Leta walked with her roommate, Eve, to the school. Being blind, Leta couldn't do this on her own. She had been memorizing the turns and number of steps the whole way, so she could seem less helpless and let Eve get on with her life. The school was apparently not that far from the house, because it had only been 1,763 steps and three turns to get to the school. She grimaced at the number. Eve stopped her at the front gates of school and announced that we had arrived. Leta lifted her head to better listen to what it sounded like. She could hear some people laughing off to the right, and somebody was playing the guitar to the left. People were walking on cement ahead of her. She cleared some hair from her face and exposed her ivory-white eyes to anyone looking in her direction. She took a deep breath and advanced forward into the gates of her new school.

OOC: I'm a slow poster, so if anyone else joins, s'probably better to treat this as a just a one-shot post into your thread (seriously, anyone else feel free!). Otherwise... =DAnd Into...--- On the opposite side of the gate was someone rushing out with a girl with long, black hair."Ya, I know, right? And then---"...And said fellow happened to crash into the said blind girl. But he was so flimsy, that he fell backwards onto his ass, his accompanying lady friend let a small, shrill yelp of surprise, her hands clasping to her mouth as she sidestepped out of the way before she could collect herself."---OOF!"
"...Like... owwwwwww... ;_;" His mouth jaunted open as he stuck out his tattooed tongue out involuntarily."'Green'! You need to watch yourself---Oh, I'm so sorry!" the girl would say as she rushed over to the two girls, a very concerned look on her face versus the shot of irritation she threw at "Green."
"Green" was a young boy with long, lanky body with girl jeans, a modified aviator jacket, and a white t-shirt. He had spiky gray-brown hair, and almost unnaturally green eyes. Watering eyes that continued to cringe as his face blanched from its pale white into a pained red about his cheeks. His hands were busy massaging his derriere as he hunched himself forward, trying to bring himself into a standing position."Oh, c'mon, Marina... don't be meaaaaaannnn."Marina, however, was too busy to pay "Green" any mind, as, if the victimized girl had been knocked over, she would be busy trying to help her up. If she was just a bit shocked, she'd be patting down the poor girl. She was a rather tall girl of six foot, with hazel eyes and brown hair. She wore a set fatigue shirt, pants, and gloves of khaki, brown, and dark brown, wearing a light pair of steel-toed boots. Her demeanor, however, was far from militaristic. She wore a concerned look on her face as "Green" would finally walk up beside her to give an apologetic nod."...Oh... oh. I'm so sorry about that."Provided she was done helping the girl and/or her roommate out, Marina would shoot one last glare at "Green" and nod outside of the school in a 'come on' sort of manner before turning back to the two girls."Please have a nice day," she would say with an accompaningly apologetic bow, before dragging "Green" off with one hand, chasticing him an undertone.
Those two would walk off away from the school unless checked/stopped.

Throughout the whole encounter, Leta remained still and quiet. She let Eve talk to the girl they've come to know as Marina. She sounded nice. She was very apologetic for her friend's idiocy. Eve proceeded to say that it was her fault, she wasn't paying attention, Leta was blind... Yadda yadda... It irritated Leta the way she talked about it. Leta brushed off her loose grey shirt and sighed, "Wow. First day, and people are already pushing. Wonderful." Eve touched her shoulder sympathetically. "Leta, they don't understand. Nobody here knows about your past. I hope he's okay. He fell pretty hard." Leta grimaced.
Eve turned around and watched the pair rushing away. Leta listened intently, to her surroundings. The guitar had continued to play, and the people to her right had continued to converse and laugh. She could hear the wind in the grass and felt the breeze on her face. She felt refreshed, and ready to move forward.
"Eve, this time, try to direct me away from oncoming traffic."
Eve smiled. "I'll do my best."
Leta had already begun laughing at the start of this day. It was certainly memorable.

