OOC: Bloop... and the writer's block continues!

He laughed. "See." He said as if that explained something. Perhaps it didn't, but with the tone Aris used it was almost an 'I told you so'. And then he turned to the moon and leaned back so he was on his back. "And despite what you think, Ish is most definitely a word." He said with a light smile. "For instance... Ish this the moon?"

He was still smiling lightly as he continued his lecture of how ish was a word. "Or if you want it as an adjective. You're eyes are brownish. See here it is used as a suffex!" He said, not taking his eyes off the starry sky. He was having fun trying to prove that ish was a word. It was what he liked to do.

But as for her question, it seemed that he had just left it unanswered. Maybe he had forgotten it, or maybe he just didn't wish to say it. Either way it seemed not to bother the boy as the ocean air flew over him. It seemed he was more interested in the moon than the ground.

"Ish is most certainly not a word..."

She retorted, trying to hold back the laughter in her voice. That was the most obsured statement she had ever heard. Ish this the moon? . Hardly. She picked up a handful of sand and watched it slip through her porcelain fingers, like sand in an hour glass. She was slightly confused that having brown eyes qualified her to be childish, or...what was he getting at? None of his comments seemed to fall into place.

"There you go with that 'ish' again. My eyes are brown...that is, if that was the adjective you were leaning for, or were you just making a point?"

Aris grinned at her. "Both!" He said proudly as if he was asserting his knowledge of the word 'Ish'. "If you didn't know that Ish was a word, you simply need more tutalage(SP?)" He stated as if it were complete and undeniable fact. He was mostly joking, but who knew with Aris. He didn't usually make sense so why would now be any different?

"I will bet you ten shiny pennies that Ish is too a word." He said confidently and he stuck out his hand for her to shake. He was quite happy with himself. Aris was fully confident in his ability to get ten shiny pennies out of her. And ten shiny pennies are all you need to keep happy.

"..."

This boy confused her. Trying to figure out his logic was beginning to give her a headache. So she chose to just agree...that is, until he met her with a bet for...ten shiny pennies? How weird. But she was sure she could win anyway. She grinned, extending her own delicate hand and placing it in his outstretched one, shaking firmly.

"Fine, you've got yourself a bet. If the word 'ish' is not in the dictionary, which is a compilation of all commonly used words in the English language, then you give me ten shiny pennies.."

"No no no." Aris said with a smile. He was beginning to count the amount of shiny pennies he would have after this. The more coins to flip the more chance it would land on heads. He grinned mischeviously. "You just stated that the dictionary was all the Commonly used words in the English language." Aris stressed the word commonly.

"So instead I wish to recite for you the definition of word." He cleared his throat and began to recite the definition. "If I remember correctly the exact definition of word is, and I quote, something that is said." He was still smiling evilly. "Therefore if I were to simply say the word... Ish then it would become a word." He smiled and held out his hand in a small cup form. "My shiny pennies please."

Chi laughed, really hard. So much it made her stomach hurt, and she hugged her arms around her stomach to stop it. And she still laughed. Once the laughter subsided, she wiped a solitary tear from her eye.

"Y-you..hehe..you think that proves your..hehe.. case? No way. No. Way. Sure, a word is something you say, but it is also something that symbolizes and communicates a meaning...which in lamens terms means that people understand you. And I highly doubt that if you walked around shouting 'ish,' no matter how many times or ways you say it, people aren't going to understand you. So I win."

She said, holding out her own hand in a cup-like fashion, a determined smirk on her face.

"That's not true. Are you saying that if I were to say." He paused as he cleared his throat and began to attempt to prove his point,
"Ish that the moon?" He said in as he pointed at the moon then he turned back to her and grinned, "Are you saying that you would not understand me? Because I would understand someone if they said that."

He grinned holding back the laughter until shiny pennies would exchange hands. "So mmmm!" He said as he stuck out his tongue at her in a childish fashion. He was mostly doing it to make her laugh, but he was a child at heart so the tongue sticking was well justified.

"Put in that context would make sense because you are pointing to the moon and it is complimented with the word 'that.' But 'ish' in itself is not a word, you were simply using it as a substitution."

