He grunted.
"I'm sure there were safer scenarios we could have set up."
He wouldn't pursue it further, however, having caught the scent of fresh soil and sight of green leaves. His eyes widened in surprise, The Storm Dragon taking a moment or two to appraise them as he started forward. He would run his hands lightly over the leaves, touching the soil softly a moment to admire how rich it was.
Returning to his feet, he brushed his hands off on his pants before turning to Kiyr.
"This is some of the most amazing stuff I have seen. There is little more important- you did all of it yourself? And there are more of these?"

Kiyr stood, slowly, watching David's appraisal of this particular plot. She remained quiet and watchful as he stood, and something in her smiled at the appreciation. It wasn't why she had done it, but the knowledge that it was something astounding and appreciated helped.
"This and the terrace three floors above," She gestured, faintly, above, where she knew the other garden resided with its water tower. "Took seven days. The preparation was my task alone; accomplished with nothing more than tools fashioned from my qi. Beneath the soil and a layer of loosely packed, small stones...is a lattice of grooves to help distribute and move water off the roof so the gardens are not bogged down in case we get heavy rain. There are small holes that work through the walls on the outskirts of the roof to allow for drainage that the grooves travel to. The Earth Dragon moved this soil from the bowls of the Earth; I did not want to use soil close to the top due to...contamination."
She paused.
"The terrace above is the same, with several of the holes allowing water to rain down to this...with a water tower above. There will be more, but I have to gather seeds, compost material, and ensure the buildings the next groves will reside upon are stable. There will be water storage units constructed at the top of those, as well. It took myself and a team of five others the majority of two days to raise the soil - nearly three thousand cubic feet, with its mineral content and earth worms - to this terrace, and the one above. Rope and two small, steel wheels, and my qi."
She spread her hands in a small gesture before lacing her fingers in front of herself.
Penance, punishment...and a thing of love that emerged, at the end.

David wondered at the girls abilities. Of course, he felt her affinity for gather intelligence far greater, at least from a military prospective, but the implications for self sustaining food sources was also invaluable. He gave a tight lipped smile at her.
"This is great, Kiyr. What you started here is going to help us beyond belief." He chewed his lip a moment- she showed him this, not only because he was an Elder but because she trusted him. He would step forward and touch the dirt lightly- it was some of the freshest, healthiest soil he had ever seen. He stood, keeping his hands in his pockets, before looking slowly up at the clear sky. A blast of wind would hit them, but not disrupt her mechanations. His clothes whipped about in the wind- and for the first time, possibly ever, David proved the title. From the north, loud crashing sounds resonated. He closed his eyes- over the city, clouds started rolling in, coming from the hills. Thunder rattled windows- clouds were not used to moving this quickly into warm air, but regardless, a light rain came down and started feeding her plants. Nothing like a hurricane or lightning storm, just a small or light help. The wind died out, David letting out a breath. The weather did not stop.
He seemed exhausted, but pleased.
"I call this *Veor Heita. I can make it far more powerful, at the expense of my energy. But it will do, to help you, I think."
OOC: *Veor Heita - "Storm Call". This is a level 5 ability that allows David to call in storms from far off location. The ability takes time to manifest, and vastly drains him, even at full health. All physical stats are reduced by 1/4 for five posts.

