The Darkest Days Things had continued on since that eventful day at Public High School #259, the day the Tower Guard had plundered the school in its violent assault against not only the student body but its teachers, administrators, and even the very walls themselves. It was a travesty seeing those injured; each smudged face blistered and bruised from the fighting and even more so struck by a cast of lightning leaving them without the chance to even flee. Jayr herself was one of the lucky ones not to have suffered any major injuries, she was left however with a secret would though.
Her long legs swayed from side to side as she entered the hospital for the third day in a row, her patented heels clicking against the floor as she went. Jayr's head hung low in a quiet sense, her eyes veiled behind glazed visionaries, everything about her represented a subversive mourner, even her stance;hands buckled together one holding the wrist as the other swayed gently in place centered at the lap region.
The soft taps of her walking signaled an approach to room 418. The very same room she'd been visiting the last couple of days as she went along time after time she felt drawn to this place. Coupled however with fear and perhaps guilt Jayr would sigh. Her body slouching as she stood at the corner of the door and the hallway not visible to the patient inside. As she did so her body would lean against the wall and hands would come to her chest feeling the tremors pound in her chest. Why did she have to relive the memory each day?
"Jayr is that you?" The bright yet reserved voice came from within.
Instantly Jayr's face would turn upward into a smile, her hands buckling around the purse in her hand and her legs would kick off the wall swinging idly inward towards the doorway.
"Yeah It's me Jessie." Jayr would reply in a sweet although bashful tone, one hand still cupped around the bag as the other picked up to caress the back of her own head, her eyes squinting slightly to put away the rouge color in her cheeks as she was instantly caught red handed.
"I'm glad you came again, was beginning to think I was scaring you off." The girl would say from behind bandages.
Jayr would shift to a reassuring smile once again with a shake of her head rejecting the thought altogether. She was always here for her, in fact sometimes it was that she needed Jayr more than the other way around. That kept her strongly associated. Tied toward the heartstrings.
Jessica (Jessie) McCarthy Jessica was for the most part a normal teenage girl. No older than 16 could be assumed by her physical appearance as she stood at full height no more than 5'2" but what made up for in height was her fiery personality. At least around people she knew that is. Jessica had very sharp features those that stood out amongst others as a very intellectual person, and those features were only bolstered by her choice in hair dye, subjugated to a very intense hue of red and orange. However for the time being Jess was subjugated to something she loathed, a temporary paralysis. Her body was coated in many stripes of gauze which covered her mid-torso downward. Though relatively unnoticeable in a hospital bed, once out of it she would be unable to move without the use of a wheelchair. The shocking part of the matter was, she was not permanently paralyzed so the Doctor's stated; While no issues were seen in the spine or lower ligaments the paralysis is unexplainable and potentially psychological.
Jayr had smiled hearing that as did Jessica, the chances were good but the true issue was determining the source. How was one to regain apt skill despite having no professional knowledge of a cure. What a stressful dilemma.
"Not a chance, you still owe me some Ice cream after all." Jayr joked bringing up another day as she'd beaten Jess at war several times settling that the victor would be subjugated to buying the other ice cream.
A conjoined giggle from each of the girls as they sat their in the room, Jayr taking to Jessica's side in a small lounge chair and nestling up close enough that was friendly. Though the image still stuck there in her head, the small girl frail and scared lying there on the ground shuddering from the pain of the shock.
"Okay so anything you want to do today? Skies the limit."
Jayr would say excitably.
Just as that was said a moment of cool contemplation crossed over Jessica's face before a mixture of messages appeared there. Confusion, hesitance, and even the short wisp of fear, before suddenly morbid solidarity. The sudden strange flow of tears in her eyes matched with a serious face consumed by sheer focus. "Take me home."
Shock and Awe.

