[[OoC: If you don't want backstory, skip to the last paragraph.]]
"Sir, I have the surveys."
Jeeves stepped into Shugo's study with a stack of papers in his hands. The boy would respond to his butler with an audible, "87, 88, 89," and so forth. Shugo would be on the ground adjacent to his desk doing push ups. The boy would be visibly beginning to have trouble finishing his push ups. Sweat would be gleaming as it dripped from his forehead and constantly contracting and expanding muscles.
"Only 100, Sir?"
Jeeves would smirk as he threw a towel to Shugo. The boy would take it and wipe himself off with a smirk.
"That was my seventh set Jeeves. How are the numbers looking?"
"Well as far as non-perishable food is going, we have less than suspected, but we should be okay until the next supply drop. electrical usage is at an adequate amount as supplied by the solar panels and the generator, water is also at a safe level. The major concern is space, Sir. Rooms are being occupied by anywhere between 4 to 8 people."
"Are you suggesting that we build an extension?"
The boy asked the question with a bit of a smirk as he pulled shirt over himself. He already knew Jeeve's answer.
"I do believe that would be a good idea, Sir. Either that or place people in the imaginary extra rooms you have yet to occupy."
"Was that a joke Jeeves? I can't even remember the last time I heard you joke."
Shugo would walk over to the large map where he had marked what group had taken what territory. Jeeves would also approach the map and the two would silently scrutinize the map. A couple, "Hmm..."'s would escape the men's mouths as the stood there.
"What do you think Jeeves? Which direction should we advance in?"
"Well Sir, if you would be so keen as to notice that you would be encroaching on the Olympian Gods territory if you went North, much like you would meet the Dragons in the West, and Barker in the South. None of whom, might I add, you seem to be on friendly terms with. Or have I been misinformed and should I be calling those Gentlemen and Ladies over for tea and crumpets?"
Shugo would face palm as Jeeves would go off on his rant. He just had to ask for Jeeves' opinion didn't he? Jeeves just loved to rub it in when he thought Shugo had a stupid question. Of course Shugo knew that those directions would be a bad choice, but the boy had simply wanted a second opinion on the matter.
"Alright, alright Jeeves. I won't go in those directions. That leaves only East."
"It does my heart good to see you ave learned the process of elimination, Sir."
"I hate you, Jeeves."
"The feeling is quite mutual, Sir."
Shugo would begin packing his things for his adventure. Before the boy could expand his territory, he would have to scout the neutral territory and make sure it was safe to inhabit. Shugo would pack a flashlight, a few military grade glow sticks, a shovel, a large canister of water, and a pair of escrima sticks. The boy of course brought with him his gauntlets and the steam golem. Putting on his jacket and grabbing his helmet, Shugo would head over to his motorcycle.
"Sir I packed you a lunch."
"Jeeves, this is a brown bag with a can of beans and an apple. There's not even a spoon or a can opener."
"We only have the one can opener, Sir."
Shugo would face palm once more and hand the paple to a child looking at him and give the can back to Jeeves.
"Get these kids a snack and keep the beans Jeeves."
"Very well, come you little miscreants."
The children would cheer and follow after Jeeves, jumping on his back and tugging at his hands as they cheered. Shugo couldn't help but smile as Jeeves walked away with the children and them asking him to play kick ball with them. Jeeves of course reluctantly agreed. Shugo couldn't help but remember how it had been Jeeves to teach him how to ride a bike, or how Jeeves would help Tai build his model rockets in the kitchen.
Pulling his helmet over his smile, Shugo would bring to life the engine of the motorcycle. The boy would at first drive slow, but when the gates shut behind him, Shugo would speed off into the neutral zone. He scoured the area for any sign of life, but as far as the young man could tell there was nothing on the surface. But what did the shadows of the ruin have in store for him that day?
