So much for a recon mission.
How the hell- she thought bombs were rendered useless because of Barker. What caused the explosion? Upon feeling the force of David's body against hers, Mitsuki scowled. It was not his job to keep her safe nor save her life, but nonetheless she (at most) appreciated the gesture.
Plan? Her plan was to get Kira and get the heck out of there. She could only assume how outnumbered they were, and with a child in the building...oh gosh, she only hoped Kira stayed put upon hearing/feeling the explosion.
Sure, the two of them efficiently took out 40 men prior...
A whirring noise. She glanced at David. Was that a helicopter...?
She moved to the other side of the eighth floor where a second stairwell would stand untouched from the explosion. On the way she would grab a fire extinguisher, knowing the stairway was probably...not empty. Her foot would kick open the door, the momentum of her running knocking it off its hinges. She winced- she hadn't meant to kick that hard, but...
Up the stairway she went, the sound of heavy footsteps approaching top-down heard. But she would not stop. For the sake of their own lives, they better leave Kira untouched...because then, it wouldn't be Kira's life in danger, but their own.
The fire extinguisher would prove to be a good distraction...and blanket of cover. If she saw people, she would spray the beast in their direction, white smoke blinding their eyes- disadvantageous for them, but advantageous for her, with her infrared and all.

David watched Mitsuki head up- which was not what he wanted. Its what he expected, sure, but the difficulty in finding the girl and getting out alive would make things worse. The strong smell of gas would hit them as they headed up higher- it was obvious they had to have used fuel to create the explosion. Gunpowder, bombs- they were all useless now. David would grab Mitsuki's arm after she sprayed a man, who came out of the eleventh floor doorwat,in the face. He would stop her.
"MITSUKI- the explosion came from our floor. The girl is probably dead- We HAVE to go!"
As much as it tore him up inside, he didnt want to ignore the facts simply because he was afraid they were true. If Kira was gone, they would be running into danger senselessly, and it was highly unlikely she had lived through that.
David turned and football kicked the man she had sprayed in the head, a crack coming as his neck snapped. He would look back up- they were now four floors below theirs, and flames were coming from the door. His eyes would turn back to Mitsuki, hoping she would see reason.

"No."
No, she could not- she had promised to go back for her. She would yank herself away from David if he planned on stopping her in her pursuits. If he wanted her to ditch Kira, he would have to knock her out; no words would be able to steer her otherwise, reason already out the door.
I promised.
Two more men, to which Mitsuki mitigated with ease. Pressure points was all she was aiming for- if they got in her way, they were dead.

'Damn!'
He cursed in his head, following after her. He would not knock her out or force her- no friend would ever do that. But he thought it foolish in the face of what they were up against. As she put down two more, David couldn't help but admire her persistence. Her will. And her drive to protect the innocent. He was that way, once. He growled now at himself, under his breath. Was he so ready to write off a little child? He would follow after with renewed vigor, the flames in front of the 15th floor overridden with fire.
He would not wait for her to put it out- he sucked the air out of them, the flames snuffing silently and quickly. The hallway was still on fire, though, holes in the floor dictating where explosions were. The smell of gas was worse up here, and the sound of the helicopter whirring was far closer than it should have been. At the other end of the hallway, a huge hole was in the wall, and men were milled about it brandishing blades. In the middle of the hall was Davids items, but a larger, blonde male held something else. Something small, kicking and screaming.
Kira.
Her face was blackened with soot, but she was very much alive, and fighting the large man who carried her. She looked over his shoulder and screamed-
"SUKI! HELP!"
The blonde man turned, a large scar over his left, blinded eye. He grinned, the other four of the tactical team already on the helicopter. The blonde man passed Kira to them- but Kira kicked, aimimg carefully, knocking a radio and roll of paper from the blonde males belt. The man did not notice the items fall behind a portion of rubble as he stood in the open doorway of the heli- before they would fly away, Kira shouting something indistinct over the whirring of the choppers blades.

"SUKI! HELP!"
A scream. Mitsuki launched herself forward, careful with where she stepped but more focused on the girl. In one swift motion, she would have grabbed her gas mask and pulled it on in the midst of running; now, she could breathe a little more normally.
She saw the items fall. But her first priority was Kira.
..no.
But she was too slow. Too weak. Her footsteps came to a stop at the edge of the building. Just like she was when she was with Kari...and now, with Kira. Another failure? Another death on her shoulders?
Breath caught in her throat, mind racing. She whipped her head around, assuming David had retrieved the dropped items.
What was their next plan?

David had not noticed the items fall- he was now turned around, pulling flames into their path with the air. The men who had come up were now trying to get through. David lifted his clothes (and some others he had packed last night for Mitsuki) and turned, running at Mitsuki (who hopefully will have gotten those items. If she did or didn't, either way David would be tackling her out the doorway as arrows zipped past- arms around her he would shoot through the air and smash through another buildings window. He would land roughly, rolling and smashing into a wall. He had released Mitsuki on landing.
He would cough and come to his knees, trying to take a breath after the damage smoke had done to his lungs. He would stagger to his feet before stumbling to the window- the men in the streets were now gone, trash and tent wrappings left where they were. He blinked a few times at the wall they had come from- nobody was there now. Glancing back down, he waited a minute before watching the seven tactical team pour from the building and pile into a jeep before peeling out and away. He would turn back to Mitsuki to see if she was alright and had landed without too much damage.

She collected the items right before he tackled her out. Her mind was so consumed with thoughts that she hadn't even realized they were flying out of the building and crash landing into another. If she landed incorrectly, she didn't feel the pain- a sense of numbness ran over her as she laid on her back, staring up at the ceiling...
She got up, peeling the mask away from her face, tossing the radio in his direction while she opened up the pieces of paper.

On one piece of paper was the photo of David, with a blank, stock photo next to it representing Mitsuki. Below them was instructions to capture or kill them both. On the other paper was an above the board directive, hand written, stating:
'The child is of the highest priority, and must be retrieved at all cost. The Elder Dragon and his companion are of little note compared to this. Bring her to the Orange Coast Shelter for further expirementation. -G'
David would try and turn on the radio, but was unable to get anything but static. He would pocket it and crouch, looking at Mitsuki.
"We have to get out of here. They will be back."
He would stare at Mitsuki a long moment before putting his hands on his knees and pushing as he stood, letting out a sigh.
"Besides- we have to use our time wisely if we are gonna get her back."
He looked down at his hands, flexing them.
"You were right to want to save her, and it was cruel of me to try and stop you. But we are gonna fix it."

The words on the page.
She would fold the paper, slipping it into her back pocket.
"It's fine. Tactically, it made the most sense. What now?"

He scratched his head.
"Well, I have no idea where they took her, to be honest. The Man with the scar was probably colonel Mike Stanton, one of Barkers officers. He usually operates in northern California- it's odd to see him down this far..."
He would bend and pick up his bag.
"I suppose we could find a few troops, get some disguises, run the circuit that way. We need to find her quick, though, before they transfer her out of state."

"If you lead, I'll follow."
The lack of expression in her voice and face was probably a hint that she was...not at all...amused by the situation.

David stared at Mitsuki, before giving a frown.
"Are you...alright?"
He knew...what this was likely doing to her and wanted to make sure she was still stable.

"I'm fine."
She looked at David, the corner of her lips twitching into a light smile.
"Let's just get Kira back."