Messing with my Brain Rejecting the request in her head Jayr would recoil back from the bed, her hands settling in her lap and a sense of distress on her face notably. While she took to heart that she was a good actress there were always those small instances where her heart would be visible on her sleeve. This was one such occasion.
"You can't just yet honey...." Jayr would manage in a low and concerned tone.
The tears bubbling up in the girl's eyes across from her in the bed as Jessica writhed at the hem of the sheet in apparent angst. No one had told her just yet, or at least thats what Jayr had assumed, though the doctors were overworked from the event at school at least they should have the courage to step up and tell the poor girl of her fate. Those writhing hands balling up into cupped fists lashing out at the nearest subject which happened to be a wall. Jess would knock straight throw it, the cratering effect rippling a few inches outward.
"You've been requested to stay overnight, or at least until you've been supplied a wheelchair."
The word spoken truthfully as eyes of caution watched the girl's reaction. But that would be the surprising factor in itself, Jess didn't take kindly to being ordered around. Firm fists worked down towards her sides as she'd press herself up, the pain obvious on her features.
"I can walk, I don't need help."
*Crash*
The splintering chaos emerged as Jayr leaped up not fast enough to catch Jessica's descent, but enough to protect from further damage as Jayr cushioned the fall. The collateral mess overflowing thus making the room itself a hazard. In a swift moment the team of doctors rushing in would amplify the situation. Shock on their features as they expected explosions coming in only to see Jayr pinned to the floor by a girl with lack of motor functions below the waist.
"Back to work." The lead would call out as he stepped forward, a singular grin on his face. "Quite a mess the two of you are in."
His tone deeply sarcastic as his gaze seemed demeaning. "HaHa." Jayr would match with ample tone ejecting a hand from beneath Jess offering a motive of aid. "A hand?"
"Of course, Mrs. Byrne."
"Jayr."
The competitive banter shot back and forth as Jessica's body stood as the only interfering factor. "QUIT FLIRTING ALREADY!" The rampant flurry of arms in the way would strike both Jayr and the lead doctor in the face sending them back and inch or two also dropping Jess in the process.
"Whoops Sorry!" They'd reply in unison red with embarrassment rushing forward and lifting her into the bed again.

He was worried It had been several days since that... Incident. His first day in the facility he was to be a part of, and already there had been mass destruction and chaos. He was relatively fine, surprisingly, and did not need to care for his wounds or anything for that matter. Why was he in the hospital then, you ask? He had been coming here every day since the incident looking for someone. However, he didn't know how or who to talk to to find out where she was. The person he had spent the most amount of time with privately to an extent in almost the whole of his life, and he didn't even know who she was. She was delirious or half-conscious most of the time he had been with her. She was fragile, like a newborn babe. She was the first person he had found who seemed more helpless than he was. His first time in society, outside of the walls of the research facility. His first time being unchained since he was on The Island. Even now he still had worn the broken handcuffs on his right wrist. Oh how he missed it. The golden sandy beaches, the warm weather, the welcoming atmosphere. His animal friends, the safety, the security, the consistency. That was a world that never changed, a world that was perfect in his eyes. He was in Their World now, however, and this was a world of malice, inconsistency, aggressiveness. He did not feel safe here. That was the reason he wanted to find the girl. She was something which could help him forget how dangerous the world was, something he could protect. If he had something to protect, perhaps he could find courage to carry on. If he had something to--- "QUIT FLIRTING ALREADY!"His thoughts stopped, his ears perked up, he straightened his back. Anyone watching him would either think of him as a dog or monkey, seeing him do this while on all fours. That voice sounded familiar, however much more livelier than before, and angered. Perhaps he had finally found who he was looking for? He rushed over to where the sound came from, ready to do anything that needed to be done. "Whoops Sorry!"He nudged the door open slightly more with his head, and found... The injured girl on the ground, the person who had brought them both to safety on one side, and other people around the room. Whatever was the disturbance before, it seemed like things had calmed down. The adrenaline from before dying down, "Adam" returned to his quiet shy self, and slowly crawled into the room. "He...llo?"His voice quiet yet able to span the whole room like a murmur. "Adam" spoke slowly and was rather embarrassed at speaking up in the first place. He was just excited to see people he recognized. After speaking up, he would move forward, and examine the injured girl with interest and concern, and then shy back a couple steps if she didn't recognize him.

