Emily sighed.
...
She sighed again.
It was March. If she was studying in the Philippines instead she would've been more or less done and would be enjoying 3 months of freedom. But no~....
She was insistent to stay away from Asia...
The Philippines, to what she's hearing right now, isn't doing so well economically. Well, she wasn't helping... it had been like... YEARS since she went back there - or even thought of contacting what's left of her family there since, well... she was born there!
Meh...
If she really wanted to forget that place she would've used her shorter Japanese name: Kari Aoyama.
Aye... She'd flung herself into a crappy identity crisis. What's a girl to do...? ... and to think she'll be a sophomore soon.
... yeah... a sophomore...
She's getting older...
Wait - enough of these thoughts! She was heading out for a nice dip in the school pool...
>___>
Well, she wasn't still part of the Swim team... but she had been doing it the past few months and she hadn't gotten into any trouble for that.
No one's been using that thing but her since that darned Varsity Captain disappeared. Well, she meant to talk to that guy about this situation now that rumours of his return had spread around the campus. Well, it's a good thing for the most part!
Emily sighed and flipped open a rather thick book. Well, it was her Anatomy and Physiology book... she had signed up for that class that Layla was setting up. In 8-12 sessions, she and her classmates will be toxic with information regarding Anatomy, Physiology and basic Pathology.
Well, Emily had indeed been interested in Medicine... but not like... THIS EARLY ON. God knows what the world's been thinking and they've inserted medical subjects in secondary schools now.
... well, she skimmed through the book... the lessons weren't so bad... and it actually looked interesting... Layla's book was pretty good! Not bad for a Cosplaying doctor.

(OOC: *reserves* Out to lunch first Writing now Up ^_^) *FLICKER*
Orientation was a bit discomforting. Some of the policies here are...anarchical, to put it bluntly. Surely, students who survive such an environment will be suited for the rigors of the chaotic larger world, but it is unlikely that some don't get mowed down...I'll try not to make trouble, and if trouble is made for me....well that's a bridge to hike on another day. Patience, persistence.
*FLICKER*
A slight pain in my gut tells me I should take it easy. Were I to ignore it the result could be nothing, but I'd rather play it safe today. No games for me, no thanks. To play games is to pretend, to place oneself in a universe of one's own construction, separate from the normal. Sometimes you take a few friends with you.
Monopoly, for example. your friends or family gather round. Faces remain the same but suddenly you find yourself surrounded not by loved ones, but by money-grubbers, tycoons and barons towering over a tiny cardboard world, vying for a limited supply of colored papers, which they bury beneath the edge of the flat earth and only reluctantly unearth it when absolutely necessary. I guess things aren't much different in real economics. Who is to say this tiny universe isn't as real as the one you return to when the game ends? After all, what is the universe to us except our mind's interpretation of the crude signals it receives from our sensory organs?
*FLICKER*
"Maybe Ramius is trying to defect." A car zooms around the corner, spraying the brown-grey-green of early spring grass. "...including one way the hell out at Pearl." Gerrymandering...I wish I could remember what that word means...
*FLICKER*
FOCUS, I'm
losing focus, these thoughts are disconnected, static of a channel whose programming is ended. Star Spangled Banner plays, and that concludes our broadcast day; you know the drill.
*FLICKER*

*FLICKER*
My pace of travel has brought me alongside a fairly attractive female student. The percentage of such individuals here is astounding; it's strange how sculpted individuals seem to have been drawn to such a school. I suppose they desire greater challenges than the false glory of good looks and popularity that students of normal public high schools strive to achieve, which would be beyond simple for so many people here. I'm definitely out of my league here...well, that would be the case if such a shoddy stereotyped supposition could hold any more credibility than a sieve holds water.
*FLICKER*
I don't apologize for my thoughts, nor do I even believe most of them. I think most humans minds' wander in the dark, and the more they wander the more likely they are to stumble across something useful.
*FLICKER*
Normally, I would not deign it appropriate to pester people who are about their own business, but my eye is drawn by the text in her hands. I recognize it! It's very twin graces a desk shelf back in my apartment, and the class it belongs with is beginning in the near future. I make to smile amiably at her by way of greeting, but she appears intent upon the contents of her book, or perhaps her gaze pierces past the book, deep into thought. Despite my silent nature I find myself speaking a simple query. [/left] "Good read?"

