Final Mission: 1 Billion A.D.
Earth is dying.
The natural world is no longer a place that the human race can survive. Building giant domed cities, the rest of the human populace left on Earth are protected from the radiation, pollutants, and horrible animals. Inside these cities, the people have everything they need. Synthetic bio-generation farms, Hydrogen processors, a stable temperature-controlled environment, strict diets and exercise regimens to prevent disease and defect. They are genetically modified to be perfect. The perfect human specimens, engineered for the last task the human race was charged with.
The last ships for the Andromeda cluster left 500,000 years ago. With them, all hope of Earth surviving left. Humans now thrive on more than fifty worlds, included and recognized in the United Dominion of Peryin. Earth is old, and dying. Not a place for such a fragile race. Even the other terraformed planets in the system were deemed unfit. The sun grew, red and bold, into a giant. Rumours and lore say that there used to be a planet called Mercury, but it has been swallowed by the swelling red giant.
Now, a small colony of humans, who were charged with training the future of mankind, are stranded on the planet they used to call home. Reservists, they were officially called. Soldier colonies whose mission was to wait for orders while constantly preparing the future generation to take their place.
How do they train? Easy. Killing the grotesque monsters that try to destroy their homes. Animals that, over the countless years without human interference, have perfected the evolutionary process to become the perfect predators: Engels.
They vary in size and shape from one to another, but mostly, Engels stand anywhere from 20 to 30 feet in height, are quadrupedal, and look like a mixture of a large furry mammal from the contemporary period, and an armoured dinosaur from the cretaceous period. They are sometimes territorial, sometimes nomadic, and some species can be quite docile. For the most part though, they are killers.
Humans are different than they were once thought of being. The genus homo sapiens sapiens is a thing of the past. Humans are now a mixture of biological tissues and organic machines. From fertilization, proto-children are genetically engineered to be tall and lean, with muscles that stretch off their skin, and are incredibly powerful. They rarely need sleep, only about an hour a night, and they live for over 250 years, reaching adulthood at age 8 and middle age around 170. Parents can choose one of two presets: Feather or Stone, depending on what the child would grow up to do.
Feathers are incredibly light (only weighing in at about 10 kilograms), and are agile and swift. They are modified to have strong leg muscles for fast running and prolonged sprints, lasting 7 days straight at an average speed of 80 kilometers and hour. Their expertise lies in stealth, awareness and the use of their minds to manipulate entropic forces.
Stones are heavy (About 300 kilograms), and their combat skills are unmatched. There's nothing that they can't kill in hand-to-hand combat, and their augmented bodies make them impervious to pain. Being able to lift up to 20 times their body weight without being crushed, they are incredibly strong. Their expertise lies in head-on combat, with any weapon that is available.
Weapons are different, too. Bullets are only mentioned in history books, now that there are stable plasma weapons. Modeled after ancient weapons, plasma technology can make whatever you desire for optimal combat. From pistols to rifles to swords to arrows to pretty much anything you can think of.
Entropy is a force described by some as the 'chaos in physical systems'. It is, indeed, the force that made the improbability drive possible, and control over such a force is possible with the Deus in Machina implant, included in the Feather package. To control entropy is to manipulate the probability in each system to create desired effects. Want to have a fireball randomly appear two inches above your hand and float there? What are the odds of that happening?
As for how humans look, a very homogeneous culture has been developed. Skin tone is a light tan, eyes are either bright, almost chemical green (for Stones), or black with red lining (for Feathers). Height is 3 metres tall for the males, and 2.7 metres for the females. Of course, every now and then there are exceptions. The only individuality in this culture comes from body modification. Technological implants, tattoos, luminescent bloodstreams, etc.
{Characters will partake in missions, hopefully. Depends a lot if people are even interested. Basically a way to let out your cyberpunk afterfuture combat muse out. If you are interested, pm me or make a character. For now this is all I've got in me, but I can explain a lot more over pm.}