If the Bumps weren't enough. Jess would narrow her vision quickly on both Jayr and the doctor who seemed rather young considering which had brought her to the statement. Well yes of course that and the simple fact that she enjoyed being a pain whenever Jayr seemed stupendously happy, which was every other moment.
Having been newly asserted once more into her bed Jess snuggled in without contempt that they'd let her fall, she'd just let them writhe for a moment....maybe two as it would seem for their actions.
"He...llo?"
Everyone in the room's attention turned towards the door, each with their own expression. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "Hey." Jayr would interject quickly, the first to cut off all the others. With a twist of her body and the quick flick of her hair being parted over her shoulder she was by far a stark contrast to what she was that fateful day, let alone the simple fact that she resembled every girl's dream of beauty and every boy's fantasy at times.
"I'm sorry you can't" Jayr would immediately step forward with an arm in place to stop the doctor's forward usherings to tell the boy to get out of here. "Sorry Doc, but he's 'her brother'." Jayr would lie through her teeth turning her head with a nod to the boy accepting him in.
"Hi there, bro." Jess would say with a peppy voice and a largely over exaggerated wink towards him. At this point it was obvious none could keep the cover up very long and the Doctor would get to kicking all of them out. "Don't mind me," With a quick movement Jayr would sidestep the boy "Adam" and press her hand to the Doctor's back ushering him respectively out the door before turning around with a large sigh and leaning against it.
"Hi, I didn't expect to see you here..?" Jayr would say one more with a livelier voice not budging from her spot but giving a warm smile of acceptance into the fray. "Yea, figured you'd be smarter than her and bolt." Jess would say with a lackluster response bearing resentment to people aiding her. It meant love in her own strange mixed up mannerisms.

"Hey."
Well, it seemed "Adam" was recognized. That was nice. To be recognized. People always just referred to him as if he wasn't there before, and this made him feel more... Human "Adam" Moved forward a tad.
"I'm sorry you can't"
This man scared "Adam". He was in the same white outfit as the researchers. They were not... Human, only caring for their own goals and means to them. They viewed people as subjects, and not beings. "Adam" slowly backed away.
"Sorry Doc, but he's 'her brother'."
"Adam" perked up at this. Brother? He had long ago understood the concept of brotherhood. A Brother was someone you could trust, someone who was meant to protect his younger sibling. An honorable character that would never betray the Family...
Did this mean he was a part of their... Family?
"Hi there, bro."
She winked at him. He felt more safe here than anywhere before. He was... Home? "Adam" moved forward, but found the rather... Smooth?... Clean?... Pretty?... Woman was in his way. For some reason he didn't notice her there as he was caught in his own thoughts..
"Don't mind me,"
The Man in white was removed from the room, and with it all of "Adam"s troubles.
"Hi, I didn't expect to see you here..?"
"Adam" didn't hear her, he was in his own... World now...
"Yea, figured you'd be smarter than her and bolt."
"Adam" stood upright, and looked down on the injured girl, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Sis...ter?"[/b]

Strangeness all around. "Sis...ter?" [/b] Jess simply replied with a dull stare in response, something like she was contemplating to demean him or whether she figured it ideally bad for her in this position. Looking back on it the boy had helped save her just as Jayr had, but in the same right she still couldn't stand being around people who didn't see things her way. "Okay we're done playing house now." She'd snap in a heavy sarcastic tone directed at the boy and then looking up to Jayr for support in this prognosis, but she seemed just as out of the conversation as Jess was at this point, there was no room to interject after a response like that. "You did know we were kidding right?" Jess would replicate the winking motion once more to give him an example.[/blockquote] *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "Okay we're done playing house now."
Jayr would comtemplate flashing Jess a look of anger but couldn't manage it in all honesty, she was off a bit by his response. Something in the words he said gave her the impression he wasn't all too cognitive of the situation he was in. Pursing her lips Jayr tilted her weight unto her hip casually, an index finger placed against them in a thoughtful expression considering that this wasn't all simply just another boy with low self esteem trying to garter attention. Regardless she was more than willing to accept him regardless. It was in her nature to do so.
"Do you have a name?" She'd manage to ask respectably moving from her door side position moving towards his side careful to not touch him out of her own cautiousness.

