Rina Sometimes life seems like a dream The beady eyes of a large blackbird blinked at the passing form of a young woman dressed in black jeans and a blue tank top. It cocked its head to the side, seemingly to consider her as she passed. Her loose, raven-black hair whipped back as the ocean breeze rushed at her from the docks ahead.
Rina's usual trek to the ocean was suddenly changed by this bird.
Black feathers ruffled, their blue-green sheen glinting under the sunlight. With a caw, the blackbird swooped down to land on Rina's shoulder. Startled, she brought her arm around before it could land, swatting it away. The bird gave a indignant squawk and snapped is beak as it settled before her on the ground. She looked down at it, scowling. "What?" she demanded. As if it understood what she was asking, the blackbird lifted one clawed foot and cawed again. "What in the world...?" she raised a brow, curious. This bird was acting like a pet! Like a parrot wanting up on its master's shoulder. A sharp, mental prod made her eyes widen. Had that bird just mentally connected with her? She slowly reached down, arm outstretched, and the pitch black bird hopped up onto her arm. She looked at it for a moment before standing back up. When she straightened, it moved to rest on her shoulder, blinking it's dark eyes.
"You're no ordinary blackbird, are you?" she muttered in question as she continued her way to the docks.
The bird made a clacking sound, but otherwise was silent. Rina sighed and shook her head. She must have imagined it. This was a bird for crying out loud! There was just no way it could... "Ow! Hey!" she rubbed at the spot where the bird had decided to pull at her ear. She glanced at from out of the corner of her eye, both appalled and amazed. "You can sense it, huh? Smart bird." she reached around to rub the top of its head with one finger. The bird must have some sort of human intelligence. How else could it connect to her mentally?
It was no surprise. Barker had done much. If there were experiments, then why not animals on the human level of intelligence?

The dark, steely blue of waves pounded away against the concrete walls of a wharf that he sat on. Cold water sprayed up with each impact. The wet mist failed to climb high enough to reach Phoenix, but the refreshing wind and smell of salt surrounded him. The usually warm sun was muffled by an overcast sky, only allowing the occasional ray of light to pierce the clouds and shine upon the ocean. Standing atop the dock, Phoenix had a clear view of the sea expanding seemingly endlessly to the horizon. This was a favourite place of his to think over past events, meditate, relax and plan for the future. Calm close to the shore but relentlessly rough in the distance, seemingly tranquil above but masking a danger lurking just beneath, the sight of the ocean was a constant source of inspiration.
The harsh caw of a blackbird rang out. Following its flight for a brief moment as it passed overhead and disappeared into the distance, he wondered where it was going. Turning back towards the water, deep in thought, he leant against the metal railing by the edge. The tumultuous motion of the waves was mirrored in his strong purple eyes. Time passed slowly as thoughts raced through his mind, each one processed and dissected carefully. Granting himself a short respite, Phoenix listened carefully to the sounds of the ocean.

Rina Sometimes life seems like a dream The wind clawed at her hair as Rina stepped out onto the first plank of the docks. The raven shifted on her shoulder, scooting closer to her to hide from the wind. Rina looked about as she made her way out, enjoying the sounds of the crashing waves. She paused.
There was someone else here.
Making a sort of chuckling sound, the bird upon her shoulder bobbed his head when he saw the other person. "Hush you." she gave a little smile. What an odd bird. "I guess you'll need a name." she muttered to herself as she approached the person sitting on the docks. "Hey," she said over the sounds of wind and water, tucking a stray length of hair behind her ear as she reached his side. "Mind if I join you?"
The blackbird cawed and clacked his beak.

