Jin is based in a Dark Ages kind of medieval world. Man kind has been pushed back in population down to a few hundred. A single city stands as a symbol of hope... For the rich.
One Thousand years ago the moon turned a sapphire blue and monsters rose from the wilds destroying the old civilizations and since then every twenty one years the moon has turned blue. The many scattered villages have built their own walls against the common monsters, but can not hope to stand against the marched power during the Blue Moon. Thus the villages abandon their homes and take refuge within the walls of the city. The city imperial guard defend the walls the entire night and has since the oldest can remember.
The down side is life outside of the city is hard and dangerous. The only game to hunt is the giant mutated monsters that have roamed the land for one thousand years. Hunters are revered and the leader of the hunters is usually the leader of the village. Villages must hunt to trade both what they farm inside the village and the game they get to the city, for the city is the only way to get clean drinkable water.
Should your village not trade for the water they will not be allowed entry into the city on the blue moon and will be left to defend itself.
Only nobles and servants of those nobles are allowed to live in the deepest most protected part of the city. The outer most walls are a kind of slum where the imperial guards and their families live.
A side effect of the blue moon has been only in the last few years. Certain humans have developed a kind of power, an elemental force they can control. Not very strong, but enough to be of help protecting, helping, or hunting for the villages. Be it fire balls, lightning bolts, shadow blades, or even healing water. very basic of abilities.
Known Villages:
Terrac: Is a small town hidden with steep mountains to its back and sides. A natural defense. Small normal crops and an even smaller hunting team.
Nohl: Is a small village which sits close to Marster City with thick trees being cut into the walls surrounding the village. They are the largest and most prosperous village, but the danger from the near by forest is their problem.
Filam: Is near a large lake which acts like a mote for the forest and canyon ranges near by, though the lake itself has monsters lurking under the water they have less fear of being attacked, but aren't that prosperous and the population is dangerously low and hungry.