Having been previously preoccupied with her thoughts, the voice of a young man somewhat startled her as she stiffened a bit, her back straightened like crazy and her head looked towards his direction.
Well, he asked this: "Good read?"
Emily couldn't help but smile at the guy. "It is."
This AnaPhysio Textbook was indeed a great buy... first she bought this, it had a workbook and a CD along with it. The Workbook looked pretty intimidating so she left it at home, hell would blow over if Layla decided to just have them submit the entire thing done.
"You have a book like this?" she asked, "Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology by Marieb?"

*FLICKER*
Like an ill-oft used flourescent tube
*FLICKER*
Like a song growing slowly in volume from pianissimo to mezzo forte, Thought returns. What is it about speech, about communicating that so derails my train of thought, throwing its engine to the gravel? It is unnatural, surely; everyone else seems to have an easy time of it.
*FLICKER*
I went and bothered her, she stiffens, her internal peace shattered by my rude intrusion. Sometimes I surprise myself with my capacity for being so pretentious and selfish, despite knowing better.
*FLICKER*
Maybe it's because I have difficulty letting go of the fact that people are complicated. Communicating isn't just talking to a wall, its a collision of complex inner worlds, it's banging on each others' shells, peering in cracks, an alien light shining on our mental landscape, letting us see it in another way.
*FLICKER*
Hers is a face that seems created for smiles; either that, or smiles were created in the hope that she might one day wear them.
*FLICKER*
Do I have a book like this, she asks. I am surprised by her leap of intuition, but then again I've never claimed nor desired to be hard to read."I do; good call! It's for a class." I blurt this out without thinking, but it comes out a lot smoother than I could have hoped. I give her the smile I was going to give her before. Expressions are another confusing part of communication, now that I think about it. Do the expressions on our faces match what we feel? Does what feels like a friendly smile from the inside come out as an arrogant smirk or creepy grin on the outside? I think that may be taking it a step too far; it's an uncertain world where everything is changing all the time, but a smile usually means what it means...I think.
*FLICKER*
It belatedly occurs to me that the odds of students at the same school having the same textbook for no reason are extremely low. It is likely that..."Are you taking 'Human AnaFizz' too, then?" I ask, but I think the answer will be yes. However, to assume is to beg to be made wrong, not that one can avoid being wrong for very long. It is the way of things to be mistaken, corrected, and thereby reformed.

Its just my third week of school so far and i was having a reativly good day and My little pooch Waap was having a good day to he hadent bitten or peed on any one yet. i was quite amazed it was the first day sence ive been here he hasent done that. so im once again getting hungry and recenty the microwave at my pad got short circuited not gonna point finger but Waap was acting weird....... so all that was going though my mind is Ramen, Ramen, Ramen and most of the time when i get hungry i cant think straight. soooooo im looking around Campous for a microwave or hot water or a metal plate i can heat it on. while im searching for a way to cook my Ramen i notice Waap is missing and first thought in my mind
Well i knew he had to do SOMETHING today.
so now i have to things to look for and my mind is just not fulling working so as i round the corner i see two of my classmates and i am releaved i have found people to help me and just as i notice them i see Waap and he seems to be coming up behind them and knowing him i have a feeling he is targeting the book so i run up to try warning them and i make a fool of my self

"I do; good call! It's for a class."
Emily smiled again. A class? For sure it's for Layla's Advanced Biology class: Anatomy and Physiology. Aye... it was also gonna be good for college credits; would be great for those interested in the medical fields. "Professor Layla Clavering's Class?"
...
"So are you taking Antomy and Physiology, then?" "Are you taking 'Human AnaFizz' too, then?"
Emily chuckled, they seemed to ask at the same time. "Well, looks like it." She said, closing the book and held it close to her, "It's the first time I've seen you around here, are you ne-"
...
Something smells like dog.
"Watch out, microwave, need to ramen, cook.... WAAP"
Huh? Emily sooooo didn't get that. She blinked once, then twice...
Something really smelled like a ... dog...
Then Emily looked behind her and stiffened at what she saw: a dog. She inched behind the boy, more than a little nervous.
She never really was a fan of dogs... or at least several breeds.

