Grinning at the confused little expression on her face (What the HELL is this person even DOING?), Delilah looked up to hear Bastille and Mathew hum the still crying Evelyn to sleep. To which Bastille promptly fell asleep to as well.
She chuckle at Mathew, raising a brow. "We should probably put Mom back to bed. It's not good for her to sleep like that." she said in hushed tones.
Coming from experience of course; she'd needed a C-section as well, but this was in a time when medical care had a standard. Falling asleep in the rocking chair seemed like a good idea until you woke up and had to walk like that for the next six hours.

"Wouldn't be such an issue if she took her medication." He grumbled. "Would you mind holding her for a moment?"
He asked Delilah as he glanced down at his little princess.

Delilah's face went blank for a moment at the request. Then, it lit up in a bright, sunny moment of pure enthusiasm. Would she like to hold the tiny baby? WOULD SHE?!
"Yeah, sure,"
Because babies need calm and not crazy Delilah flipping out because they are SO FUCKING CUTE.
She would walk silently over to Mathew and hold her arms out for Evelyn, taking great care to cradle her head and smile down at the little girl.
How long had it been since she held a newborn? Too long. She was reminded again that life was too precious a miracle to be wasted.
Ah, but then she remembered. She turned to Mathew.
"You said 'cute' after you read my letter," she said quietly. "WHat did you mean by that, exactly?"

Mathew meanwhile would pick up Bastille gently and set her on her bed. Taking care to not be rough, and to tuck her in once she was settled.
"Hmmm? Did I now?"
He knew damn well that he did.

Delilah was still smiling down at little Evelyn. "Yes you diiiid~. YES YOU DIIIIID~."
Which might be weird, but she was still talking to the baby, too. In the long run, she supposed it didn't matter. Maybe he disagreed completely and was trying to spare her feelings. Because SOMETIMES, the Earth Dragon was nice. She forced herself to stop anyway.
"What IS your take on it, though?" her eyes flicked to Kiyr briefly --sympathetically-- and back to Mathew. "And Kiyr's hypothesis might not be so far off."

Kiyr, partially willingly and partially unwillingly, moved forwards in silent question. Part of her recognized what Mathew was doing. He knew, for some unfathomable reason, what this was doing to her. She submitted, and because though she had heard their names, she hadn't met them, she slipped forwards on quiet feet, poised to spring away if necessary.
She got close, but didn't reach out or do more than look, keeping her eyes averted though she caught sight of Delilah's glance. And winced. But stayed quiet, only turning her gaze to Mathew in a question of whether she should help, more than anything.

"I think it's amusing that you used the term allied force. As far as I know we have not made a treaty, and your former leader treated me rather poorly and personally offended me. I figured it was more of a ceasefire than alliance."
Though the way he said it should make it clear that he was open to talking terms. He liked finding ways to give himself perks.

She made a face at him, "We're working on it."
But the wheels started turning in her mind. It was a first to have this brought up without meeting any outright disdain from Mathew. She pounced on the oppourtunity, delicately bouncing the baby in her arms.
"Was it not you who said the banishment of a Dragon would reach into God and Crow territory?" she replied with a polite smile, "That sounds like an alliance to me. I would very much like to make that a thing."

"I did. After reading your letter and it's request. I assumed if you requested such you would follow the same expectations in an effort to show it's a two way street."
He shrugged.
"What are you offering to make it happen on my end?"

"So it would," she agreed to his first statement. And it definitely would.
As to the second point...
"Apart from sharing infinitely valuable resources such as food, technology, medical aid and general peace between our combined forces that would aid eachother in gathering territory, supplies, and fighting alongside eachother...I'm not sure what more I could offer you personally from a logistics standpoint."
Her eyes would connect firmly with his.
"Unless you told me."
Encouraging him to be up front about what he wanted.

"And that's all well and good. But we have access to a lot of that thanks to my ties with the Gods. It would be nice, but we are not exactly struggling. What's more is you need our soldiers more then we need yours. I mean you guys are good, but we are way better. And it's likely because of that Dragon soldiers would be in the front line and thus take the brunt of casualties. Am I wrong?"
He was clearing this up before he got to what he wanted.

Delilah allowed herself a small laugh, "Surely you haven't forgotten, Ares, I am a God as well. The Crows have the same treaty as you do. You might outrank me, but I assure you that we have that same aid and give back on that same level. To that end, we're equal.
"I agree about our forces; you have more man power than we do, but tactically, we have an advantage. Ours are trained differently from yours, but we do have two special operations units on the field as well as several contingents of specialized soldiers. We have infantry men, just the same as you. And they are among our best.
"I can guarantee that the Crows forces will hold the front line just as well as the Dragon's do. Alongside them. And if we were to combine forces, what's to distinguish between Dragon and Crow? Your casualties would be ours and vice versa.
"With a combined attacking force, we would be able to collectively sweep neutral areas and wipe Barker off the map. We have almost as many soldiers as you do. Alone, we are incredible forces. Together we would be unstoppable."

He waved away her statement.
"You have the treaty as well, but the Barker free trade route is through our lands. We don't have the same logistics problems you do several territories cut off and isolated. An alliance would be helpful yes. But I feel you need us more than we need you."
He smirked.
"Besides, I already have a way to get to Barker without a lot of the bullshit. But what I'm interested in isn't the immediate gain of such an alliance."
To short term.
"I already know we will win, with or without it."

Unstoppable.
The word echoed in her ears, and Kiyr closed her eyes, resisting the urge to wince and shake her head. If there was one thing she took from the Storm Dragon, it was that nobody should be underestimated. And Mathew had even agreed; not in so many words, but he said there was no such thing as ultimate power. This translated to forces as well, among other things.
She didn't speak, though.

She shrugged. "We have operations going to claim ourselves more territory from Barker over the next little while. Though our attention is focused elsewhere; David took me to a place where the Barker soldiers have been massing and training not so long ago. We are unsure whom he will try to hit, so we have been preparing our forces thoroughly. Trade by sea has been easier for us. We hope to build a flotilla soon.
"And of course; the Dragons are collectively the strongest group, and that's because of you three Elders. Barker will be defeated. That much is certain.
"But what happens after?"
She took a moment to study him before continuing.
"For the sake of our future --and I don't mean a gang in particular, I mean all the survivors of the apocalypse-- an alliance would help us rebuild once Barker has been defeated. I don't want my son growing up with Dragon's fighting Crows with Gods caught in the middle. Neither of our groups would be successful with the other sitting by, claiming land and resources and refusing to share. For that, yes, the Crows do need the Dragon's.
"But if you defeated us, what's to stop infighting amongst your own group? What's to stop rebels from appearing to usurp your reign? If any one leader was held accountable for their actions to the other leaders, this wouldn't happen, if it were a broad group. For that, you need us. And me in particular."
Seeing as she spoke for "Unfettered" at any rate.