The jet black spikes of Phoenix's hair whipped ceaselessly in the rustling wind. His slightly unfocused gaze seeking to probe the far away horizon whilst his thoughts flowed quickly deep inside his mind. A new sound suddenly joined the orchestra of wind, wave and wishful thinking. An unnatural sound, yet one he was familiar with. Quiet footfalls. Taking his hands off the railing and standing up straight, Phoenix turned his amethyst eyes to the source of the noise.
“Hey, mind if I join you?”
The voice chimed through the wind, loud but crystal clear. Phoenix beheld the woman that stood before him. He hadn't been expecting to run into anyone. Of all the times that he had visited this place since he arrived, no one else had ever approached him on the dock. A jolt of curiosity surged through Phoenix's mind as another sound, this time a harsh caw, rang through the air. A raven was perched upon the girl's shoulder, blending in almost perfectly with her dark hair. The odd circumstances piqued Phoenix's interest, something that had always been difficult for him to ignore.
“No, of course not! It'd be a change to have some company.”

Rina Sometimes life seems like a dream The male had stood and turned to face her, his expression that of surprise. She could sense the emotion as well, twisting along with curiosity the moment he saw the crow on her shoulder.
The bird had submerged itself in her hair.
"Get out of my hair." she said to it. It made a chuckling sound and fluttered its wings, but didn't move. She frowned. She could feel from the bird that it didn't like the wind. "Sit o my lap when I sit down and the wind won't reach you." she told it, going up to where the male was standing as he spoke, saying that he would actually enjoy the company. She smiled. "Hi, I'm Rina Vade. Most just call me Rin."
She took a seat at the edge of the docks, letting her legs dangle over the water. The blackbird hopped down into her lap as she had asked and cocked its head at her. She stroked her finger over the top of its head and it made a small clicking sound before huddling up against her.

OoC: Haha no worries xD It's still very easy to read! ”Get out of my hair. Sit on my lap when I sit down and the wind won't reach you.”
The exchange was followed closely by Phoenix, and he was all the more confused by it. The girl's clear voice resonated clearly through the usually deafening sound of waves, however, the sound of the ocean had faded slightly as if it too was interested in what she had to say. She had obviously been talking, not to Phoenix, but to the raven hiding itself amongst her nearly pitch black hair. There must be a reason for that, one that was clearly unbeknownst to him. The girl walked up to him and shot a smile towards him.
“Hi, I'm Rina Vade. Most just call me Rin.”
As Rin moved past Phoenix and sat at the edge of the wall, the raven hopped down into her lap and huddled up against her for warmth. Just as she had told it to. Odd. Realising that he was still standing and had yet to respond in kind to her introduction, he turned around and leant against the railing next to her, in a similar position to what she would have first seen him in. A smile crept across his face, it was interesting to have new people around.
“Hey Rin, nice to meet you. You can call me Phoenix. That's an interesting raven you have!”
Unable to completely separate his thoughts from his speech, a slightly confused tone seeped into his last sentence.

Rina Sometimes life seems like a dream When she took a seat at the docks, he turned and leaned against the railing, looking down at her and commenting on the raven in her lap. "Oh, he's not mine." she said, glancing up. "He just....I guess if he continues to follow me, then that means I'm his human." she laughed a little at this.
It wasn't she who chose the blackbird, it was the bird that chose her.
"Hey, you know what Qi is don't you?" she asked, looking back down at the bird in her lap. It blinked at her and clacked its beak.

“Oh, he's not mine. He just... I guess if he continues to follow me, then that means I'm his human.”
Her words were surprisingly easy to hear over the sounds of crashing waves but the implications of them were harder to grasp. A quiet laugh sliced through the cold air, brushing apart the wind, however, the conversation lapped into silence as Phoenix struggled to understand how a bird could consciously chose to follow a person.
“Hey, you know what Qi is don't you?”
He'd heard of it before. The life energy that was consistently the basis of ancient Chinese philosophy and medicine. How could such a thing like that have relevance now? Wrestling within himself, he managed to subdue the part of his nature that hated advertising ignorance.
“Qi? It sounds familiar. Could you explain it to me?”
[/color] OOC: Sorry for delayed response!!
