"I know... I just... Want to make sure it's the right thing to do before I do it."
"Well, I understand. I know only what I have told you. The rest... Will be sorted in time.
He nodded, before taking a drink of water and getting up from the bar stool. He would turn to look at her and speak again, only to find her seat empty. He stared for a moment or two longer before stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets and walking out the front door, a warm wind brushing back his hair.
He turned left and started walking, keeping an eye on some of the Gods guards that were around. Not that he didn't trust them- he did. He just liked to know the going ons.

Bastille lept up and grabbed hold of the old door sign and curled herself up and swung upwards, flipping into the air and back down. Out of her eye she caught a figure and quickly curled herself tightly and tumbled to the ground, using her elbow as a brace and safely rolling to the side. She slid up into a crouch and then sighed when she noticed who it was that had thrown her off. Her eyes narrowed and she stood up immediately brushing herself off.
"Of fucking course it would bloody be you wouldn' it? Distracted sod, do you get off on messing up my work outs?" Bastille said glowering. She didn't like being surprised- that much was obvious. Luckily her tone sounded more like a reprimand than a shou- complete with British Accent.

David stopped as Bastille shouted, turning to look at her a little distractedly. He would ease into a smile, however, as she seemed to try her best to glare at him.
"Nah, I just love it when you get all angry when I'm around. It's so cute."
He would take off walking, turning around so he could walk backward and keep his eye on the she-devil.
"But if your looking for a workout, I could always knock you around a bit. Highlights of my week, you could say."
He knew she would likely never admit to the conversation they had, but he still enjoyed teasing her- especially about his now total lack of regard for her fear mongering. He was now one of the few who took her desire to kill him, her anger, her hatred- for that of a setup. To cover up how she felt. Oh, he knew she probably hated him now, or was pissed, or truly planned to kill him- but after that talk, he now knew why.
So, whenever she got mad at him, he would toss it back in her face with a smile and a wink.

Bastille did something odd at that point, crossing her arms and huffing out a sigh.
"you'd enjoy that too much. I hid a lunch for when I finished my route.....might as well harass you while I'm at it." She said turning and shaking a hand up in the air to wave him after her. She only smirked over her shoulder and winked,....very odd. Could it be she planned this?
But that would not be known as she walked on, only pausing a moment to see if he was following, her expression returning to its usual bored one.

David cocked an eyebrow.
She was becoming too much like Amtrum. He didn't like it.
He would humor her, though.
Floating into the air and onto his back, he would glide up beside her, looking up at the sky as he hovered along, pondering for a moment. He would speak as they trailed.
"Where, exactly, are we headed?"

"The building in Dragon Territory with the odd little Korean logo on it...I stash my lunches there because no one goes in there and it marks 10 miles exactly." She said softly, walking with her arms crossed. Her hair was up in a pony tail, and suddenly it was something she wanted to fix so she let down her hair and the three tiny braided strands, longer than the rest of her hair tumbled down her back. She would enter the building when they found it and went rummaging through the old boxes there- careful not to disturb the authentic dust build up. She then pulled out two brown paper sacks and throw one to him.
"I want to talk"

David stared after catching the sack lunch, before laughing aloud.
"Just talk? Bastille, I don't think I can remember a time when you just wanted to talk. But i'll humor you. What is it we are planning to talk about?"

"Our little chat....can I ask why you were so curious about Mathews decision to invite Barker to the Wedding?"
She said bluntly, opening her sack to find the apple there.

His smile faded, before he stepped forward to make sure she stared into his eyes. Then he responded just as bluntly.
"Because I'm trying to figure out whether you and Mathew care more about power and grand displays of arrogance than you do about anything else. And I'm also wondering if the Earth Dragon spoke to him, and if so, what about? I'm sure you didn't invite him just to poke the bear."
Welp, ask a straight question, get a straight answer.

