The Past
Chapter 1
The 'Prince'
Kyoya Deramoto was born to one of the mightiest families in Japan. His father was one of the 'top dogs' of the Yakuza. Of course, this meant that the boy was important since his birth and received excellent care from just about everyone and was trained in the ways of combat since he could walk. His father, being as important as he was, wanted to ensure that no harm would ever befall his child. In securing his safety, however, he created quite a monster.
The training he'd went through was always harsh, but after several years of repetition, it had become second nature to the boy. Six days out of the week would be spent practicing shooting, swordplay, martial arts, stealth; he was becoming the perfect killing machine, as was to be expected of one of the Yakuza. Other than the physical training, he experienced training of the mind as well. He was taught not to show fear, and not to trust without perfect reason. And to further his usefulness in covert assassinations, he was taught to speak with different dialects, as well as ten different languages.
Deramoto always fancied knives; they were his favorite tool to kill with. For him, it was amazing because you could be up close and feel the pain the other person was going through. This amazed him so much that it pushed him to perfect the art of the knife, and so he hand crafted his own, personal set of thirty, each with thin holes drilled into the handles with very strong, clear string fastened in to each of them. He took things to the next level, and practiced long range knife fighting as well as traps. The knives would be thrown and positioned so that they created proximity 'mines' of sorts, whenever one were to move the strings. He'd been sent on several hits by the time he was fourteen because he'd possessed exceptional prowess, and he'd always perform the traditional '100 cuts.' This furthered the creation of the beast within him, this truly awakened his lust for blood.
The day before his sixteenth birthday, he'd decided that he was superior to everyone; his friends, family, servants. He decided that on this day, he was going to make sure that everyone knew that Kyoya Deramoto was one of the greatest assets to the Yakuza. However, he did this in the least rational way possible.. He decided he'd create a bloodbath. At daybreak, he woke from his bed and took his personal set of knives and slaughtered all of the less important people to the organization in the beds, and alerted all of those who were truly assets to the Yakuza so he could enjoy the fight with them.
In the main hall of his mansion, the floor was coated in a thin layer of blood. At the center stood Deramoto, covered in the crimson himself, grinning menacingly as some twenty men approached. What they were unaware of, was that they were waltzing into a trap he'd set, just to test them. When the first man was within fifteen feet of Deramoto, his leg had pulled upon a string and set it off. Twenty five knives came flying in, catching about twelve of the men off guard. They all perished then and there. The other eight were more lucky.
A fight between the eight and Deramoto quickly ensued, and no one could get a real hit in on anyone. He played smart, so as to ensure that he didn't suffer from any fatal wounds. This stalemate went on for about thirty minutes, no one being able to really harm the other. It ended when the boys father came onto the scene, armed with a tranquilizer pistol. He aimed, and shot at the back of the boys neck.
Now, one would assume that, given what had occurred, that the boy would be killed. The father, however, couldn't kill his son, no matter how he tried. Instead, he'd sent him to the United States with nothing but a fresh set of clothes and one hundred american dollars. The boy would no longer see Japan again, on fear of death.
Chapter 2
New York City
Once he'd been successfully sent to the U.S., Deramoto took up the Alias of 'Bel,' and quickly made a name for himself as a hitman known only as 'The Ripper.' Being the young man he was, he decided that he would attend the high school that seemed to be all the rage; everyone was talking about the misfits that had crawled out of it. He went to #552 to see if there was anyone really worth a challenge.
At this school, he'd encountered fighters of incredible proportions. Men who could take on an incoming semi, even. These people were nothing like the Yakuza, they were far worse. They were relentless.. Bel's kind of crowd. He'd quickly fit in and found what it was he was looking for and instantly took a liking to the place. The first person he really truly met was Orion Smith, a strange boy who, after a few months, took on the strange ability to glow. The two inevitably developed a sense of rivalry and had fought each other countless times. It was the main thing that kept Bel from killing too many people.
The two did some odd things together, like disposing of the lesser of the town's gangs and inciting riots whenever they could. They were almost brothers in arms, up until Bel's disappearance. He was called in for a hit on a really important fella.. He was one of the heads of the Yakuza and a lot of people wanted him dead. So Bel went in for the hit and, instead, encountered the guy's son. The two went through a real scuffle, and in the end, Bel came out on top. As he was about to kill the kid, though, the mother appeared and pleaded for his life. Things happened that really turned his life around the way he wasn't expecting. He needed to leave this place, because the people did nothing but further his blood lust. He decided he just couldn't do it anymore.