"You did know we were kidding right?"
Seeing the reaction that was made, and the tone of the reply, "Adam" understood the situation as best as he could. At first he reasoned that this was yet another test by his research buddies and they were in on it. He stiffened and raised his defenses. A look of embarrassment crossed his face.
Then he realized that they might have used that ploy in order to get the... Researcher like-man out of the room, thus protecting "Adam" in their own way. "Adam"s face showed melancholic understanding, and he smiled. Of course this wouldn't happen as such given the circumstances. He then realized how much he had made the situation much more awkward. He hadn't been near members of the opposite sex under normal circumstances such as these, and understood this would have been a different circumstance altogether if he was with men here. He scratched the back of his head abashedly.
""Do you have a name?"
He then realized--- Human customs called for a given title before actual conversation and strengthening a relationship. How badly he failed at this... Society concept...
"Adam" rather awkwardly bowed towards her and murmured a reply, offering his hand. He didn't understand this custom as much, though perhaps it was a way to show that he did not have anything in his dominant hand to harm the other person.
"A-Adam... Uhm..??"
If he was given a response, he would turn his head embarrassingly. At least he did something right. That wasn't the main reason he came here. He was worried about the young injured lady. He would move around looking for some documents that are usually near the patients bed showing their condition. At least that was how he was treated in the Research Facility. Whether or not he found them, he would realize the futility of searching for papers since he could barely read. He would make a gesture towards the injured girl wondering how she was doing.

I wouldn't... "A-Adam... Uhm..??"
Jess watched still dumbfounded, however much better her humor was in comparison to Jayr's it seemed it was lost upon everyone in the room as most day it had before. To deal with this affliction Jess suffered from long days and long nights sitting pale faced before a computer screen nearly drooling at the mouth. However this was neither the time nor the place to participate in such demeaning actions of self procrastination, to combat the challenge of responding Jess reverted back to sarcasm. Her short arms pepped up blatantly and crossed over her chest still nestled back within the bed.
"I wouldn't touch him, probably has rabies."
Jess would state very bluntly with a foul taste in her mouth. Her eyes glowed over his feature not nit-picking about it....or maybe she was subtly. But not so much. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Jayr on the other hand reacted quite differently. With a bright eyed smile she'd lean over assuming of course that he was still in the animalistic stance. Shaking it dutifully she'd bear no ill will, however it seemed as though 'Miss Priss' had a different response.
"I wouldn't touch him, probably has rabies."
A rigid look from Jayr as she fired 'metaphorical' lazer beams from her eyes to strike down Jess in a cringing manner. Though the girl hardly reacted, just giggled and snuggled beneath the blanket. Jayr would simply make a large sigh and turn back to Adam with a kind smile and another firm shake before letting go,her hand would come to rest on his forearm if not shaken.
"Its nice to meet you Adam Ugh." She'd giggle a bit at her own strange humor. Hopefully it'd be enough to settle grievances, the power of laughter was more than most took it for.

No response. "Adam" shied away. This wasn't going right at all. He didn't know what to do, or how to act, what was the point in coming here anyways? He didn't know how to explain himself, they didn't understand, he was making things worse by just standing there making the situation even more awkward.
"I wouldn't touch him, probably has rabies."
He looked at her. She giggled slightly. He didn't understand what she said, but it didn't look like she meant any harm, or rather, he didn't see any repercussions from his failure to finish the customs. Maybe humans were more understanding than he thought, and before he realized it, his hand had been shaken. After she let go, he looked at his hand as if he had just won an award. He did something right!
""Its nice to meet you Adam Ugh."
At this "Adam" flushed with embarrassment. He had indeed messed up at the greeting customs. He didn't have a... A... Surname... He squirmed around for a tad, but was brought back into a comfortable atmosphere by both of their quiet laughter, and the realization that she had her hand on his arm, in a way that radiated honesty and safety. He felt warm, this was relatively his first time with people other than the researchers, and this his first experience out in society other than the hectic battlefield several days back. Society was redeemable, it seemed. He attempted a chuckle, but did not see the humor with what was going on, so stopped mid-laugh. He took on a more serious face, trying to contemplate how to explain himself.
He was very relieved to see that both of these girls had the competency to laugh in this given situation. It meant that all was well, or at least that was what he had ascertained from his contact with people so far. Though he didn't know what to do from here. Well, he had failed to obtain a name the first time, perchance he could try again. He thought back. What did she say originally that gave him the chance to respond?
Ah yes, it was... Do you have a name...? Like a Parrot, he would mimic the way she said it, with the same gestures she had given him. He had to do this right, he could still salvage this situation and get the greeting custom right. He had to, this was his perfect chance to get things right, so he knew how to do it later on. These people seemed like people he could talk to without worry.
"Do... You have... A name?"[/b]
As he was saying this, he copied the gestures she had made rather awkwardly, and the way he went about saying it was more like a parrot or recording than anything else, since the only thing he fully comprehended was the name part, and that by raising the voice at a specific time it turned the statement into a question.