Samantha had been listening to the guitarist, he played a jaunty tune she didn't recognize. it was too bad, she wanted to sing, but it wasn't the sort of song for singing. the guitarist had a relaxed attitude it was a nice mellow style. some commotion started, Samantha was ever alert for commotion, around here it usually led to trouble. she watched on, no one fought, no one really had any issue whatsoever. it was a curious thing. she must be new here. those other kids must be new here. but there were always exceptions to rules.
She waved goodbye to the guitarist, who gave a friendly nod and walked over to the girl and her friend. she realized she had no idea what to say, so she said what she was thinking.
"Hi, are you new here?" she asked, it was somewhat aimed at both of the girls, but really the ivory eyes where what caught Samantha's emerald gaze.

Leta listened to the footsteps come closer and she turned her head to the approaching girl. She steadily braced herself for another impact, but there was none. She simply asked a question. That was harmless enough.
"Hi, are you new here?"
Leta aimed her eyes at where she would imagine this girl's face was, and answered with a simple "Yes." Leta was a tragically shy girl when first met, but she was never impolite. She would never ignore an opportunity to meet someone new.
Eve looked at Leta, then back at the girl to provide her own answer. "Yes, we just transferred here. My name is Eve, and this is Leta." She gestured to the both of them.
Leta had been absentmindedly listening to this exchange of words, but she hardly broke her "gaze" from the girl.

As Sebastian had been walking around aimlessly for a few minutes he started to look for something to do. He noticed a small group of girls next to a guitar player. Two of the girls were talking while one girl just stared at a space about five inches over one of the girls left shoulder. He walked up to the group and stopped a few feet away. He only caught the last part of the conversation about how they are recent transfers. "Oh you guys are new here too? Good! My name is Sebastian." Immediately after saying this with a smile he jutted his hand into the center off the still closed of circle to see who would shake it.

She listened politely, gazing into the ivory eyes. she smiled, it was interesting if nothing else, a long time ago it might have spooked her a bit, but there was no reason to be afraid, she was just a normal girl. she listened to their names, two transfers, she looked to eve, she could see, and was a caretaker. interesting. one cannot but observe these things.
suddenly a young man approached, full of energy and spunk he simply announced that he was glad everyone here was new, and shook out his hand to shake. Sebastion. wasn't that the name of ariel's crab? not that it really mattered.
"Nice to meet you, Leta, Eve"
"I'm samantha" she would say shaking the boys hand, good to meet you too, lots of new people recently, its so nice" she said with a smile "as long as you don't run into the wrong kind of people..." she added, more to herself, but it would be easily heard.
"so where did you all transfer from?" she asked her bright emerald gaze looking to each of them, resting on leta's sightless gaze for a moment, so interesting. she snapped out of it and looked back to eve and sebastian with a smile

Leta stiffened a bit as she heard a new set of footsteps clunking toward them. Her eyes widened the slightest bit as she heard the energetic voice of a young man.
"Oh you guys are new here too? Good! My name is Sebastian."
Leta stayed quiet, but transferred her "gaze" to the boy. She had nothing to say, really. She knew Eve would take care of the words. All these new people caught her off guard a bit. She had forgotten that meeting new people was almost a requirement in public schools.
The girl introduced herself as Samantha. She liked this girl. She was friendly, and her voice was warm. She made a comment about 'meeting the wrong people' and this caught her attention. She then asked where they all transferred from.
Sebastian was adamant to give his answer first. Next, Eve replied, "I moved here from Ohio, and Leta transferred from Massachusetts." Leta turned back to the girl and added, "This is my first public school experience. Before, I was home-schooled." She spoke quietly, almost as if she were trying not to speak out of turn. She tried to "see" directly into Samantha's eyes before speaking again, "What do you mean 'the wrong people'?"

Samantha had accepted his hand, large and misshapen as it may be. The observation may not have sunken in or she may have been truly accepting of abnormalities. Either way Sebastian decided to stand next to her. He let his arms hang at his knees. Samantha asked a question. "so where did you all transfer from?" But that wasn't quite right. "Oh I am from here. I am just new to the school, haha" After saying that sebastian became distracted. Eve was talking but nobody seemed to care and all eyes were locked onto Leta's. They seemed almost electric. Then Leta spoke and Sebastian snapped out of it. She explained her situation then pointed out something that samantha had said which slipped by Sebastian the first time. His interest was again sparked.

