Description of style: The roots of modern mixed martial arts can be traced back to various mixed style contests that took place throughout Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim during the early 1900s. The combat sport of Vale Tudo that had developed in Brazil from the 1920s was brought to the United states by the Gracie family in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Professional MMA events had also been held in Japan by Shooto starting back in 1989. In due course the more dangerous Vale Tudo style bouts of the early UFC's were made safer with the implementation of additional rules, leading to the popular regulated form of MMA seen today. Originally promoted as a competition with the intention of finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat situations, competitors were pitted against one another with minimal rules. Later promoters adopted many additional rules aimed at increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance of the sport.
The name mixed martial arts was coined by Rick Blume, president and CEO of Battlecade, in 1995. Following these changes, the sport has seen increased popularity with pay per view reach rivalling boxing and professional wrestling.

History Information

The life of Lucan is not one for the feint of heart, while his birth and upbringing were built off instrumental processes his later years were deemed to be plague and wrought with horror.

Born off the Northern Coast of Whales Lucan never knew his true family, he was quickly given away to what most would call a transient band of gypsy's. Though these Transients had more than just a running list of tricks, the band known as the brethren kept a steady watch over them. This subsection known only as the Darkyn grew from an ancient brand of deep seated magic and the paranormal. Lucan himself at the age of six was decided to be the newest Patriarch of the faith. Being not of the pure-blood line he was ridiculed and this choice was quite controversial even to the point when those who raised him botched several inscriptions on his back in order to give him immense pain.

By the time Lucan was ten he'd already understood a deep level of understanding of the ancient world let alone his own past and the future events to unfold. But he'd only known so much of the world itself living in a band of tricksters and gypsies the young boy knew only how to pass as Carnie folk.

For the next few years he planned an escape attempt, to rid himself of the world that'd been plotted out for him. One night he'd bolted loose from the hell that'd been created for him and was amok on the people of London. Running his tricks and ancient arts Lucan was unstoppable that was until he met Richard Tremayne.

Richard Tremayne was a man in league with the Brethren, one of the Hierarchal of the brotherhood he had a monstrously large arsenal of weapons at his disposal to counter Lucan's understanding. Now rule was in the Brethren's scrolls to kill all Darkyn who disobeyed the code of honor, however working against the code Richard saw potential and taught Lucan more than his carnal mind could contain telling the boy that one day he'd be far more than this empty shell. A few weeks after escaping he was returned to the Gypsies and live out his life until he was about eighteen.

In a passionate rage the flames of fervor escaped across the countryside, the Castle of Tremayne burned across the night's sky sending those few Darkyn who'd been bred in the recent years across the nights sky. Lucan sitting at the burning throne with a dark laugh. Richard Tremayne entering through the pyres.

Richard Tremayne ~ The man who practically raised Lucan as he is this day and sadly the closest thing he may call a father. As much as Lucan hates Tremayne, he serves the man dutifully as his best assassin, the man is a big hurtle in both his past and future.
