I haven't role played for quite some time, and I've never done a stat based board before so this is all new to me. I've been on a couple other XIN boards that are gone now, so I know how things work, but I've always stayed away from the more complicated things like stats and Qi. More of a story guy myself . I guess I was just wondering if you have to have stats and a Qi, or can someone just role play without them. Oh, and my name's Daniel, but you guys can call me Dan. Looking for a new place to dig my roots into and hopefully get back to writing like I used to. Might be slow and slightly inactive, but I'll try my best to become an active member of this community .

Hello and welcome!
And no you do not particulerly have to have stats or a Qi if your in it just for the story value, you prolly wont end up fighting too much.
I hope you have fun!

First off Hello!
Id suggest you give the stats and Qi a try. Stats are really just a guideline and not absolute law, though if you do become a fight guy you can always request that it be done statless id you prefer that style. With that being said its still not a bad idea to give stats and qi a try, maybe youll end up liking it.

Thanks for the welcome, and I apologize that I am not a girl lol. I might give stats and stuff a try, but I know for sure that I won't incorporate them into regular role playing. The only things that got me confused were the mental stats, but I think I get it now. Just because you have a lower intelligence or charisma stat than someone else doesn't mean that you are not as smart or personable outside of fights. If I'm wrong in thinking this let me know and I won't do stats at all . Sorry for the questions and stuuf, just wanna make sure I understand everything.

*points at my own stats* You don't need 'em you just have to let people know you don't... or do what I did for the longest time... have stats and just don't fight... and hey... you should try a qi out 'cause they can help in storyline... a lot actually.
BUT
Welcome to the board.

I really hope you enjoy your experience at 259. Don’t worry too much about what other’s say. Take that piece of advice and you’ll be fine.

I made you waffles. Eat them.

I'm sure I'll enjoy role playing on this board, and hopefully I can get to write with all of you guys once I get the time to finally get my bio going and start writing. Just started my first year of college and so I've got homework and all that fun stuff to keep up with, but I'll start getting things going soon enough. And no offense Kiyoshi but I'm not a big fan of waffles. Now if you want to bring me some pancakes and bacon I'll gladly be forced to eat those lol!

Yea not all too original considering I took a name from a book and just spliced it =p And just finished reading over the whole conversation but yeah Stats don't exactly have to be incorporated outside of a fight unless you want to I know some people do and thats definitely a useful idea to keep in mind as a character develops and grows. As far as measurements I personally keep them vague. As far as I've been led to believe 1 stat is about average person's skill level whereas 5 is above average and yet some people play it off as drastically lower. Like Mikey plays his 5 Int character as a mentally retarded guy and I play my 1 Dex as like being held back by a weight. Its very general how you display it and most people are agreeable towards interpretations so long as you keep an open mind.