Samantha smiled, nice talkative people. Ohio, massachusetts, and a local who had yet to appear at the school. not too bad, she herself having transfered from newport beach she suddenly felt more like a local herself. eve had answered the question, though leta was not slow to add her own thoughts to the answer. Samantha imagined their relationship was deep and well adjusted, the two seemed like such a nice pair.
"i've heard a lot about homeschooling, I bet you're quite knowledgable" samantha complimented leta, she had never seen it in action but there was always the small stereotype that homeschooled kids where brainiacs. there was also a stereotype that they where socially inept, but this girl didn't seem to have any crippling social incapacities. you can't trust everything you hear. "That's incredible though, I've never lived or even been outside of california, I hope you like it here" she continued, she figured that if someone was going to judge california or its people there better be a good first impression, and who better for the job? probably a lot of people, but samantha was the one standing there so she tried her best.
Leta gazed at samantha, there was that feeling that she could indeed see her in one way or another. again, it didn't spook her though, this girl presented nothing but goodwill. she had paid attention to what samantha had said or at least the part that samantha had said about running into the wrong people. sebastian was now looking at her as well, expecting an answer to the same question she guessed. Samantha's gaze trailed to each of the three people in front of her, taking a moment to put into words what her short comment had meant.
"the public school system... well, in my opinion anyway, is flawed. corporal punishment was re-instuted some years ago, and the violence spread to the student level. now campus free-for-alls are far from uncommon, and fighting is the best way to settle any dispute. I'm not a fan of the tactics myself. I like to entertain the thought that while sometimes fighting is inescapable, most problems can be solved peacefully, with a victory that is beneficial for everyone" she had nearly quoted sun tzu at the end there. total victory, taking victory whole, by seeing the big picture you save lives, time, resources, everything that is wasted in war can be saved.
she realized by the end that she was begining to sound preachy and speechy and so decided to cut herself off before the cheese ball kept rolling. "I wouldn't worry about it too much though, as long as you keep your eyes open for it, it is easy to avoid" she explained easily with a smiled. she looked at sebastian. the other two it would be easy to say where probably not incredibly interested in fights (though it didn't escape her that she could be wrong), sebastian on the other hand, she wasn't as certain if he wanted to avoid fights or not, not yet.

Leta listened to everything Samantha had to say. She was a very friendly person who clearly made it a point to make an excellent first impression of not only herself, but of the school and this new state. She listened more to the tone of her voice, the pace of her breathing, and the occasional adjustment of her feet, than the actual words. Though she didn't ignore them. She explained that the public school system was, essentially, just an accommodation for chaos. This troubled Leta the slightest bit. She wasn't one to go looking for a fight, let alone physical contact. However, she would not hesitate to put someone in their proper place before walking away. She may have been blind, but she had other ways of seeing the world than through her eyes, and in some cases this proved to be very useful.
Samantha then told us not to worry about any of this too much, though. As long as we 'kept our eyes open'. Leta snickered at this statement quietly.
Eve asked Leta if she was okay to be on her own for a while because she wanted to explore the campus a bit. She told her she was fine, and that Eve could go do what she wanted. Leta would manage just fine without her.

