“Oh Holy Father today we pray for your blessing. We come before you a humble following of sinners, yet my flock need not be punished for their crimes, for they were forced to become the twisted beings they now suffer as. In my trek through hell you taught me this, and hence be why you deemed me your left hand, Your Angel of Retribution. So Holy Father this humble church on the hill, asks that you cleanse them of their guilt and sickness of heart. Bestow upon them the right of Vengeance. We are your wrath my lord. We are your faithful hounds. We shall be the punishment delivered to those who force sin upon the innocent. Thank you for your strength my lord. AMEN.”
As Reverend Teyfour finished the opening prayer for his congregation he raised his gauntlet clad hands to the sky and a mighty response of amen erupted from the audience. The pews were packed, a few dozen experiments had made this weekly service delivered by Reverend Teyfour a central part of their lives. These people had been warped physically and mentally by the sick will of a man named Sean Barker, and Teyfour gave them hope, he told them it was not their fault for the monsters many of them had become. He taught them not to hate the world or each other, but that one responsible for their creation was to blame and would suffer for his sins, the Holy Father spoke to him and told him such.
Why would powerful monsters heed his words….. Because he was one of them.
Lowering his outstretched arms and returning to his congregation he smiled. The ice white hair of an experiment sprouted from his head signifying his nature, and the nature of his family of followers. It was his god given duty to make people who would force sin upon innocents suffer. Suffer till they would pray for hell as a release from pain. He knew he must do this for those like himself…. Like his church…… They were once ordinary people, innocent people, but Sean Barker forced them in to monsters. Beasts that they themselves couldn’t control.
Waving his clawed hand lovingly towards his followers, he spoke. His voice was deep and smooth, yet held a powerful presence in the room, like that of a lone wolf howling at the night’s moon.
“Family, We are gathered here in a shared pain, a shared fear. We have all asked why, why did we get chosen, why are we what we have become. I say why does not matter, we cannot change the past, yet we can atone for our sins, we can rise above our curses, and our Father will turn them into blessings. Our sin was forced upon us by a sick and twisted creator. A sick soul, and for his crimes The Holy Father has risen me, his revered son. I promise I shall lead us to salvation, and in our spiritual pilgrimage we shall punish the truly evil. Those like our creator, those who force sin onto others. They shall fear us as one fears the dark, forever there and a force of nature. So rise and pray for the strength to control yourselves, and to strive for the right to fight for salvation. Let Father know you are grateful for his forgiving heart.”
Calming down and Smiling Teyfour moved onto lighter subject matter
“Now we of the church are available for the rest of the day, Sister Evis will be collecting alms for the medical needs of ill and wounded due to the missiles, remember to pray for them. Oh and Brother Eyevann will be there for those who need to confess, and Brother Pills will be running the Addicts Anonymous talks today. So you may rise and enjoy the day if you need anything fear not asking, and remember spread the words of our Church of the Revered.”
Finishing his closing remarks Reverend Teyfour walked to his throne made of twisted steel. Positioned in front of a massive steal cross covered in chains, this throne was the center of attention for any who would enter the church. Yet the church itself was nothing to scoff at, set apart it rested alone on top of a barren scorched hill, and for miles surrounding the church there was nothing but devastation caused by Barker’s missile attack. The church itself was built of solid stone slabs, and had a cold demeanor like that of the gothic period. Its walls had been slightly damaged by the barrage however Reverend Teyfour and the clergy of the Church of the Revered reinforced the walls with plates of steel and iron shaped by Reverend Teyfour’s own strength. This solemn church is located to the west of the main claim of the Experiments, yet its towering spire can be seen for miles.
Calmly approaching Teyfour’s side was Brother Inviji. This calm and collected man was the eyes of the church and Teyfour’s right hand man. He was a fellow experiment blessed with an overwhelming gift. He was able to see far beyond his own being. Often this heightened perception had been too much for him to handle however Teyfour had helped him learn to control his gift and for this he swore to be his eyes.
“Dots….”
Turning to face the man who called him such a personal name, Teyfour reached out a clawed hand and rested it one the man’s shoulder. He felt close with Inviji like a sibling and felt a pride in having such good company.
“Yes my brother”
Having watched every person in and around the Church simultaneously Inviji was moved by how the people found hope in the words of Dots, Dots the Escaped. One of the six taken, a legend of his own regard.
“It is good the hope we give our people”
Knowing to what Inviji referred Reverend Teyfour smiled.
“Yes it is and our word shall spread and soon they won’t just have hope, but we shall deliver them salvation….”
These words echoed though the stone walls of the church with a chilling presence…..
