Autumn stood in front of the mirror. She wore a blood red dress that went to her knees. It tied up behind her neck and formed into a sort of v shape on her chest. She slipped on the annoying silver heels her mother insisted she wear. A long drawn out growl erupted from her as she looked her self over.
"Maaaaawwwwwwwwmmmmm! I don't want to wear this! Why can't I just wear normal clothes?" "Because! You should let the boy see the nicer side of you sometimes."
Autumn gagged into the mirror and pulled her long black and red hair out of the ponytail. It fell down around her shoulders and hung down around past her waist. She sighed and brushed her long hair real quick then wandered out in the dress. Her mother was bustling about the kitchen and Demon was playing with the twins. Tyler and Lily, both girls were sitting on the rather large dog and pulling at his fur giggling and drooling. Autumn walked past them towards the kitchen and Demon and the twins looked up at her. Autumn still had a few bandages but for the most part she had ripped most of them off when she got home. The mains ones left were the ones around her ribs.
"Do I really have to?" "Yes."
Carol turned to see her daughter and smiled brightly.
"Oh how lovely! Certainly this boy will be happy to see you."
Autumn scowled and her mother walked circles around her as if she were a buzzard circling a piece of freshly killed raccoon. After a moment her mother pulled a bit of red lipstick from her purse which sat on one of the kitchen counters. She grabbed Autumn's face gently in her hands and put the lipstick on her.
"There, and your eyes are so pretty you can leave them alone. You should try to look a little pleasing dear. Don't look so angry."
Autumn continued to glare.
"I. Want. My. Pants."
Carol just smiled and shooed her daughter out of the kitchen. Autumn sighed and walked out into the living room. She bent over and picked up the twins. They oohed and pulled at their mother's long hair. Little Lily nestled her self against her mother's chest listening to Autumn's heart thump softly. Autumn smiled at them as Tyler wrapped her tiny hands around a long red streak in Autumn's hair. She tugged gently and Autumn raised a brow. The child let go and giggled just before giving the most innocent look she could. Autumn had both of them dressed in little black dresses so that they were able to move their legs freely. She walked off towards her room to finished tending to little things such as pinning her v-neck part of the dress closed a bit. A little bit too much of the young girls chest was exposed. As soon as this was finished Demon began to growl and Autumn heard a knock on the door. She took both Tyler and Lily out and put them in their high chairs on either side of her chair.
Autumn walked from there to the door and she opened it to reveal Adrian. Autumn would have slammed the door in his face had her mother not stepped out to set the food down on the table and seen him.
"Oh! Adrian, you came. That is wonderful, please come in."
Autumn gave him a hateful look and stepped out of the way. She was clearly uncomfortable in her get up and didn't move with any grace what so ever in this dress. She shut the door after he had stepped in and pushed past him with no hesitation as her mother went about getting dinner set out on the table.
"mmmmmmummmumumumu!"
Little lily carried on and put her arms out for Autumn. Demon stood beside the high chairs and glared at the boy who he had remembered. To the dog, the scent of blood on this boy was still strong and it angered him to see him being let in once again. Autumn glanced down at Demon and made a soft sound that sounded like a reprimand. The dog sat but continued to eye the boy. Autumn hoisted Lily into her arms and gently blew on the small baby's cheek. Laughing the little girl squirmed, her tiny arms flailing wildly. Autumn turned her attention to Adrian.
"Hope you like pot roast. Mom may have gone over board."
She set lily back in her chair and motioned for him to come and sit at the table. Her mother was happily humming in the kitchen when she calls out to him.
"Adrian, what would you like to drink dear? We have Soda, juice, water and tea."
Autumn bent over the other small child and kissed the little girl's head. Tyler giggled, drool running down her tiny pink mouth full of small teeth, onto her black dress and soaking it and making it darker. Autumn gently cleaned the drool up and Tyler turned her eyes in all seriousness to the new face. Lily did as well and both babies just stared at the new face. Finally... after a moment. Tyler grunted and put her arms up towards the boy. Autumn cleared her throat and gently took Tyler's hands in hers and drew the child's attention by making a silly sound. Soon dinner was ready, everything was set and Autumn, uncomfortably took her seat between the two highchairs.

