Not An Issue
Asiv sat at the table once more, drinking his glass of water from the chipped glass, an a near by large male, wearing a similer balistics mask and black uniform as John Ong had been wearing, yet this was deffinitly not the red headed fire Qi user.
There would be a knock on the door to the room. Then another.
The large male would open the door, since... You know Asiv wasn;t going to "Get up" and answer it himself. Hah, wheelchair joke.
Lighter rapping noises would be heard against the door, as fingers staccatoed on it in rising and falling intervals, stopping as the hand smoothed over the door.
From the crack in the opened door, a familiar smile would glisten through.
"Guten tag."
The large male would step to the side opening the door wider, so Mr. Asiv could see who it was.
"Your a little smaller than I remember."
Said the man from behind the mask.
"Leave him be Malice, no need to be mean."
the big guy grunted and silenced himself.
"Come on in Win-... "Unfettered". I've actually been meaning to talk to you."
A quiet chuckle elipsed out of the man's lips but he would say nothing, his thoughts hidden behind the smile and his focused gaze. A blue eye wept into the room, surveying it all quickly, staring knowingly without knowing at the man behind the mask.
There was no harm to be had, but the German would nod appreciatively to Mr. Asiv all the same. At his former Supervisor's bidding, the man strode in, his arms wistfully hugging at his sides, as he made his way across the table. He bent over, sliding a finger onto the table, as though attempting to discover a clue, his eye seemingly completely focused on it.
"Likevise.
Du are doing vell?" he looked up inquiringly.
There was a map of the current known positions of every territory in miles, as well as a golden piece of parchment tacked to the wall obviousely from The Gods, everything else was just as The Crows had given him as a room.
"Oh, pretty well. A good supply of food, water, and bent cigarettes."
Asiv would chuckle, though he looked to the map himself.
"How about yourself? You seem to not have that old temperature problem anymore."
For a moment, the German would freeze, no pun intended. A strange smile spread across the face, perhaps darkly at Mr. Asiv's observant comment. As if expecting the Supervisor to know more. And perhaps he did. Nothing else was betrayed from the German's face, and he let his attention follow after Asiv's.
"Ve survive..." he would practically dismiss.
"Unfettered" would turn his head to Mr. Asiv, his brow raised, his curiosity piqued. His hand gestured to both the golden parchment and the map, both of which were new to the German.
"Du have been busy."
Asiv nodded, he was guessing at this point... But he had his clues now. It wasn't important right now though. He'd keep about business as normal. Until it was time to really talk.
"Its my connection to the outside world. Really its Mr. Ong who has been busy. Finding Mr. Malice, Talking to my brothers, he's been invaluable, and I wouldn't be able to have him out and about if it where not for The Crows. For that you have my thanks."
A courteous smile.
"For zat, ve have ze thanks of Kiyoshi for his original inspiration... and ze late Areon Fury."
Slight grimace. The German walked past Mr. Asiv and beelined slowly for the map, standing away a good three feet from it. His hands collected behind his waist, and he stood in motionlessness.
"Ve should increase Mr. Ong's rations," was the musing comment over the current fishing situation, but the attention was clearly elsewhere. Territories, noted areas of control...
Unfettered would be able to make out all the new and old territories Kiyoshi and company have captured, pin pointed strongholds of each territory, the same for Barker and The Dragons. An area for The Gods, and the apartments and area of influence controlled by the expiraments. Yet in one small area near the ruins of 259 would be an area marked "Off Limits" even by Asiv.
Asiv simply sat reached into his shirt and pulled his pack of cigs out.
"You know Unfettered, if you dont mind me dropping the formality of mister. There is something curious and picking at my mind as of late."
The German's eye did not seem to move, but the attention he gave the map was unmistakable. Certainly, some of it was new to "Unfettered", but it would be impossible to tell from a body language view of exactly what the German did and did not know.
He did not look at his Supervisor. A smile, a strange smile wrapped around his face, hidden from view, beneath the lengths of white hair.
"Then, pick at mine," he offered.
"Leon Sudeki is announced dead by both Dragon Forces, Myself, and Barker forces... Yet the next day electricity in small amounts return to the city and outlying area's..."
If Unfettered cared he'd be able to read the letter from The Gods.
As though by cue, the German side-stepped the map, giving his gaze at even level, to survey, not quite yet answering.
"Yet, its Barker. He is a creature of habit. He needs the recognition of any accomplishment he makes... Esspecially to me. Why not flaunt the fact, or show the body in some flashy fashion?"
"Yes you are right. Poseidon has forgiven your kids for the death of his son. Hades has expressed everything he learned before Barker's assault... We hope to see you soon.
~Zeus"
~Zeus"
The German's body shook suddenly. Trembling.
He turned around to face Mr. Asiv. His arms wrapped about his waist, as though cold. A sinister grin etched itself in what was unmistakable excitement.
"Ich see."
Another realm to explore. Possibilities to define. Uncertainties to make certain.
"Ich. See." he repeated.
"The other thing is Barker's silence... As I said he likes to flaunt his achievements and constantly needs to show his superiority... I suspect he will try something soon. At this moment he will make himself, or someone important under his command... Vulnerable. I have discussed my plans to distract Barker at this time with Kiyoshi... I will be showing my hand at that time. Think you will be able to be a part of that?
Placation. The German's jitters ceased at the sobering words and his face cooled. What Mr. Asiv spoke of was true. Crows was allowed by Barker to exist, to train for a year tirelessly, establishing order, a food supply and reworking a new (questionably) temporary government. Barker had led Crows grow into a sizable, military force.
