Jack tried to dance away, he was just as fast as David but his reactions were slow in comparison. To try and beat David blow for blow or parry and counter would only encourage him to lob off his head. No it was much better Jack try and avoid any strike he could and block any he couldn't. His short blade would give him the speed he required to defend with. The storm continued to rage on, as the moon began to move on, day light returning to the world. It was overcast, dark and raining. The fires unrelenting spreading from building to building. Fighting desperately against the rain which would ultimately win.
He pivoted to his side, keeping his blade up to protect his body. Finding it hard to read David's movements at all. There was a gap between them the size of the grand canyon yet ultimate power makes one careless. It was probably the case that David rarely met a man who could stand his equal, his opportunity would come. All he had to do was survive until then.
"Trying to finish it in one blow? Please... don't ruin the f...u... "
Laughing as he got more distance between them, his footwork as always superb. Survival was key, Jack would have to be patient and that was the hardest thing about this. All he wanted to do was to see blood, there was never enough blood.
His mocking tone was cut short by the immobilizing feeling of pain as the blade ran up from his waist passed his neck. It wasn't a particularly deep cut but he hadn't accounted for it. It didn't catch him in full or it would have killed him, reeling back Jack stumbled onto the ground. Sliding back trying to get distance between him and David. The blood was flowing freely from the cut, but nothing stitches wouldn't cure.
Slowly David followed him, blade raised in hand ready to deliver the final blow, to end Jack's life. That's when the final sound of thunder rolled through their arena. The deafening screech of a building collapsing was so loud he couldn't even hear his own labored breathing.
It's over he thought as the building came down on him. Darkness again consumed him as he passed wedged between two columns which had protected him from being crushed but he had a broken arm. Hours would pass between him passing out and waking up. Once he heard footsteps above a few hushed voices but he quickly went back to sleep.
OOC: If David survives it's a victory to David.