Adrian had done something he normally didn't for this evening; he had tried to look nice. It wasn't that it was all that hard for him, but it was something he only did rarely, usually only when Mother or Father were having friends over, or that one time they'd been to aunts fifth wedding. He was wearing a white, freshly ironed shirt and a pair of black trousers, of the kind you usually found in a tuxedo. Of course, on top of that was a black jacket and a pair of leather gloves. He'd overdone it a little with the fine, black shoes he had been gifted for his confirmation, but that was all part of the act. He needed to appear nervous, shy, eager to make contact with people. It would make him seem harmless.
Standing in front of the door, he momentarily considered stepping into the shadows and scoping the house out a bit before, but decided against it. The dog might sense him, and thus cause unwanted attention to be drawn to him. Couldn't have that. His knuckles found the door the following second. A little while later the door was opened, and Adrian found himself... affected, by Autumn's appearance. Get it together! Their eyes met, and he remembered why he was there. He was there to teach her a lesson.
Carol greeted him, and he smiled and waved at her in response. She seemed nice, and by the scent in the air he found it safe to judge her a good cook. A free meal was never a bad thing, his economy could always use a little nudge in the right direction. With all the money he spent on supplies for his hunts and his vegetarian lifestyle, there wasn't much left. "It smells lovely." He declared with a big smile on his face, taking off his coat and hanging it on the nearest available coat-hanger. Then his sensitive nose picked up the distinctive scent of cooked meat, and a dark sense of joy spread within him. Walking over to the pot, looking cautious, careful. He took a slow look and let his face fall into sad folds. "I, uhm... Autumn, sweetie?" He turned his back on Carol and looked Autumn in the eyes, appearing genuinely sad and surprised. "You, errh... You did tell your mother that I'm a vegetarian, right?" She hadn't, of course, she didn't know. She barely knew him, and he intended to use that against her. "I'm, I'm sorry." He stammered, turning around to face Carol, his face expressing a sadness that was only marginally honest. "I-I should've said."

Autumn didn't trust Adrian. Not in the slightest. The thought of him being so close to her, to her children, it drove her mad. Also, what was with that look when she had opened the door? You would think the kid would have never seen a girl in a dress before. Granted... Autumn looked fairly decent in her dress. It did show off her assets and things of the like. Though the scars were also seen. The ones she tried so hard to keep hidden under her dark clothes. In either case, if that look was the one she thought it was, she might actually be able to win this. She wasn't afraid to take advantage of the boy perhaps becoming fixated with her features. If that were the case it would make offing him a whole lot easier. She didn't expect the gasp that came from Carol right when she heard that Adrian wasn't into eating meat. Autumn's eyes kinda fixed on him. He was good. Very good. He was playing on the fact that Carol liked the idea of being a proper hostess and she couldn't rightly serve meat to someone who didn't eat it. The next thing Autumn knew Carol was rushing into the kitchen and dragging Autumn with her.
"Do not worry Adrian dear, I will make you a very nice dinner."
She had called to him. Once Autumn and her were in the kitchen she began to whisper her annoyance at Autumn and how the young female hadn't mentioned that the boy didn't eat meat. Autumn felt very uneasy that her children were out there with Adrian but she trusted Demon to watch them. The dog was doing just that. He had put him self between Adrian and the babies. A soft growl from the dog made it clear that he wasn't toying around. The whispers of Carol's lecture to Autumn could be heard along with the occasional whine from Autumn. After a few minutes of this Autumn stepped out of the kitchen an angry glare fixed on Adrian. Her hand raised in a not so nice gesture. The twins giggled gleefully at the sight of their mother. She walked over to them and stroked a gentle hand through their thick dark hair.
"Mother says she hopes you enjoy a vegetable stew she had made yesterday. She's warming it up and adding more to it so it tastes better then it did yesterday."
