Mental Information
Personality:
Zeke's personality is likely the most complex thing about him. Where some people are serious, others are studious, and still others are carefree, he is almost entirely random. Before a test he can easily pass, he could be entirely stressed over it. In a social meeting, he could be unjustifiably pissed or surprisingly cheerful. His unusual, and often awkward, moods are a result of his emotional sensitivity combined with his logical senses. They often contradict each other, and both influences tend to interfere and cause chaos on an otherwise stable individual. But none of his random emotions are to an extreme, and ultimately, Zeke has complete control over his actions, even if his emotions scream at him to do otherwise.
Mentality:
While his emotions and logic clash constantly, Zeke is an alert and calculated person. While the insane would be without clear logic and reason, he is perhaps too deep into logic and reason, pushing emotion back through tempered mental willpower. Those that are so familiar with his emotional state as to know he's holding back could believe that he's on the verge of snapping into full-blown insanity. Others might think his emotions are on the path to complete denial, and only the hard logic will remain. But only he knows himself that deeply, and he knows that he's fully in control of who he is.
Ideal: There's a solution to every problem. Then there's a hundred more you haven't thought of.
Belief: There is nothing in this world that is infallible, save one thing. And it isn't God. It's math. It doesn't mean that there isn't something more out there, but it never hurts to keep your mind wide open.
Physical Information
Build:
Zeke is certainly lanky. He has however been working on his body for a few years now, and while most don't know it, he's quite well toned. His emphasis on repetitive training means he's faster than he is strong. So while he's not the weakest geek in the chess club, he may just look like it. He does not have any scars, though it's not uncommon to see a small smattering of bruises on his body at any given time. Accidents happen, and he's not super-tough.
Defining Marks:
Zeke has a tattoo in binary on his right shoulder. It's a simple eight-by-eight block of green numbers in a retro computer font. When spelled out, they read "Gameover" from top to bottom. Despite having it, only he knows it's there. Him, and the artist he got to do the work sans-paperwork.
Description:
When one looks at Zeke, they're bound to think minimally about his physical ability. They see his wraith-like thinness even through the baggy clothing he prefers to wear. With a slight lazy hunch in his posture, most think he's taller than he really is, up until he gets close. Then he's a mere wisp in their eyes. Between his bright hair, and ever-changing colored contacts, his skin pales in comparison, and is in fact quite easily distinguishable as Caucasian. But it's also not so much his body that sets him apart from the average notable person, so much as his often unusual clothing style. His fashion sense can easily be considered "out of season" in one way or another, especially since he has a tendency to wear scarves even in the middle of summer. But he makes a decent percentage of his own clothing, and is sometimes seen wearing pieces of cosplay costumes as casually as if his style wasn't unusual at all. He also wears glasses, mainly due to his nearsightedness. But he hasn't shied away from contacts. He just would rather wear glasses because he thinks he looks better in them. That, and colored contacts are expensive enough without trying to find a way to make them prescription quality.
Apparel Information
Head Gear: Most often DJ-style headphones, as behind the ear models interfere with his glasses.
Shirts: Usually custom designs, using two or three colors in simple but unusual patterns.
Pants: The only real requirement is excess amounts of pockets and a baggy feel.
Shoes: Sneakers, black. They go with almost everything, don't look as dirty as they might get, and Zeke doesn't know the first thing about making shoes.
Misc: Glasses, a variety of scarves, and sometimes gloves if the weather is nippy enough.
Fighting Information
Fighting Style: Proximity-Zero Brawling
Years Practiced: 2 Years, and 1 Year of Okinawan Karate
Description of style:
Zeke's style is based off of Okinawan-style karate, which emphasizes quick strikes, defensive fighting, anti-grapple techniques, and anti-weapon defense. Like most forms of Karate taught in the US, it's primary function is as a defense form, so approach techniques and sheer power are sidelined for keeping distance and countering the assailant's moves. Attacks are often done using low kicks and closed fists.
In sparring, and in his time at another public high school, Zeke learned that his own style was conflicting with his natural tendencies during combat. That, and he was getting his ass handed to him. So he quit and modified his combat style using his own intuition and by studying multiple martial arts. Most people fight near the maximum range of their sphere of threat. Grapplers get around that by getting in so close that the optimum range of attack for the brawler is compromised, weakening their attacks while a submission hold is applied. Zeke, having found an affinity for using knee and elbow strikes, worked on unleashing as much power as possible in a short range close to his body. He aims to make up for his weak physical strength by driving more of his body mass, and delivering it quicker, into his opponent. Elbows and knees tend to drive the rest of the body into the attack, increasing the mass being thrust forward on the point of impact. It's weakness is of course the small range of attacks, but once he's inside someone else's sphere of attack, he's well suited to attacking.