What better way to send a message to dissenters then by crushing the most obvious opposition? The German worked his way back to the table, keeping his attention on Mr. Asiv. He patted his rib cage and gave a slight slap to his right knee. At neither did he recoil in sudden pain.
"Ich have finally, truly healed. Ich would eternally regret sitting vatever du have planned out."
"I will give you the details when it comes to that. How much about my past do you know?"
"Unlike Mr. Blaze or Mr. Seran, Ich vas not born into money or natural talents."
A smile.
"Little or nothing," he invited himself to a chair across the table.
Well when I was in high school I took the School Captain title at Olympion High. Alex Malice there, was my Varsity Captain. Ender, and Sean Barker himself where my pillars. Every year as if annually Sean would challange me for leadership, every time I beat him. Above that we always faught some interesting odds, and it would come down to me and Sean. Sean would attack without me and be defeated while I brought victory. I think working in my shadow broke him down bit by bit over the years.
We all pretty much went our seperate ways after high school until the Enforcers where brought into 259. It didn't sit right, so I brought Malice to supervise for me while I investigated. He brought Ender to 259 to help him.
I asked Sean to help me as well, but in the end, he was actually behind it, by the time I figured it all out, it was too late."
Asiv paused to give the next bit more meaning.
"Sean has been behind everything since Apollo and Hapheastus attacked the school."
The air of confidence made way to brooding, thoughtful silence. Words were whisked out of the air with a dream catching net, trying to look at Mr. Asiv's face, minus a few years. The Student Hierarchy, after all, had existed for as long as the boy had recalled, but it seemed to differ from country to country, each handling corporal punishment with varying, though not necessarily different, levels of violence.
Mr. Malice he knew of only in brief, from the few files he had skimmed from 259's public records, but hardly enough to consider himself knowledgeable as he would have most believe in regards to everyone. But the weight of how far some treachery would go...
"Unfettered" thought back to the day. The first time he had met Barker...
Barker's gift. A purple canister. A supplement. A weapon to use against 259's enemies.
The German closed his eye, reflecting in a strange silence.
"Ich vas not here during Apollo or Hapheasstus' attack. But Ich volunteered vith barely a clew to counter-attack," he said without elaborating, their knowledge mutual on the details.
"You followed her... Didn't you?"
Half-smile turned grimace. The German opened his eye, looking unhappily at Mr. Asiv. Underneath the table, the German felt at his right knee again, as though expecting it to explode in angry pain. He was almost disappointed that it did not. "Unfettered's" eye dulled.
"One vay of putting it."
Yeah Asiv felt that cord when he tripped over it... Hah, another wheelchair joke.
"Now, as calculating an individual as you are, or as Winters was. "Thrush" didn't seem all that... Brainy to me. I'm sure regaurdless you wouldn't of come to visit me, just to check my accomodations?"
A grin. Its movation was uncertain.
"A cautious observation. Vat makes du so certain?
"But du are correct. Ich feel like Ich have learned three times more in here then vat Ich have been baking myself out in ze sun trying to search for such answers."
He paused for a moment, leaning back. His elbows pressed onto the table as he clasped his fingers together, bringing his wrapped thumbs under his chin.
"In spite of such cautionary, accurate observations, du remain as open as du vere when Ich first happened upon du," he stated thoughtfully.
Mitsuki. "Thrush." A question of loyalty. Leon's uncertain fate. A letter from the once, seemingly defunct Gods. A layout the surrounding territories, down to the smallest of details. Mr. Asiv slowly, methodically began to unravel the past, probing into the German as much as he was informing him.
Refreshing.
"As it stands... zer ist no vay to win. Not in outright combat."
And yet.
As if to just say, 'and yet.'
He looked up at Mr. Asiv, head tilting slightly.
"Open combat is exactly where you will win, because its impossible."
Asiv would grin this time, lighting his cig.
"but thats more towards the mission I have in mind."
Asiv decided to answer Unfettereds question.
"I am certain because I am cautious. How else would I have got Leon back in the game if I hadn't told you not to mess with him? How else would you know where the missing 259ers where if I hadn't pushed you towards the correctional facility? Its not because your predictable, its because your curious."
Asiv would drag from his cig.
"Thats why you would visit me with more than intention to check on me, curiosity."
Victory in the impossible. The German stared, almost unamused at the lighter as it flicked on and off instantly, if it weren't for the fact that he was completely fascinated. Fascinated at the possibility.
"Predictably curious," he would smile to himself, appreciatively.
His visit was an inevitability, this much was true. Still much to learn. The grin broadened.
"Du know... Ich had been thinking ever since ze day I fought Leon on zat symbol. Zat fixation. Dragons.
"Dragons are powerful, mythical, imaginary creatures. Breath fire. Fly. Nearly impenetrable scales. Strength to crush mountains. Greed und lust beyond human normal capacities. Wiser then ze oldest men, yet more irrational than ten-thousand impassioned youths. Extremities, impossibilities, as invulnerable as ideas und ideals. Immortal as they are non-existant.
"How could a dragon ever die?"
Asiv grinned.
"Why not ask a Dragon?"
"Hm," he snapped his fingers.
"Damn curiosity," he smiled in kind.
In kind.
"Though there is someone I would like to ask some questions. If you dont mind."
"Hm? Ja?"
"I believe you call him... Tai."
The German raised a brow.
"Ich will fetch him at ze earliest conveniance."
"If its not too much trouble."
