Emily's ... well... in need of a social life.
Come to think of it, how does one start such a thing when you've got nothing to start with? Well... she DOES have Unfettered and Rem... wait, scratch Rem. He's... been busy womanizing the entire school. God knows what he could've done.
Well, as long as he wasn't doing any monkey business on her house - she'd not bother with his life. Or anyone for the matter.
Maybe that was her problem?
Maybe she cared too less?
... Oh well. Never the less, something had to be done.
She sat on the bench nearest the exit to the school - waiting for her unsuspecting prey.
A Sociological Experiment!
How exciting!

The black earphones hugged his ears and sang the tunes of Adema to him. It was playing through the bridge of "Promises" as Zack trod on towards the school exit, his footsteps making only the slightest of bumps as he moved ahead. His eyes were set forward, not focused on anything. The scenery was merely a blur of angst and the wind around him as he walked was a wake of anger.
*You're not gonna change I know who you really are! Your promises are all played out!*

Mmm... No one seemed interesting. Maybe Emily was just too darn picky to have friends... or anyone to socialize with for the matter. Hnn...
Wait, that sounded like loud music from earphones!
B-I-N-G-O.
Ok. Now how to act?
Serious?
"Hi."
No that would seriously fail. Wait, the guy's getting nearer the gate with every step, NOOOOOO!!
First thing that comes into your mind. OK? GOOD.
Emily skipped over to the boy and stood in front of him, blocking his way. She raised a hand and said, "Hi~!!" in a particularly out of character tone. She was smiling widely with energy - and she was hoping it didn't look too forced.
(HOMG THE FIRST TIME MY CHARACTER SMILED DX)
She paused, placing a finger on her chin and looking up as she thought. "Mmm... no, that's not right... it's too hype-" Emily got lost in her thoughts again before remembering her "subject"
She... sweatdropped, "Eh... heh?" she said, hoping this guy didn't think she was weird just to talk up to him and saying hi, then talking aloud to herself. Emily was feeling like she had SERIOUS issues going on. "H-Hello... again..."

He stopped, expression static and his hand went up to his earphones slide them off his ears. He couldn't decode what this strangely random and spontaneous girl said through his music. Judging by her energy he drew a conclusion that she was either being friendly or she wanted something from him. The black earphones dangled from his neck, music still blaring.
"Your promises! Your promises!"
He reached into his thick and heavy black zip-up hoodie and switched the infernal thing off.
"H-Hello... again..."
"Hi."
The world shifted back in focus in his eyes and he set them on the girl in front of him.

Emily flushed red for a second. Wow, that was embarrassing.
Seriously.
"Uh, Sorry about... uh... being random." She said, "Ano... I'm ... Emily. Sacricia Emily Lourdes Delos Santos... It's a... bit long so I guess Emi should do?"
The girl bowed down, she was trying so hard to sound... happy and cheerful. So she acted like one of those Anime-girl types.
Sad.

That was a long name. He remembered "Emily Santos and stored it in his mind. He also made a special note that she had a five part name. His eye twitched for a brief moment as she bowed.
"Hi Emily. My name is Zachary Chan."
He thought of something else to say but couldn't find anything except for interrogating the causes behind her absolute randomness. He figured that wouldn't leave a nice first impression. He was still waiting for her to ask him for a favour.

Emily didn't bother to stand up straight again, she bowed still. "Sorry for being so random. It's nice to meet you though, Zack." Emily stood, her silky black hair flung back at it's place and she sweatdropped.
"I'm... just... really sorry. I don't have anything to say or ask of you, to be honest. Eh... I was trying to find out how to ... well... 'socialize'..."
She caught the twitch in his eye earlier, and in fact it made her somewhat... uncomfortable.
This was such a bad idea... why did she start in the first place?!
Damn it all.

His eye twitched again. She must be psychic. He was pretty sure he didn't show any signs except for twitching and he couldn't exactly understand that himself. He thought about the prospect of socialization. He was definitely a beginner at that but there wasn't a huge risk in trying. Not this trivial conversation at least. He'll be careful not to give away his address, phone number or any other contact information lest she was a secret agent sent to seduce him into some money grubbing scam.
"Having a circumstance to initiate conversation is normally a precursor to the generation of one."
As the words tumbled out of his mouth he figured it was kind of mean and he definitely did not want to crush her spirits lest she wasn't a secret agent.
"... But normal people aren't any fun to talk to... they're too normal..."
His effort caused him to leak some facial modulation which was limited to his eyes moving while he spoke.

"Having a circumstance to initiate conversation is normally a precursor to the generation of one."
Emily nodded, agreeing with the statement. Though still wondering and paranoid about the intensity of her bad impression. She didn't bother herself at all with wondering if she made a bad impression. She already knew she did.
"... But normal people aren't any fun to talk to... they're too normal..."
That statement made her mouth twitch and her eyes squint. "ARE YOU SAYING THAT I'M NOT NORM-?!" She shouted out, flinging her arms up and down rapidly; almost a blur in fact. She stopped though, blinking a bit before her hands and head fell down in defeat.
"... I guess I'm not."

It wasn't that severe being 'abnormal' was it? He couldn't tell what the norm was and essentially thought everyone wasn't normal. Emily's strong reactions showed that she had a desire to be this normal person.
"... I guess I'm not."
"I can't tell..."
No he couldn't. He just met the girl and he figured he couldn't place a finger on what 'normal' was anyways. The idea of wanting to be normal intrigued him though, he really couldn't see why people desired normalcy so much, if at all.
"Why does being normal matter so much?"
Zack was now genuinely interested in this conversation and usual cold hard stare softened up while he spoke.

"I can't tell..." Emily shrugged, sighing before she straightened up. "I guess we just met so... can't really blame you there..." The other question though, struck a chord...
"Why does being normal matter so much?"
It's sad. Emily found herself looking away, her right arm holding her left elbow. "Well," she started, "It's... just... lonely being different. I guess it's all my fault that I don't put much effort into trying to talk to other people..."
'You're too afraid.' Kari echoed. It was true, she was too afraid. Emily went through too much loss and rejection - it was quite difficult for her to try to attach herself to a person as a friend or anything more.

Zack was alone most of the time. He just didn't feel lonely so he couldn't exactly relate.
"... I guess it's all my fault that I don't put much effort into trying to talk to other people..."
"You're trying hard right now..."
He thought about what that meant and the suggestion actually hurt him. He brushed it aside, negative feelings can easily be fixed for himself.
"... and you're feeling lonely talking to me?"
Zack preferred it that way though. He wasn't much for socializing and so it didn't bother him that he was boring or not outputting the feeling of belonging.

"You're trying hard right now..." she heard from him, and sighed.
The road they were on was now deserted. Most of the students had already made their way out of the school - after all it was dismissal time. Emily couldn't say much really.
"... and you're feeling lonely talking to me?"
Emily paused, and shook her head shortly after. "No... I guess." was her reply. Though not sure, she... had an idea.

"No... I guess."
Key phrase spoken he took another hit. It didn't faze him but it did feel uncomfortable. Lyrics played in his mental ear to emphasize the point.
<I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through...>
Zack then apologized.
"Sorry."

Unlike her, Zack actually had no reason to apologize. Eh, it was rather weird. Emily didn't really know why he was saying sorry. "What ... for?" She asked, her expression shifting from unsure, to confused.
"Unlike me you've got nothing to say sorry for..."