Blatant Restraint "Do... You have... A name?"
Jayr blushed brightly, her face going red at the moment she'd forgotten the most common courtesy of all, she'd given him the respect he needed but forgot to add in the little factor of trust, there was trust in a name. A way of saying who you were straight forward, much like in older days those with the name carpenter were simply that, Carpenters.
"I'm Jayr." She returned her face to him looking quite attentively to once again shake his hand. A small bit of laughter following after thinking that perhaps somewhere along the lines she was in fact over doing it a tad. "And this is Jess."
However it was very obvious, she didn't know the extent of this boy's some would call defects, but to her they were differences that meant something. A firm smile in place through and through as she nodded curious as to what his afflictions were.
"Do you normally greet people like this Adam?" Jayr would ask curiously trying to beat around the bush and not direct him in a straightforward way. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Jess flinched at her name being mentioned to the strange boy, her cozy appearance in the snug bed looking like a bug suddenly sprung forth clumsily throwing her arms in the air out of pure defiance.
"Don't tell the strange guy my name!" Her lips didn't stop there, "Who knows he could stalk me and steal my organs and then sell them to pot dealers on the street!"
Jayr ignored her defiantly even to the point where she'd turn to close Jess out of the conversation. Jayr's back was now blocking Jess out from Adam screening her loud voice partially though in an enclosed room it did little help. "Fine, Ignore me its not like I'm crippled or anything!?"

She seemed to have forgotten the human customs as well, seeing as how after he asked the question she looked embarrassed as well. Or perhaps there was a different way to address a male than there was to female when asking her her name? Either way, it was a... Human mistake. Well, he supposed that was... Human nature after all. To make mistakes. "I'm Jayr,"He shook her hand once again. A confused look came across his face. Were human customs so redundant? That thought flashed by only once until he realized that he had a name. He got her name. That meant something. Now she would be recognized as... Jayr, now she can stand out from the normal crowd of people in his mind. Thinking back on that he supposed she would already have stood out from the rest of the people. "And this is Jess."At this, "Adam" looked at the injured lady... Jess whom had obtained a stronger life force, and looked a tad bit flustered it seemed. A large stream of words came out of her mouth rather hastily and speedily, and "Adam" couldn't comprehend what she was saying, so he cocked his head to the side. She looked rather like a turtle on it's back. He chuckled at the thought. It seemed that Jayr, however, was not as amused by her outbursts, and slowly turned inward so as to block "Adam"s view of her. "Do you normally greet people like this Adam?""Adam" looked at her questioningly. How to answer this question. From what she said, he picked up on the word... Normal... Perhaps she noticed that he wasn't a... Normal Civilian... He supposed she was trustworthy enough to know fully about him. He reached into his pocket, and pulled out his Identification Card. He offered it to Jayr. However, he realized the impact that this could have on how they might act around him. A melancholic smile appeared on his face. Name:Test subject #1, Goes by the name of "Adam" Age:Unknown. Late teens Height:5'10" Weight:125lbs Blood Type:Bombay Gender: Male Eye Color: Black Hair: Black Extenuating Circumstance: Diplomatic Immunity Granted Other information: Found on an island off the coast of Africa on May 25th 2010. Deemed completely untouched by society until discovered. Under jurisdiction of a government psychological institution. [/center] He then looked at Jess with, the idea of a turtle still in his mind, an amused look on his face. His eyes, however, were in another dimension of themselves. A strong feeling of homesickness welled up inside him. He liked being here, but knew this wasn't the place for him to be. And understood that he just placed some of his burden upon them. "Feel... Better?"After asking this question, more of hopeful thinking on his part, he would gesture towards the Identification Card if Jayr did indeed take the card in the first place. He would then begin to slowly walk towards the door, and if left to leave, he would open the door and get back on all fours and wander his way back to his new "Home"... {{{OOC: This is probably the most you or "Adam" could probably get from this meeting methinks unless you have any ideas. So this would be the end of his visit, leaving it open to anyone else who felt they wanted to hop in, or if you would like, I could bring my NPC in shortly after "Adam" leaves.}}}
