Within Shadows [Mathew]

[Kyrie Blaze]

Between cliff-side antics and bringing back two new Dragon inductees, things had been mildly busy. Kyrie was sitting.

Waiting.

She wanted to know why, on a few fronts. She was curious. Then, there was business as usual.

[Mathew Amtrum]

Mathew approached from behind her, his footfalls soft. His hand clasped her shoulder.

"Have you been practicing?"

[Kyrie Blaze]

Soft, but somewhat audible. Unlike the last time, Kiyr didn't move.

"Whenever I have the time." She paused, "However...I find myself with a few questions."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Which would be?"

He asked, sliding his hand from her shoulder and moving in front of her. Taking a seat on the ground, legs folding underneath him.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie opened her eyes, watching as Mathew sat. She waited until he was settled.

"You were repairing the streets, the other day, when we brought back Levi and Jackson...yet, I would have expected you would perform such a feat in Dragon Territory, and not the Neutral Territories, even if we will move in to those areas soon. May I know why?"

[Mathew Amtrum]

He looked at her, his face neutral. He didn't betray his thoughts with even the most fleeting of smiles.

"Why wouldn't I do it there?"

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie looked at him for a few quiet moments.

"It does not seem to align with your normal way of acting." She tilted her head. "You tend to act in your own interest, any time I have seen you act."

[Mathew Amtrum]

He didn't say anything for several moment, just staring at her with unblinking eyes before finally giving in and answering her question.

"That is the street where I made Bastille mine."

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kiyr inclined her head, letting her hair spill forwards before straightening and reaching back to fold it into a braid.

"I see."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"But in time all the streets will be fixed. Barker will fall, and the world will rebuild. One step at a time."

He was pretty confident about that.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Another slight nod.

"What kind of world will you build..? And how will you help to build it?"

[Mathew Amtrum]

"You know, I honestly don't know what world I will build. Or how I will do it."

As silly as that sounded.

"I would like to build a world with strong orders in foundation. Where people know their place and their role. I would imagine strict punishment for crimes. A Government that isn't drowning in red tape, and so much more. But, to be realistic. Right now I would settle for houses without holes for everyone and fresh water and power running."

The world they lived in had different problems then the world they used to live in. He still hadn't figured out just what he wanted to do with this new reality. The game had changed, and he was still changing with it.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie was silent, letting him verbally work through his thoughts, but she found herself smiling softly at the end.

"Even if you do not know how or what, for the moment, you have a solid foundation of both ideas and ideals." A slow pause, as if she was deliberating on saying, before she continued. "I have faith you will find a way, and that you will know how, and why, and what."

Simple truth.

"I will," She hoped, "Be around to witness and be part of the rebuilding."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Oh I'm sure we will all find a way to rebuild."

And impish smile crossed his features before he shot her a wink.

"Want to hear a little secret?"

He beckoned forward with a single crook of his finger.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie blinked very slowly as Mathew...

...well that wasn't quite like him. And it confused her.

She blinked again, uncertain. But, she did say trust and loyalty, did she not? Chances were likely he would just hit her, but, all the same...

She slowly slipped forwards.

'Yes, I would."