The tight-lipped smile caught and threw her off a little. This hadn't been something even the Elders had thought of. And for one of the strongest gangs, the Dragons could not survive and thrive on rations for long. Even these two terraces would not be large enough to feed everyone, but it was a start. But she didn't vocalize it, instead watching him cautiously, and almost protectively as he touched the dirt again.
Bright blue eyes watched, cautious and yet, willing to wait.
She remained where she was crouched as he stood again, looking upwards into the night. The sudden blast of wind was completely unexpected. The surprise was coupled with a moment of irrational fear, but that quickly died away. Curiosity took its place, even as she spread a blanket of shadow to protect the soil on this level from being carried away by the wind. Her eyes were sharp and focused as she reacted on a hugely protective instinct. She was not a mother, and wouldn't be for several years to come, but how she reacted was the same as a mother protecting her children. Her hair was lifted and danced to the wind's whims, and a shiver flickered its way down her back. Kyrie, because of her attention to detail, noted that even the soil along the far reaches of the roof did not stir. Her heart slowed and her qi dissipated into streams of shadow that melded with the dark, allowing David to handle the wind and trusting he would not rip the soil from the roof.
The distant rumbling crashes drew her attention.
It took a while, but she could see the way the clouds grew and shifted. And all around her she could sense the wind. Not just feel but sense it in the night. It was the same effect as earlier. Something had definitely changed about David's qi. And as Kiyr's form flickered amongst the onslaught of qi that swirled around and extended out towards the North, the potentials slowly became clear. David's qi could not shift the darkness itself, and she was not so powerful yet to be able to feel the air currents through the night. His qi had been tinged, changed.
A hint of darkness, but not malevolence.
She stood, but held the qi barrier until the clouds were situated overhead and the first drops of rain began to fall.
"..rain..." Came the soft murmur the plants and soil received the moisture David provided. She held her hands up, face tilting upwards, and let the rain pitter-patter against her skin. Home. She breathed slowly and deeply, inhaling the fresh scent of rain, lips just beginning to twitch into a soft, tiny smile. Her hair settled, disheveled, but without much heed even as the rain began to dampen the strands and her clothes. For a moment, she leaned up, rising on the tips of her toes before she settled and looked over at David.
Her fingers spread, releasing the drops of rain she had caught to the soil below. It was amazing.
Yet she didn't say so.
"Thank you."
Kyrie didn't need to verbalize it when the gratitude and accents of awe coloured her tone. His extra reward? A genuine smile, but soft. It lingered before she looked higher, to the level above.
"Come to the top..?"
Moving ponderously passed David, she approached the side of the building, palm up before she grasped at the filaments of shadow that coiled around her wrist and reached upwards. Akin to and yet polar opposite from a plant stretching to reach the sun, Kyrie's qi stretched up through the darkness and rain to grasp and hook into the ledge three stories above. She wanted to go up for several reasons.
As the blonde's hand closed around the tangible shadow, and as it swirled down over her arm, she began to rise, simply dangling from the end as she reeled herself upwards. The shadow that held her, or that she held, shrank. She wasn't afraid it would snap. It was night, after all, and the boxes of dirt she helped to haul up with nothing more than her qi had been heavier than her weight. She didn't press her legs against the side of the building. Her feet and the surface itself would be too slick.
She turned as the tether pulled her further up, collapsing in on itself to strengthen and fortify. It allowed her to look; David would either be above, beside, or perhaps below if he chose to remain there. She was in no hurry, but did not move slowly, either. For a moment as she closed her eyes, she simply was within the soft storm, dangling by her own lifeline. She twisted right side around as she came to the top and pushed off the side of the building, finally, manipulating the shadows to give her stability and security so she could pull herself up and sit for a moment, giving in to the urge to tip her face up into the rain once again.

David watched her, nodding as she asked him to the top. He flew up, following after her at the same pace she moved. When she sat on the edge, he joined her, planting himself and taking some rain in his hands to splash on his face. He loved being able to do things like this- while most would feel a God, with the power to control the heavens, David loved being a part of the sky, to share in it.
He would look over at Kiyr, as she tilted her head back, watching her calmly with soaked clothes. She was, despite being an underling, very beautiful, and held a kind of mystery about her. Maybe it was the difficulty of gaining her trust, but...
He blushed just a little, turning away to enjoy the rain himself. He would lay, flat on his back, the air holding him up. He let out a sigh, content to feel the droplets tingle his skin. He waited a few moments before-
"Kiyr- do you have someone? Like... A fella. Boyfriend. Girlfriend. Whatever your preference- anyone your interested in?"
Hey- he never actually asked her and didn't want to seem insensitive, after all.

It was a slice of home. Not here in Long Beach, but back, higher along the West Coast. Seattle. That was home, though this place certainly wasn't bad. She missed the weather she'd grown up with, though she loved the sun as well. There was nothing like the smell and feel of rain, or the fresh feeling of a world renewed after. Though she was aware of David nearby, she didn't pay him much mind, preferring to let herself relax a little and enjoy the cleansing rain.
David's question prompted her to open her eyes and blink rapidly as drops of rain fell into them. She flinched - mostly because of that, she insisted - and frowned a little. Her moments of peace seemed to be at an end with the question being of a more personal nature, and her eyes flickered, lips pressing together into a faint line. She shook her head slightly, which could have been a refusal to answer or an answer in itself, though to what she was answering she didn't say if that was the case.
But really, Kyrie wasn't sure she wanted to breach lines; it was easier to simply look up to those she considered family. Keeping them close but holding herself away. Personal thoughts and explanations weren't easily revealed. While David was one of three she felt and held closest to her heart, the blonde wasn't quite ready to make that leap of faith.
She carefully twisted on the ledge and set her feet against the dampening soil to move towards the small but now-reinforced "tower" that collected water, tilting her head to the side to catch the sound of the rainwater dripping inside, echoing with a slight resonance within the metal container.