She said, leaning back on her hands in a comfortable slouch again. She was going to win this verbal battle if it killed her. It wasn't like 10 pennies was much to lose, but it was the principle of the thing that made her so determined to win. Otherwise, it would be an insult to her intelligence.

Aris smiled at her, now he would win, now he had something he was sure could not be beat. Of course he was also sure about all his other points, so he wasn't sure how this was going to work. "Well our bet was if Ish was a word. What if it is a word in another language. And considering you do not know all the languages I say that it is a word. And you can't fight that because you don't know what language I am talking about." He pointed out with a satisfied smirk.

No way Aris was losing those pennies. No way. "How about this, I'll offer you a deal. If you admit defeat I will give you five shiny pennies!" He said as if it was a giant act of charity.

"No. You can't pull that one. You can only call the Foriegn language trump if you can PROVE it's a word in another language. So, Hah!"

She jabbed her finger at the air between them, grinning. She was really getting into this debate. And it was over a nonexistant word. Who would have figured? She ignored his ply for 5 shiny pennies if she admitted defeat. She didn't bend to bribes, quite the opposite actually. Now she was more than determined to win.

"I see, you won't take my offer of mercy." He cleared his throat. "Well I will have you know that I am extremely fluent in Mexican." Aris said proudly. The truth was he had almsot failed that class in middle schoo. He couldn't speak a word of Spanish to save his life. Except Hola, he knew Hola and he knew Como esta. Which meant 'Hello, How are you?'. So he wasn't too worried about fooling her.

"And that CLEARLY means that I win! I always knew that someday my fluency in Mexican would win me something. And now look, I get ten shiny pennies." He said with a grin sticking out his cupped hand more determinedly.

Chi gave him an 'are you kidding me?' look. This boy clearly had no idea what he was talking about.

"Quieres dame centavos brillantes ahora? No creo que puedes hablar espanol..porque la idioma se llama 'espanol,' no 'mexicana.' No estas convincente."

She replied with a smirk, calling his bluff. She looked at his outstretched hand then at his face. 'Yeah right.' She thought, her smirk widening, she had this debate in the bag.

OOC: I knew I shoulda picked French first.

Aris looked at her blankly. He was secretly wondering whether she was bluffing or not. But all the words sounded very spanishish. Yes he had just thought the word spanishish. "Okay so you are fluent in Spanishish...." He paused thinking harder now.

"But umm.... I accidently said Spanish. I meant French... sorry I get those confused sometimes." He said with an innocent grin. Okay he was sort of cheating, but it wasn't his fault if she couldn't speak French.... hopefully she couldn't speak French.

((ooc: aw, damn, you caught me there. I only know a few random phrases in French, and I probably couldn't even come close to spelling them..>.>))

"Okay, so you're fluent in Spanishish.."

Chi had to take a double take. Did he seriously just say Spanishish? Maybe this guy has an 'ish' fetish, since, well, they were debating the topic for pennies. But he was right on one point, she was pretty fluent, not perfect, but fluent enough to know he didn't know a lick of the language. And the fact that he was changing his claim proved this. She might be taking a wild guess, but she didn't think he knew much French either. She straightened her bac, crossing her arms over he chest and giving him a 'okay, yeah, sure' kind of look.

"Alright, then amaze me with your French prowess, because I'm afraid you'll find me quite doubtful about that."

OOC: Same. But I do know Sacre Bleu... ISH!

Aris had a delighted and extremely smug smirk on his face. He was proud on one part. He did know how to say one phrase in French. He had seen it on a T.V. Show when he was little. "What you don't believe me?" He asked in an incredulous tone. He did not know the phrase quite well.

He had heard it about one time and only remembered the vocal sounds.... sort of. But he was in no position to hesitate. He made a throat clearing noise and then said. "Sacway Bwuuu." He said in a clearly overexaggerated French accent. But of course he had forgotten to say the word 'Ish'. After the first few seconds he finally noticed that he had not said it and he quickly added, "Bwuuu-Ish."
