"Four months, eh?" Adrian smiled, he remembered Princess. "I had a cat once. We had her with us for almost eight years. She'd do this thing when my parents where fighting, she would come into the room and meow for them to stop." He clearly remembered that, it had been so adorable, but he had also been grateful for it more than once. "She'd have this begging tone to it, you know? Like 'Why, why're you fighting? Please stop fighting!' We loved her to bits." He sighed, they had never gotten another cat afterwards.
"Have you had many? Cats, I mean?" Adrian had given serious though to getting another cat soon, but he just didn't have the time at the moment, and he'd rather not have one than have a cat he couldn't take proper care of. "I miss mine. Princess, her name was."

"She'd have this begging tone to it, you know? Like 'Why, why're you fighting? Please stop fighting!' We loved her to bits."
Mitsukai chuckled.
"I know what you mean, sometimes if I try to quietly sneak out of the house my cat starts following you meowing like crazy as if she is asking you 21 questions. 'where are you going?' 'How long will you be out?' 'Can I come with you?' it really is quite cute." The only time when it had not been as adorable was the time Mitsukai had to run away from home because Nami would try and kill her friend. The poor little thing looked so worried over her, following her all the way to the door. Crying out loudly for her to come back. At least now Ammani was thrilled to see Mitsukai again though sometimes if she needed to leave during the night she still looked afriad Mitsukai would disappear and never come back again.
"Have you had many? Cats, I mean?" "I miss mine. Princess, her name was."
"Thats a cute name." She replied. "And Ammani's the only cat I ever had, my first pet really." Mitsukai loved animals with a passion but had never had a real pet until now. Her relatives hated pets, particularly cats. The only reason she had one now was by chance. She had found the little kitten being hurt by a bunch of elementary school punks, she and her friend Drea had taken the feline to the vet, got her fixed up and she took her home. Mitsukai was happy to have saved the little creature and Ammani gave her thanks for that deed everyday by simply being there for her. She really loved that feline more than anything else.

A little smile to place when she talked about this Ammani of hers. Loving pets were salvation, if you weren't too weak to accept their blessing. Princess had been loving, and he missed her, but Mother and Father hadn't wanted to have another cat too soon after Princess, they had said. That was years ago now, but now when he was living on his own, maybe now he could consider it. Cats were lovely creatures, their natures lending them great capacity for caring, and their minds too uncomplicated to burden them with the same capacity for weakness inherent to humanity. Also, their way of playing was something Adrian could relate to, and had often found inspirational as a child.
Her first pet? Well, by the looks of it she was able to take care of it, and that was the main matter. He shook his head, it was rather annoying to have images of strangled people distract him every time this subject came up. Then again, people who couldn't pets properly, especially cats, and refused to recognize it, needed to be... denied the ability to cause further harm.
It was only then that Adrian's mind got around to chewing through the name Ammani. Until then, it had not occurred to him as odd that someone would want to name their pet after a clothing company, but then he remembered that increasingly few people identified with their chosen clothing labels, and apparently those few who did and still had something remotely interesting to say did so as an odd attempt at humour. "So, erh..." He tugged absent-mindedly at his ear, his mind constructing a sentence that shouldn't seem too odd. "Ammani? Where's that from?" He chuckled briefly, it seemed to be the right time to do so. "I don't suppsoe you named her after a brand of clothes?"

"Ammani? Where's that from?" "I don't suppsoe you named her after a brand of clothes?"
"Theres a brand with that name?" she asked, blinking in surprise. Mitsukai was not into fashion so naturally she did not know much about brand name stuff.
"Her name is an Indian name, It means....." She paused a moment to think. "One who shows the path....or something along those lines. I have a thing for Indian names so thats why I chose that for her."

"Oh, heh. I didn't know that." He smiled, a little embarrassed. He wasn't too pleased to be caught in a spot of ignorance. "Sounds about right, though. Cats are little miracle workers." At least, some of them were. But a cat treated with love would love back just as much. People, psh, people were selfish morons. Of course, he had also learned a bit from watching Princess hunt the odd mouse and bird in the garden of their old house, but people could rarely seem to sympathize with that. Because they were morons. "Nothing like the purr of a loving cat to make a shitty day good, is there?"

she nodded in agreement. "Definitely, a cat's purr has a soothing effect. No matter how bad you feel hearing it purr when you cuddle with it on the couch always makes you feel better." Thats how she felt about it anyway. It was something that she normally would not admit to anyone else. Not because she had an image to keep up but it was an awkward topic that not a lot of people would understand. But Adrian seemed to get it and that's why she felt comfortable talking to him about it. "I got to admit I am a bit surprised you like cats so much." she said honestly. "Not a lot of people are into animals. It's kind of nice to know I am not alone."