David felt her shake her head before turning onto his side, watching her move.
"Your not even interested in anyone? I find that hard to believe...c'mon, you can tell me."

Kyrie glanced back at David, just glancing at him from over her shoulder. The reason she hadn't verbalized anything was so that she could perhaps gather her thoughts, as she correctly figured he would press the issue. Her gaze questioned his statement.
She tapped the metal, tipping back towards the container to listen for the slight change in pitch that would let her know where the water level was sitting. Her gaze didn't leave him.
"It is not that I have no interest in any one person, but that there is nothing concrete. There is simply the potential for the future."
By her tone, at the very least, she was okay with simple potential. Something that gave her even a little hope. Being that she was a generally intensely private individual, it should be unsurprising, by this point, that the blonde made no mention of names.

He smiled.
"Interest and potential can be the same... but I get it. Does he... or they- see the same potential, you think?"
He had to admit, he was a little jealous of Levi, but he also remembered the other person in the dream. He just wanted to know what Kiyr thought about it.

Kiyr's head twitched slightly as her finger tapped against the place that let out a different pitch. She reached up, pulling a small lever that extended the makeshift eaves so more rainwater could be caught. The blonde crouched carefully, brushing her fingertips over the young plants and plucking an errant weed, crushing it in her hand.
She glanced up at the almost hesitant question.
"I suppose one does." So long as she wasn't misreading, and her intuition wasn't wrong. "Anyone else, however, I could not say. It is entirely possible that the potential is seen. However, I can no more read minds than I can turn time back, so, I suppose it will remain a mystery."
Certainly there was potential, that others saw some interest in her, but she wouldn't say the only other person that drew her attention. While Kyrie believed the corny little "There are plenty of other fish in the sea", even with the world's population having taken a massive hit, she wasn't entirely sure she would apply to that rule. Besides, the fact she had a habit of holding herself back was only part of her refusal to say a name. The blue-eyed lady knew that there was at least one or two others with either a lingering interest, or one that was much more fresh and new. She stood, brushing the back of her hand against her temple so she didn't get any trace of mud that still clung to her fingers mixed into her hair.

David said nothing for a few moments, looking away as Kiyr tended to try and shy away from the topic. He would let her, simply nodding and standing up to walk over and admire the work at the top of the building, still cooled by the air around them.
"Alright. I hope it goes well. As for these- how many more do you plan to make?"

Kyrie tipped her face up to the rain once again as David meandered away. She was wet now, of course, but it didn't matter. It was warm with David still here. Even had he not been, she would have been okay with the cool chill of night along with the rain.
Giving in to an urge she felt gnawing at her since David first pulled the rain in to help bring more life to the plants that rose from the seeds she'd sown. Clear in the small aisle and aware of the space she had, she swept forwards in a step and turned on the ball of her foot, the other trailing slightly. The moist dirt had enough give that she spun readily. Her arms lifted, helping with the spin before they were brought in close--almost an embrace to the air or an imaginary dance partner. Another step with her knees bent as she came out of the whirl, the foot she had just spun on flicking up behind her before touching down, allowing her to pivot lightly again, arms swinging outwards for balance. With the pivot her legs crossed, and the foot she set down first moved, lightly dragging the toes of her shoes against the earth, one hand lifting slightly higher, though outward, and then lowered slowly. " Six more, to start, at the very least." She answered, standing normally aside from lifting her hands to catch more of the droplets of water. The rain cleansed and allowed for another unguarded moment, quietly carefree. She opened her eyes and looked towards David again, brushing her fingers lightly against the wet strands of her hair, thoughtful. " The buildings need to be structurally sound and easily defensible before I start the preliminary work, even."
