Feros sat down in the cafeteria, taking out one of his prized possessions. The African Idol in its small glass case stared back at him, as he put it down on the table. Nothing better than a moment of reflection.
"Hey! Are you Feros? We heard you've got a really creepy idol... Is that it?"
Feros nodded to the three students that sat down on the other side of the table. One thing was fore sure, the Idol was UGLY, and the look of the students' faces indicated they thought so as well. Feros grinned, as his finger slid down the glass. "Wanna hear the full story? It's a long one."
The students all nodded, as Feros explained. "You see, my father is the CEO of a company that specializes in information. His closest competitor's CEO got arrested for murder, and then my dad bought them out. Anyway, through that, I discovered the origin of this idol. This idol was found aboard a ship off the coast of Africa. The ship was completely deserted, much to the surprise of those who found it. The idol was taken by one Roderick Defoe, who took it back to England. Years later, after he built a huge manor for his wife... He and his son disappeared. His wife died in childbirth, of course... Then, a few years ago, the last heir of the Defoe line died mysteriously. It seemed to be a suicide, but after that, a few people were trapped inside that manor. 5 people. Only 3 of them escaped alive. The manor was somehow burnt down, just as they escaped."
The students were very eager to hear more. Feros cleared his throat. "The only survivors... No, I don't need to go there. The accounts stated that there was a wraith. The idol in the manor would possess anyone who touched it, and make them go on a murder spree. It survived the fire, and passed into the hands of treasure hunters, then went along the antique network, until it was recovered by the Ministry of Occultism. However, it was stolen somehow, and brought to his city, where I found it, in the hands of a thief whom had apparently been possessed by the idol, and he had slaughtered his companions. He gave it to me, and disappeared into the night. Touch the case..."
Each of the students reached out, touching the glass case curiously. "If you touch it... You might see a man in a welding mask and an apron, wielding a blood-soaked machete... Maybe even a faceless man with a bladed palm-tree like weapon..."
The students' faces lit up with fear, as they saw figures of that exact description appear right behind Feros. Someone walked by, and the two figures suddenly pulled him over, and started brutally killing him with their weapons. A second later, both figures were gone, and the stranger who seemed to have been killed simply walked on as if nothing had happened. It had been an illusion, but it was enough to make the trio run away in terror.
Feros laughed. It wasn't often that he would see BOTH of those figures. It wouldn't be long before the trio would spread MORE rumors about the idol. The more people to scare, the better, anyway.