(OOC: *reserves, if that's allowed* I can't write anymore tonight; sleeeeepy. First thing in the morning, I swearsOK I lied ^_^) "So are you taking Antomy and Physiology, then?" "Are you taking 'Human AnaFizz' too, then?" I laugh out loud a little at our coincidental arrival at the same question. Tension dissipates like vapor released into the open air. I am relieved also that amicable people such as this girl exist here...when I went through orientation I got the impression that I would be dealing with a lot of people who were essentially half-crazed, spiky-haired, angst-filled anime characters. Not that anime is bad, on the contrary I've liked most of what I've been exposed to, its just something better suited for fiction, not real life like 259...
*FLICKER*
Distant disturbance, approaching
*FLICKER* "Well, looks like it. It's the first time I've seen you around here, are you ne-" I am still absorbing her message when I realize that she has halted mid-query, and has grown tense. Turning around I see that our little world has been invaded...by a small dog. The girl inches behind me a bit, clearly made nervous by this animal. Dogs, especially aggressive dogs, can be frightening in their assertiveness. I widen my stance and put out my arm across in front of her in a protective gesture, by reflex; in truth it would probably be me that needed protecting if there was any real danger.
*FLICKER*
I aim with my mind, not with my hand. He who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
*FLICKER* Having my experiences from living in a rural community to draw upon, I can deal with dogs. Everyone and their cousin has dogs out in farm country. Though I have altered my stance and level of alertness, I am careful to exude no indication of internal disquiet or fear. Dogs communicate on a respect level, and a dog is most likely to respect confidence and calmness. And so I find myself staring down this tiny terror. The sound of a raised voice approaching tells me that this beast's owner is not far behind it."What's your story, fella?" I ask it, not expecting an answer from the dog of course, mostly to pass the time.

"He..... Is...... Harm...... less...... I Ramen need cook microwave...... no i mean i need a mirowave to cook my ramen..."
Harmless, eh? Emily couldn't tell. She was always biased against dogs. Until their temperament is proven otherwise, that is.
She took a deep breath, peeking from her safety behind her would-be classmate. "Th-There's a ma-microwave at the ca-ca-canteen. The ladies working there should be fine giving that r-ramen some attention..."
She finally calmed down... phew...
Well, for the most part. "Are you guys new to 259?"

(OOC: HOLY GIANT SIGNATURE, BATMAN!) (OOC: Oh, its a bit smaller now...but still ^_^) -------------------------------------------------------- "He..... Is...... Harm...... less...... I Ramen need cook microwave...... no i mean i need a mirowave to cook my ramen..." ...half crazed, uncanny obsession with asian noodles...I guess my expectations won't be disappointed after all.... *FLICKER "Th-There's a ma-microwave at the ca-ca-canteen. The ladies working there should be fine giving that r-ramen some attention..." It's a good thing she had an answer to give this fella. My knowledge of the school's geography *FLICKER topography *FLICKER layout is not yet a part of my limited understanding of the place that is collectively recognized as the 'real' world. *FLICKER This is the part where one might expect a comment such as 'I am surprised by how nervous the dog makes the girl; surely that's not natural.' Well it is natural, it's as natural as liking different foods or preferring certain genres of music. The flavors of fear vary, and people vary. *FLICKER "Are you guys new to 259?" she asks, voice now unwavering. In my mind, I have decided to call her She Who Smiles, at least to hold the place until I learn her name. I turn to her, and speak "Yep, guilty as charged. ...Roland at your service." Feeling rather silly after speaking so preposterously, ('at your service'...pfft...who do I think I am, Thorin Oakenshield?) I grin a sincere grin and offer my right hand. And now we come to the handshake. The handshake is pretty peculiar, and strikes me as a very stiff and formal means of greeting, almost always awkward. In some countries people greet each other with a hug or a kiss, even strangers. here we have the handshake...still, it is offered with good will and I hope it suffices. I extend my other hand to the fella, whom I am now calling in my head Ramen Warrior, again as a placeholder. "And at yours, dude."