Autumn said in a rather bored and annoyed tone. She moved over to the boy, a hand gently grasping at his shirt as she growled out at him.
"Your threat earlier... you might think you have me... but you have nothing. Absolutely N-" "Okay dear here is the stew!"
Autumn had to think fast, if Carol caught her holding onto the boy like this... well there would be some explaining to do. In a panic Autumn did the only thing that came to her mind. With out much of a thought (For it were probably better she not think about it), Autumn pressed her lips against Adrian's. She held him firmly in place and as Carol stepped out to see the sight she kind of cleared her throat and set the stew on the table. Autumn acted as though she were embarrassed to be caught and quickly turned Adrian loose.
"Sorry mom. I... well... Adrian and I..." "No need to explain dear, just not in front of the children please." "Yes mom."
With that Autumn moved back over to her chair and Carol began to serve Adrian his dinner. Autumn could feel the bile rising once again in her throat. She began to scream inside her head because of what she had done. Quickly, with out Carol seeing, Autumn wiped her mouth and rubbed at it with the napkin that was in front of her chair. She then took her seat looking innocent as could be. Carol then turned her attention to helping Autumn feed the children. Demon walked off into the kitchen to enjoy his own dinner.

Having Carol cook up meat was an unexpected treat, another little injury to Autumn's standing in the eyes of her mother. Of course, he'd have to be careful not to pull one of these too often, or Carol might get suspicious, but in this one case it had been necessary. In truth, he was a vegetarian, and had been for almost five years. Eating meat was something he considered loathsome and barbaric, though he was also rather sure that should he start now, he'd spend most of the evening in the bathroom, having his intestines making their displeasure known. But, Adrian being who he was, he smiled as he saw Carol drag Autumn into the kitchen and heard the muffled sounds of what he assumed was Autumn being told off. Adrian then turned his attention to the children.
Adrian had always liked children, they were young, pure, full of hope and promise. Of course, most were ruined by incapable parents, adding yet another nail into Tomorrow's coffin, but Autumn hadn't appeared to have spoiled or otherwise destroyed these ones yet. He took a step towards the the twins, smiling as he felt a slight softness come over his heart. That feeling was immediately brushed aside when the family's mutt planted itself between him and them, establishing the boundary with a growl. Hmm, at least they are protected from one kind of danger, Adrian mused. He briefly toyed with the idea of letting the mutt know who was the Alpha in the room, but discarded it almost as quick. Making the dog submit would draw all the wrong kinds of attention, and would surely give Autumn the out she needed. He'd be kicked out, unable to return.
Autumn returned, bringing with her a happy message and bringing even more joy to Adrian's life with her little gesture. He was still smiling when she grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him close, confident that she would not hurt him in front of her family. If she did, well, there were knives on that table, and she would truly have proven herself an unworthy mother. However, when Carol came back, what she did was even worse than he had imagined. He had to fight himself not to cringe away from her show of false affection, he felt impurity on his lips. When she let go, he once again had to fight himself not to spit out the feeling of wrong. He waited until Carol's attention was on Autumn before he vigorously rubbed off the impure feeling into a napkin. He waited wit taking a seat until Autumn had, staying in character. It didn't seem like they were the type of family to say grace, thank goodness, and so Adrian began eating as soon as the others were done taking what they wanted. He was unsurprised to find that the food was, despite being an emergency meal, also a very well-tasting one, and he could see, by virtue of cooking himself, that Carol had included a lot of healthy stuff into the dish. "I must say, Ms. Thompson." He said, taking a short break from eating. "This is lovely! May I have the recipe afterwards." It seemed to Adrian that women liked men who could cook, and it was his hope that Carol would be likewise affected and thus come to trust him more. Not that he had intentions of hurting her, he was growing rather acceptive of her presence, the world needed more women like this one. "Autumn, darling, you never told me your mother was such a great chef."