Nodding in agreement, he would cock his head slightly to a side, studying her. She seemed to be genuine in what she said, not least because he could see no upside in lying about a thing like this, but people could always surprise you. But not her, she meant it. Good. People without compassion deserved none, and the only way to see if someone possessed that one virtue was by studying their relationship with their pets, children or family. Those without these, well, he gave them the detriment of the doubt.
He cocked a brow when she admitted her surprise of him, then smiled again. "I guess I'm much more of a cat-person than a people-person." Only too effing true. "Though I gotta say, you didn't quite strike me as the type either. You know, with all the sparring and the violence." He chuckled, seeing the irony of his words. "I guess we're not too different, after all. It's nice, to find someone who, understands." He let out a quick burst of laughter, at the irony of the whole situations, but he could feel his nerves ganging up on him again. "And here, of all places!" He indicated the cafeteria, and the school by extension, with a wide sweep of his hand. "I must admit, I hadn't expected that." He'd have to be really careful now, he could feel his control slowly unravelling, and nothing good ever came of that.

"I guess I'm much more of a cat-person than a people-person."
From what she had seen that was probably very true. Mitsukai was by no means a people person either. She always had some problem with someone. Though since she came to this school things had become a little less violent and awkward she still had issues with dealing with people. It was something that probably would never really go away.
"Though I gotta say, you didn't quite strike me as the type either. You know, with all the sparring and the violence."
"Guess we are both full of surprises then." If she thought about it she did not seem like the type of person that would be interested in animals. Thus is why when she was drawing her cat earlier she had tried to hide it. It was a personal weakness that she did not want outsiders to know about. People tend to use ones own weakness against them simply out of boredom or spite. It was not worth the trouble if someone else knew what she was into. It was something she would have liked to protect.
"I guess we're not too different, after all. It's nice, to find someone who, understands." "And here, of all places!" "I must admit, I hadn't expected that."
"It's true..." she admitted. "I have met quite a few people in this school but not someone that I had this much in common with. It's kind of amusing." It was true, they did seem to have a few things about them that were similar. They both were more of the solitary type, both were keen on fighting from the looks of it and both had a soft side for cats. It was strange but in a good way. Mitsukai had never thought she would meet someone like this, especially a guy. It seemed like she was more awkward with guys in general then she was with girls and she was not sure why. It was just like that and would probably always be like that save for Matrim of course. She was rather comfortable being around Matrim and now Adrian was another man. Maybe she was changing in a way she did not notice before. Hopefully that would not come back to bite her in the ass.

A few moments of silence ensued, none of them seemingly having much more to say. Adrian scratched absent-mindedly at the back of his neck, he was in dangerous new territory here. He needed to leave, the fact that they shared something meant she was all the more likely to see through the façade. He rose awkwardly, he needed to leave, that feeling was getting stronger. "I'd best get going, get my stuff ready for next lesson and all." He smiled as best he could, there was a slight red mist on the edges of his vision, and it was growing stronger. "It was, uhm, nice talking to you again. Take care now." He took a few steps away from her, then stopped and turned hesitantly. "I, uhm... I hope to see you around. Soon."
He felt weird for almost an hour afterwards, before the tediousness of the day managed to wash that strange feeling from his mind. He could breathe properly again, finally, no longer feeling as though there was that extra layer of weight on his chest, and his demons were safely locked in their cages. Still he wondered why he had turned around, why he had stopped walking, even for second. He would have to be careful, steel himself. He couldn't afford to let slip, not here, not anywhere.

There was a moment of silence between them and for some reason it felt a bit awkward. More awkward then it normally would be if it were someone else and she did not know why. She was used to running out of things to say in conversations since she was after all not very talkative by nature, it would happen from time but for her to actually feel as awkward about it as she did now was rather odd.
"I'd best get going, get my stuff ready for next lesson and all."
he said finally breaking the silence, she did not argue with that though some part of her did not want him to leave just yet. Is, is something wrong with me? she thought for a moment puzzled. It was unlike her to care like this, maybe something WAS wrong.
"It was, uhm, nice talking to you again. Take care now."
"Y-yeah..." she fumbled, great now she was even acting awkward too. Something had to be up but what? She watched him walk away, only to realize that she was staring at him leave. Look away you idiot before h-
"I, uhm... I hope to see you around. Soon."
Shit he turned around. God she hoped he did not think she was staring. Why was she suddenly acting like a weirdo. What if he thought she was some sort of freak?
"See ya later." she said, regaining some of her composure fast enough before he left. Breathing a heavy sigh after he disappeared Mitsukai would pack her things to get ready to leave. She also had class soon and needed to get ready. At least now she had the time to try and distract herself from the sudden awkwardness, hopefully she wouldn't act this weird the next time they meet.