History Information
History:
The majority of Zeke’s history deals most directly with his parents. His biological parents, Jeremiah Kraye and Natalie Borman, conceived their first child through a night of lust. They were married a short time after, when arguments and incompatibility began to show themselves. When Emily Kraye was born, they agreed to stay together, just for the child. Another night of less than sober lust wound up producing them their second child, Ezekiel. The arguments only intensified from there. They separated shortly after Zeke was born, with Natalie taking custody of both children and living with her mother and father.
Zeke’s early life involved a lot of schooling. He was tossed into school early, where he failed to develop socially and was almost held back from his inability to interact with others on a meaningful level. With the insistence of his parents, he moved on instead. Through elementary school, he was a noted procrastinator, rarely ever doing homework or sometimes not even doing schoolwork. When asked why he didn’t put forth much effort, he only replied with phrases to the effect of “what does it matter if I do the work when I already know what I need to know?” Of course, this got him put into counseling, to correct his negative outlook towards teachers and authority figures.
When Ezekiel talked with his counselor, he told them that all he wanted was happiness. Like the other kids. He wanted that normal, idyllic family life that everyone else got. Instead, he endured being constantly ushered into his room, as if that would stop him from hearing the arguments. Zeke received teasing for his glasses from his classmates, and despite his efforts, they didn’t care to include him. Granted, his efforts had been half-hearted, and he had been content to just let them continue on with being, in his opinion, jerks.
In his last years of elementary, his mother moved into the rather ramshackle home of Glen Watkins, a gruff and less than nurturing person. While what he did wasn’t really abuse, his negative and often teasing demeanor hurt Zeke, and all he wanted was to go live with his father, just to get away from Glen. To compound upon an already trying time, Zeke’s great grandfather died of old age. Of course, it was not a horrible death, but it was Zeke’s first time dealing with the loss of a loved family member. And he dealt with it by questioning the motives of the very god he’d been raised to revere and maintain faith in.
This marked the beginning of him really pouring himself into his studies. He became no stranger to the library, reading books like they were going to be burned the very next day. He started with different religious information, then broke into more philosophical pieces, eventually breaking into anything that he felt might hold an answer to a question. It went from wondering why god would take away those that were good people, to wondering why so many people had so many different perspectives of the same entity. Questions led to answers, which led into so many more questions. It killed the faith that he had in the religion that he’d been born into, instead leaving him with a skewed deistic philosophy that was uniquely his own.
Finally getting his wish, he separated from his mother’s care, and came to live with his father, who’d taken up a much younger woman, Mary Sutton as a long-term girlfriend. The move took him away from his former school and placed him in a new area, just in time for high school. He figured it’d be a good time to make a new start for himself, using his new found outlooks and mental strength to do well and gain friends. By no means had he expected to be the toast of the school, but he figured he’d find his niche among the social groups.
He did find his place among the more traditionally intelligent groups of the school, falling in with the gaming club, though not the chess team. Zeke was put into advanced classes after his first year, proving his worth as an intellectual instead of as a slacker like he had in earlier days. And even through a fit of stuttering and awkwardness, he managed to charm an art student into becoming his girlfriend. Happiness was shared all around until another student decided that Zeke wasn’t worthy of dating her. In an act Zeke later realized was not much removed from that of a bodybuilding beach bum kicking sand in his face, the person had managed to kick Zeke’s ass and steal his girl with a few well-phrased lies and twisted statements.
Of course, anger got to him, and Zeke almost blindly started to work out and got his father to enroll him in karate classes. He wanted to be stronger and pay the guy back for what he’d done. The rematch a month later was premature, and Zeke found himself in the infirmary for the second time that semester. When his father told him that he was smarter than to get into fights at school, it triggered a fit of inspiration. Violence ran the school, and people that were strong ruled. Zeke, being so far behind already in the arms race, decided he’d have to use more subtle means to get vengeance. A decent amount of time in photoshop later gave him the fuel to try his first hand at his subtle war. It was just a picture of his assailant getting fresh with a linebacker’s girlfriend. Bait taken, the linebacker broke the offender’s nose the very same day.
A series of test manipulations through rumors, photoshop manipulations, and subtle hints got him noticed by the student dean. The dean gave him a chance to become part of the school’s editorial team, so that he could sow machinations in favor of keeping the school in check. Granted such an opportunity, he couldn’t help but take it. So instead of spreading lies, he began creating situations, instigating fights, and manipulating the outcomes to weave a drama for the students to follow. The fighting culminated in a mass brawl among the stronger students and gangs, which a school evaluation crew witnessed during a “surprise” inspection. Zeke had feigned sickness that day to skip school.
Zeke’s father was granted a new title and a transfer in his company, planting Zeke in California.
