"All squads, Attention!" 30 people all moved in unison on either side of Jack were his two bodyguards Peter and Conrad. Captain Carson and Captain Francis had their two squads of fourteen lined up in two rows of seven with two body lengths distance between them. Jack was inspecting them as he walked across the face of both rows. This wasn't the army so uniforms didn't have to be perfect but he expected them to be awake and ready for morning drills.
Today they were all carrying backpacks, inside was morning's meal, towels, water and a wooden practice sword. "Captains, move out on my command. Wolf guard on me!" Jack moved out in front of the group.
"Men, soon your training will be finished. Those of you who pass will make it into my beloved Grey Merc Corps. For those who fail, this is not the end. Learn from your mistakes, improve and one day you will be fighting side by side your comrades. For glory, for bounty and for honor. ALL SQUADS MOVE OUT!"
Captain Francis and Captain Carson, screamed at the top of their lungs for their squads to begin to march. Jack's forces were already 12 strong in Invictus he hoped to get at least maybe 10 out of the thirty into his Invictus ranks eventually. However that was a very optimistic outlook as it stood maybe 2 would make it through the rest would be fine as far as mercenaries came. They would make the bulk of his fighting force and maybe one out of every 100 would become something really special.

Mako casually strutted towards the coordinates he had recieved from jack, this looked to be the right place, pretty decent structure and accompanying training grounds. He saw some squads marching off in the distance. Mako couldn't see exact detail but their bearing was pretty well held, it look similar to the armies of old. Mako was looking specifically for Jack, if he was going to recieve training to get stronger Jack would be the one to talk to, so he walked forward torwards the grounds, searching...waiting...

"You sir, state your name and business here!"
A guard said as the column marched out of the gates and across to the training field. The guard was armed with a short sword as he stared at the giant man.

"Mako who? And which Jack there are very many." The guard had draw his blade and pointed it at Mako "Speak quickly stranger"

"Mako, The wanderer. I'm seeking Jack, probably the only badass who can take out 6 guys without breaking a sweat. he's pretty tall and wields a mace and a cleaver."

"Hmm, you must be talking about the commander" the guard turned around to his companion. "Mathew, you watch him while I go talk to the commander." Mathew turned around and walked into the base.
"Commander!" The guard saluted Jack, who was busy discussing with his subordinates. Jack looked up "Yes?".
The guard collected himself and then spoke "There's someone by the name of Mako here to see you sir, he's outside."
Jack nodded "leave us we'll be out in a moment" Jack turned to his two subordinates, his wolf guard "Look what I've just found." Jack and his two wolf guard moved out of the gates and greeted the wanderer.
"Mako Wanderer, welcome. Are you eager to seek the strength of the gods?"

"Well then Mako, come and we shall see what you can accomplish" Jack turned to Conrad "Conrad accompany Mako to the training field and have him introduced to the Captains, Peter go to the barracks and bring us a day pack."
Jack looked up at Mako, "We'll see how serious you are about attaining strength. It is a long road are you prepared to risk everything?"

"Absoluetly" Mako said eagerly ready to follow jack, this is what he had been waiting on, and it was time he worked harder.

Including the thirty Jack had already sent over for morning practice there was Thanatos squad training in the distance with Sanguis squad back at the head quarters resting after having completed a mission the night before. On top of all that there were forty more members training from the intake before the most recent one. "Captains, I have another hopeful. His name's Mako." Jack turned to Mako, "They're doing fitness training so join them and we'll begin your review." The first thing they did every morning was run two laps around the training field. As soon as Jack's command was given, his captains began to scream at all of the recruits to start running. If Mako didn't move instantly he too would be yelled at "COME ON MAGGOT GET A MOVE ON!" Mako had been running on his own for quite some time now so this was nothing new. He started running with the rest keeping the same pace as them.

Jack watched as the large group of thirty one moved around the large field, it took them sometime to complete two laps of the large training field but when they came back they were huffing and puffing. "Partner up practice sword techniques!" As Jack gave the orders the group of thirty split up into two groups of fifteen.
Mako would be grouped with one of the captains and would be taken through basic blocks and strikes when using a short blade. The blade was the same size and weight of a gladius.

Mako would start and let the captain go first as he would watch carefull at what he did. The mako would take his turn attempting to mimmis what the captain did.

[/color] On his command the group moved around and Jack watch on as Mako completed the tasks assigned to him. He had his seniors rotate through to tutor the new recruits one on one. While the other three went around inspecting and correcting forms. Sanguis had finished their bi-morning runs of ten laps of the training field and were ready for their drills. "Two on Three. A mixture of both defensive and offensive techniques. I want constant rotation"They nodded and then progressed to carry out drills at a more faster pace and intensity than these new recruits. Off into the distance the other group were even learning how to tackle and take people to the ground as well as basic ground techniques. Leading the 2nd group was Peter's father an ex green beret who knew the ins and outs of fighting for your life. [/ul] |