Bastille blinked and then mouthed an 'oh'. She shrugged and nodded.
"Well thanks for that then" She said taking a bite of the apple and munching on it. She then pointed to his bag.
"Peanut butter and banana....hope you're not allergic" She said before sitting down and clearing her throat.
"Next time use smaller words.....If you really want to know, yes Mathew spoke to him- no I have no freaking clue what about because frankly I make it a point not to get too close to fanboys who send me fanmail. " She meant Barker.
"And what I meant with what I said is, Barker knows I care about my kids and family...there is no need to hide that, or hide the fact that I fear being stuck with needles and having my qi practically blow me up again. So why NOT invite him? Unlike most, out of sight out of mind is not what we are going for. We want to keep him in mind, keep him in check. Seeing him, in an odd way, brought comfort to me....i took measures to protect my kids...." She said shrugging breaking only to point at his bag again "seriously, those are good bananas" and then she continued quickly. "But at the end of the day, I encouraged Mathew to invite him because I dont care. I dont care about Barker, about this stupid bloody war...I'm only in California because thats where my husband is...otherwise I would be were I had made my home. This knights done fighting wars....I said fuck it and went home. I'll fight if I need too, but I'm not looking for trouble....."
She took another bite and stared at him and his bag.
"No but really, just thought I'd clear that up....unlike dimwit I realize my logic confuses most people....though you'd have to ask him his reasons, doubt they're the same as mine."

"you going to eat that? I know I suck at cooking but really..."

He tilted his head a little.
"Sorry, didn't realize 'arrogance' was large word. I'll try to watch out for that."
He listened to her speak, but in the end David shook his head slowly.
"Do either you or him honestly think he doesn't give a damn about us? The rebels, the Dragons, your family? Lets rewind the clock back. The world was turning, just like normal. Obama was running for re-election. Everything was A-OK. Then a relative nobody outside of California blew everything up, invaded every country on earth and now rules it all. I don't believe, for a second, that Barker has overlooked anyone. But I do think he sees it like matt. Like it's nothing more than a game. And that's how you treat it when you pretend not to care what Barker does or sees or is. It plays to his strengths."
So, mathew met with him. And he hadn't talked to anyone about it. At least, he hadn't talked to him. He drew out an apple and took a bite.
"Knowing matt met with him and didn't tell anyone brings me to my other thought- that the earth dragon may be willing to conspire with barker for self advancement."
Uh huh. He said it. Without a thought.

Bastille smirked, obviously intrigued by Davids announcement and perhaps even worry.
"What do you think he would have to benefit from that relationship?" Bastille said, pushing him to continue.

David stared at her for a long period of time, chewing a bit, looking off a moment, then taking another bite.
"I don't know mathews goals. His endgame. So I couldn't tell you. But I do know this- he manipulates, twists, and designs everything so that, in the end, he will be on top. He always has. He likes things his way, whatever the cost. Barker is the most powerful man in the world. He could offer the Earth Dragon anything. For instance- if he ever did anything that would cause me to turn against him- not that I would, but just for the sake of argument- who is to say Barker wouldn't come to mathews aid if he calls. Perhaps mathew wants nothing, except a way in. Again though-""
He took a deep breath.
"I don't know his endgame."

Bastille listened with an understanding expression and nodded. "highly possible, .....and perhaps even probable." She said shrugging.
"I guess, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it..." She got up and went to fetch her hidden drink of bottled water.
"Are you wondering If I'll follow his decision to side with Barker?" She would never in her dreams side with Barker or follow Mathew unto that point. She had told Mathew that she was not beneath taking the kids and running, in a joke- but she had meant it should his plans get out of hand. But all she could remember was that one night a long time ago while she was pregnant....him simply saying they should run away from all of this. It had shocked her, but it had also given her confidence that Barker was not exponentially involved in the endgame.

He looked away.
"I didn't think you would. Then again, I also didn't think you would marry someone like Mathew either."
He would stare off for a few moments before looking back to her.
"I can't imagine Mathew would do something like that. It seems unreal. The worst part is, I doubt Leon would give a damn- he's far closer to Mathew than myself, so i'm sure he'd simply follow suit."
He clasped his hands behind his back.
"I won't go along with it."