"Yep, guilty as charged. ...Roland at your service."
Mm... A gentleman. Interesting. Men like this are mostly a rarity, guess It's her lucky day?
" Huh .... Oh im new Here too and my name is Deta but u can call me Dots"
Ok. Roland... and Deta... er... Dots. Wow... she didn't notice it much a few moments ago but ... well... his skin was weirdly patterned with white dots. Interesting, someone with an Auto-immune disorder.
"Nice to meet you both... Name's Emi-"
"uh can u watch Waap while i go cook this.... ok thanks "
He then zipped off.
"-ly..."
... WHAT?!
"Wa-Wait!" Emily said, a little dumbfounded at suddenly being left with a DOG of all things. Well... it... IS a little cute. Question is, how is his temperament? Emily began to wonder why his name was WAAP in the first place. It's pretty unusual, really. "He... left."
Emily sighed and looked at the dog, still a little nervous. "Eh... he-hello... um... Waap? I-Is it?" The girl would try to be friendly with the creature, a hand reaching out towards the small chihuahua wolf.

*FLICKER* Mark well the man of speckled arm he carries the weight of lives. From monstrous decadence Is born monstrous appetite. *FLICKER* I make up little poems like that all the time. They don't mean anything; it's just words arranging themselves by coincidence, like clouds shaping into a sailing ship or slithering serpent. *FLICKER* Dots is a fitting nickname...I wonder what causes those marks...skin condition? *FLICKER*
Nice to meet you both... Name's Emi
"uh can u watch Waap while i go cook this.... ok thanks "
"-ly..."
*FLICKER*
...Dots doesn't have the best people skills, it seems....Now we're stuck watching his dog... *FLICKER* I watch Dots' retreating form intently for a moment, and then shrug it off. Whatever. I smile. "Nice handle you have there, Emily." I say this as I lower myself to sit on the ground, eying our reluctant charge with skepticism. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the world right now. Here I am, just sitting on the ground, Emily to the side of me and this dog in front. Nothing complicated at all going on, just three strangers meeting each other through a strange set of coincidences. I find myself surrounded by an aura of complete relaxation that feels unnatural in its strength, but I'm too relaxed to be concerned. *FLICKER* Emily stretches a hand out toward the dog. I am pretty sure the dog will behave himself, unless Emily's nervousness makes it nervous as well; dogs pick up on stuff like that sometimes, as if they're retransmitting devices of some sort. *FLICKER* Gee, now that I think about it, I wonder if Emily knows that I meant 'name' when I said 'handle.' I can't think of any other way to read it myself, but slang gets confusing sometimes.

"Nice handle you have there, Emily."
Handle? "Handl- waa!?"
Waap gave a friendly lick towards the girl's outstretched hand. Obviously, still a bit scared... Emily fell back, lying now on her back as the dog pounced her and began to lick her all over her face.
Ew! Dog breath!
"AHHH... Get hi- Oohahahaa... th-that tickles! G-get him o-haha-off!" she laughed, struggling to get the dog out of her face. God, this would be a good time to get to the gym and take a shower to get the stench off her. Looks like Waap didn't have his bath in a while.
And it seems this dog's taken a bit of a liking to Emily. Oh the horror, loved by something she doesn't love back.
Apparently that kinda thing appears in her life all too frequently.

Ok.... All is once again good those nice ladys with the microwave cooked my ramen right up for me..... so now with my ramen in hand i begin to walk back to where i left Waap with the guy and the gal. who, if i heard correctly their names were Roland and Emily Respectivly.... as i turne the corrner i saw my Crazy Waap seeming to me attacking The Dog-A-Phopic gal Emilys Face..... upon seeing this i began to run but only fast enought not to spill my ramen. " no Waap dont eat her nose"
as i got closer i saw he was just licking her face and i begain to slow ...
"hello im back thank you for watching Waap"
I approched pulling Waaps bowl out of my messinger bag and poured him some ramen which diverteted his atention from Emily as i said helping her up
"Waap has seem to have taken a liking to ya"