Autumn turned her chair a little bit as she began to set up the food for the twins. Her own dinner sat on her plate getting cold as usual. Carol went right along eating and letting Autumn tend to her children. This was, excluding Adrian and Autumn in her nice clothes, a normal family dinner. Autumn always made sure the children ate first. Once they were done, their little stomachs full, they would be ready for a bit of play time or perhaps a nap. Autumn smiled at her twins. Tyler and Lily giggled gleefully and clapped their hands. Their cheeks still a bit chubby and cute. Autumn took up two spoons and put the baby food on the ends. Not too much, just enough though. She leaned forward to bring the food to the children's mouths. Lily happily leaned forward for the food but Tyler kind of turned her head away. Tyler had a rather irritable belly and so she often did this. Autumn would purse her lip for a moment in thought before she lowered Tyler's spoon. Lily happily let her own food drip out the side of her mouth as she made happy eating sounds.
"Now Tyler, every night we play this game. Mommy says it is time to eat and you don't want what I have. What is it you are expecting me to do? Run off and get something else? It wont be done like that. I'm the mom here, not you. Now... open and eat up. Look, Lily likes it." "Omnomnom nom nom nom omnom!"
Lily happily said with a smile on her cute little face. She turned her attention to her sister and reached over gently poking Tyler. Out of the two, Tyler had the darkest hair and skin. The only thing on her face that resembled Autumn were the brown eyes. They held innocence that Autumn had once had in her own eyes. Even now, as the young headstrong child turned her nose up in the air with a pout, there was still innocence. With a sigh Autumn shifted in her chair and took a sip of her glass of tea. Lily's mouth waited open for another spoon full like a little bird. Autumn noticed and slipped another spoon full of the baby food into Lily's mouth. Carol would smile happily at Adrian's words. Autumn would simply roll her eyes. A smile crossed her lips though clearly fake.
"Oh, but Adrian... I didn't think it needed to be mentioned. After all, most mothers do cook well. Perhaps, one day I will get to taste your mother's cooking."
She said with a glance over to him. Carol looked back at Autumn as Tyler finally gave in to her hunger and opened her mouth. Carol gently motioned to Tyler and Autumn returned to feeding the twins.
"Oh of course Adrian. I would be glad to give you the recipe. I think it is so wonderful that you cook. Autumn cooks as well, though she doesn't like to talk about it much."
Carol added the last part just as she caught a look from Autumn. The young 15 year old girl returned to her children. She was a doting mother, attending to them the way her mother had not been able to for her. Every now and again a napkin would be picked up and their faces cleaned of any baby mush and drool. Both children made happy little sounds at their mother's attention and occasionally would stare over at the boy who was a new face in their family.
"She has many talents now that I think about it. Her art, her guitar. I keep telling her though, she should become a cook. She puts alot of passion into that."
Autumn's eye twitched a little as she bit down on the inside of her cheek and continued to feed her children. Their happy faces keeping her from losing her control.
"So, how long have you and Autumn been... dating... Adrian?"
Autumn's eye twitched again and she turned to speak but Tyler bit her lip and began to cry. Quickly Autumn stood out of her chair and picked Tyler up. She set the small child on her hip and gently dabbed at the bitten lip with the napkin that rested by her plate.
"Shhh shhh... It's okay Tyler. Look, mommy does it too."
Then Autumn bit her own lip with a slight wince. Tyler blinked and reached up as tears continued to run down her little face. Her small baby fingers gently prodded at her mother's mouth as she stared wide eyed at Autumn. This was Autumn's way of teaching Tyler and Lily that people would accidentally hurt them selves and that it hurt but wasn't something to cry about. Tyler's hand moved up to her mother's eyes and gently felt around for the tears that would come when she bit her own lip. Lily watched wide eyed as well and once Tyler had calmed her self, Autumn set the child back in the chair, cleaned away any tears then kissed the child on the forehead leaving a redish colored lipstick mark. Autumn would promptly wipe that away. She smiled at the twins then made a face for them to giggle at. She puffed out her cheeks and went cross eyed. Both babies erupted in giggles and squeals at their mother's silly face. All this left Adrian time to speak with Carol and pick his own flow for the story. Autumn didn't notice though. Her mind was on her children as it always was.
