staying up this late to run his business, but there was some homework he needed to get started on in the meantime..
.. Otherwise Drea would scold him about it.
How shameful, that someone like him could be put to shame so easily by such a little girl, but then again.. She had a gift, a very strong gift in which her mind was the maker of her future, where Cody's.. Cody's would not. Cody's future was shaped the moment he set foot in Metro City.. That fateful day, where his fate was sealed, thanks to the almighty Mad Gear gang.
Belgar, the only man to fall at the hands of a raging teen, set on saving a city, had that day fell from a building over 20 stories high.. It wouldn't be a survivable fall, or so people thought. But things seem to have their way with fate.. And as fate had in store for Cody, well.. Things weren't always what they seemed.
Cody tramped upstairs, only heading close to the top of the stairs, to his kitchen, throwing the towels onto the table that he was going to eat from, opening up the fridge and peering inside.
Damn, Astrid had eaten all of his leftover steak.
He sighed, oh well.. There wasn't much that he could do about it now. Smiling to himself, at least she liked eating his steak. Har, har.. Anyway, Cody rummaged around in the rest of the fridge, looking about for something good to eat. There wasn't really much else, only leftover spahgetti.. A tuna sandwich.. A Pickle..
Meh, the pickle would be good enough.
He would pull the jar of pickles out of the fridge, onto the counter, as he then would twist the top from the pickle jar, placing it on the the counter, as he would take a fork. Put it inside the jar, and promptly take out the small gerkin. Before placing it into his mouth, however he heard a small rap at the door.
At first, he ignored it, thinking that is was someone who'd just left their shorts in the weight room, and continued to peck away at his Pickle, eating that whole crunchy goodness. However, the raps on the door, continued to get bigger, louder, larger.. Something wasn't right. Either that was a very important pair of shorts, or someone really wanted to see him.. It couldn't be Astrid or Drea.. It was too late for them to be out at this time of night..
Something doesn't seem right at all. In the middle of the night, and someone's trying to desperately get in? This wasn't good.. However, it couldn't hurt to just be curious and take a look now, wouldn't it?
Cody then tramped back downstairs, only to notice.. That nobody was there.
Strange, stupid kids probably playing some stupid prank on him for the halarity of his expense. He grumbled, heading upstairs before another rap on the door came, he then turned around once more.
Again.. Nobody was there..
Now he was starting to get a little ticked. Annoyed to the point where he would just wait in front of the doors for a couple of minutes.. Sitting there on one of the side benches, waiting for his little prankster to come back to the door..
*Riiiing*
*Riiing*
The phone began to ring, sitting consecuatively on the table next to him, talk about conveniant. He would then pick up the phone placing it to his ear with a bit of worry.
"Hello?"
Only heavy breathing could be heard, for the first few minutes, if anything this seemed to be something out of a movie. At first it was kind of creepy, but now, things were getting a little.. Intense..
Suddenly, laughing burst out onto the phone. A haggared, old voice, something that sounded like had been ruined over ten years time of smoking. It coughed, and hacked, as the voice continued to make itself known over the phone.
Cody didn't know what to say.
"Who is this?!" He demanded, wanting to know who would be so stupid as to do this to him. There was only laughter still, as they cackled on the other edge of the phone. Laughing, continuously, eerily.. Cody became agitated, as he narrowed his brows at the sudden call.
"Who is this? Tell me or I'll--"
"Or you'll, what? Cody? You've already done more to me than you'll ever remember.."
Cody's eyes suddenly adorned shocked onto his face, a sudden sweatdrop pouring down the side. The voice knew his name, but it didn't sound familiar at all. His jaw fell short of the speaker into the phone, as he suddenly thought about who would be the asshole to do such a thing like this.
"Who is this?"
He would ask again, this time only with a little bit of shake in his voice. The voice would continue to laugh at the confusion he was striking into Cody by this point, it was loud, obnoxious, and mysterious..
"I'm done playing games! Tell me who you are!!" He demanded, standing up from the bench in a fit of rage, banging the table roughly.
The voice went quiet for a couple of minutes. Everything was silent, as he then heard more laboured breathing, before the voice finally responded to him, although.. It wasn't something he'd like to hear. It wasn't a name, no..
".. Calligan's Bar.. Eleven Thirty. Don't be late, or I'll send some people to slice off some heads of some.. Certain individuals, you hold close."
*Click*
*Beep* *Beep* *Beep*
Someone, had just threatened him to be there, he needed to move. To say something, but.. At the moment, his brain couldn't process what was going on.. Something was wrong with this picture. Someone wanted him to be there..
Someone, who he hadn't seen in a long time.
Cody would slowly hang up the phone, as he thought for a moment, taking a seat on the work bench. There were threats that had been placed.. The only thing to do, to keep them out of harm's way..
Drea.. Astrid..
The only thing he could do, was go.. Go and see what this threat meant..
Only, it would mean more than anyone would know, in the long run.. As it would be a dangerous point to even leave..
.. To Be Continued ..