Sebastian let the information about the fighting in the school wash over him. The roughness of this school was not a new concept to him, he had seen it for himself from his own window as the violence would tend to spill out into the surrounding area of the school. It was nice to hear a bit of history though as he had no real knowledge of why it was this way. Samantha spoke of how she thought the diplomatic approach was the best one. He knew he wouldn't throw a punch first in any situation but he would tell a guy off for being a bully. He watched as the guitarist got disgruntled at the lack of attention given to him by his surrounding peers. Sebastian noted that eve perked up and had to leave in an awful hurry when this happened. This did not bother him at all as he had found them both a little boring. After a slight pause sebastian decided it was his turn to ask a question. "Well what about you? How long have you been here?" After a short pause he added "Do you have a Qi?" Immediately after saying it he regretted it. He had no idea whether that was a personal thing or how many conventions he just broke and he was scared.

after Samantha had given her speech she watched for responses, no one seemed too concerned, it was a warning that had been well delivered, realistically it didn't warrant a response. eve asked to be excused. curious, she asked to leave, she was definitely the caretaker, but leta didn't really seem to need the caretaker as she was absolutely comfortable letting eve wander off on her own. with her went the music, which was actually too bad, she had been quite enjoying the atmosphere, music tied any situation together nicely. she wished silently that she could play an instrument and considered calling the boy back and introducing herself, but sebastian began to say something, the moment was incorrect, she let it go.
"Well what about you? How long have you been here?" so now it was their turn to learn about her, samantha did love meeting people. still sebastian hadn't said anything that pointed him toward or against fighting. "Do you have a Qi?" he suddenly added, it seemed a little out of the blue, but it gave her some form of answer. anyone who knew about QI, and its uses most likely had at least seen someone use it in a fight. Samantha wasn't sure how to answer this, Qi was something she had observed at her old school but had never used herself, she wasn't certain if she had one, and she was less certain if it was a good idea to give that information out freely. still sebastian seemed like a nice boy, and leta was someone who samantha was easily growing fond of. to create bonds of trust it had to be known that both sides trusted each other.
"here" she said, pointing to the ground, indicating the school "I'm relatively new actually, this is my fourth day, just transfered from my old public school in newport beach" she said cheerily "As for QI, if i do have one I don't know about it, but I've never really fought anyone in my life so it may have not had a chance to manifest itself yet... I suppose I'd like to keep it that way, but something tells me that will be easier said than done" she said with a little laugh. these two had no idea that she was apart of a group being gathered to end the violence once and for all at the school. of course to do so will take some necessary violence itself, samantha volunteered to try to keep that amount to a minimum. she was a strategist by nature.
"do either of you have Qi?" she asked, she didn't want leta to be left out of the conversation

Leta listened as Eve hurried off. The music had also stopped, and she heard "guitar man" hurry after her toward the school. She wondered what they were up to. Sebastian asked Samantha some questions, one regarding Qi. Leta had heard about that, though she didn't quite know what it was. From Samantha's explanation, she gathered that it was to be used in fights. She laughed at the end of her explanation. Leta was an expert at listening to people's emotions through speech and breathing patterns, and she could tell that Samantha was hiding something. How big of a secret it was, she had no idea. But Leta didn't blame her for having secrets. Hell, Leta had plenty of her own.
"Do either of you have a Qi?" she asked.
Leta thought for a few seconds before answering, "I'm not sure. I'm still not entirely sure what it is, exactly," She paused, then added, "But all the same, I'm sure I could get along just fine without one." She smirked, curling her lips at the ends. "Sight is a privilege, not necessarily and advantage."

Do either of you have a Qi? Sebastian didn't want to see to eager to respond to that question so he relaxed a bit and took a new stance with one foot five inches behind the other. Leta took this question first. "I'm not sure. I'm still not entirely sure what it is, exactly," Sebastian was confused, did she mean she didn't know what her own Qi was? or did she mean what a Qi is in general? "But all the same, I'm sure I could get along just fine without one." Sebastian noticed a small smile becase he was having trouble focusing on the actual conversation. 'she seems almost eager to fight' Thought Sebastian. Then she followed it up with "Sight is a privilege, not necessarily and advantage." She was definitely willing to test out what she could do, maybe this aggression had to do with whatever made her eyes so white. The question had been directed at both of them. It was his turn, "I don't know if I have one but I hope so. I don't really know how to fight and I feel defenseless at this school." It wasn't a lie and he was hoping to get some sort of defenses as soon as possible.
