The man turned to walk across the room.
"No matter how you put it, an ideal is simply an ideal. There is no reason to believe it. And I don't say this to discredit you or Ms. Black, but to show what my men will think. Why they will think it. If you want to gain support, you must prove that we can trust you, that your not simply trying to use us for personal gain."
He turned to look at her.
"There are two tests you must pass. First- a display of loyalty and strength. There is a man, named Geoff meinrich. He's a commander in Barkers unit, and holds a firm position in the north end of the city. My men have been unable to kill him. Take him out and the second test will be one to display your trustworthiness and honor- it will also be simpler. Pass them both, and we will see about signing on."
He would walk toward her, stopping a few feet away.
"Do you agree to do this for us?"

No- she understood. He would be a fool to think any different; anyone in his position required it. She knew from how he was holding himself that he didn't mean any disrespect- but out of respect for Delilah did Mitsuki demand it from him, just as any 'soldier' under the Commander's reign would. Maybe with more class than with how Mitsuki did.
As for the 'tests' he gave out... If she were more comfortable with showing her emotions externally, she would have frowned. Because she was known to appear as a stoic woman, she merely held eye contact, listened...
Both tasks in itself didn't altogether appear to be a problem...but there was no detail provided. She would be comfortable without knowing the second task because of the category it was listed under, but the first one...breaking into Barker's hold and taking him out would require careful planning and time. She was part of a team back in Chicago that worked specifically on breaking and entering to acquire information in Barker's territory, but from what she noticed in California and the differences between the level and type of security, she knew she wouldn't be able to totally rely on past experiences.
"...will I get more information on the first test?"
Such as a time frame, if she's allowed to work with others, what kind of man he is, etc. Or, if he had the time, would she have to work from the ground up?

He nodded.
"Of course. Ask whatever you like, I'll answer what I know. I'd suggest going alone or bringing one other, as any more would attract way too much attention."
He would pull from his back pocket a map, folded up, and hand it to her.
"It has his base outlined, as we've at least gotten that much. But the only thing we know is, he's strong. Everyone we've sent to kill him hasn't come back, so we gave up."

The only thing they knew was his strength? That wasn't much to work with.
"So you know he exists, and that he's strong?"
...and no one else that went after him returned? Either they were a combination of weak and stupid or this guy really was strong..mentally and intellectually.
"I'm going to assume that you're giving me this task thinking I'll complete it."
In other words, he better damn well believe she was going to pass this test with flying colors because there hasn't been a test - yet - that she had failed, written or otherwise. She wasn't going to go into a suicidal mission, and she didn't think he had the heart to send her out on one, either. Her eyes scanned the paper, taking in the outline of the base, generally having it memorized within seconds. The more complex detail, she would have to take a closer look.
"Is there a time frame you want this done? And where on this map have your men tried breaking and entering?"

He shrugged.
"We have his description, his habits. All written in a folder we will give you. Just how strong he is and the exact specifics of the interior of his base elude us. Again, we've only gotten in when trying to kill him."
He watched her a moment, shaking his head at her question.
"No time frame- whenever you can, we'll know when he's dead. And my men have entered through sewage piping, as well as rappelling over the gates. Getting in the front door just didn't seem prudent."

"When will I get the folder?"
She was eager to get this done- but...she would do more than what was asked for. Not because she wanted to show him that it could be done, but because it would prove to be extremely helpful to any sort of fight against Barker in the Texan region for future endeavors.

He gestured at the door.
"As soon as you leave this room. Just let one of my men know when it's done, we'll be here when you get back. They will let me know and i'll come up to see you."
If she left, a soldier would be outside, and would hand her the folder, which was thick and full.

"How will I know who your men are?"
With them being so low-key and all.
Still, she would walk out her hotel door and grab the folder from the soldier standing outside. She nodded in thanks before going back in, setting it down on the table and poring through its contents while simultaneously listening for his answer.

He watched her as she sat down, cocking an eyebrow.
"They will look the same, and be waiting outside your door. Shouldn't miss them."
He would let out a breath.
"I should be going now, however. There is a lot to do. Please, let my men know if you have any questions, as I assume your taking the mission."
And unless obstructed, would walk out.

"See you soon."She would chirp in right before he left, before turning to look at David. There was a frown on her face, displeased with how things were unfolding. First of all, she didn't like the idea of his men being placed outside her door...at any time. It made her feel uncomfortable because they were simply people she didn't know, yet probably had the ability to break and enter quietly without ruffling anything out of place regardless of their presence in the building. Second of all, she didn't like how it seemed he was pushing work onto her (and David, if he was going to tag along) because his men weren't adequate enough to complete it themselves. This 'project' where in the past all of his men had failed and haven't returned, Mitsuki even agreeing to complete the task should have been a show of honor, and completing it, trustworthiness. But whatever- she was working on behalf of his standards, not hers. She turned back toward the papers. ________________________ CASE FILE 0283 Name: Geoff Meinrich DoB: N/A Age: Early 30s Ethnicity: German Height: 6'4" Weight: 210 lbs.
... ... ... ...And the list would continue. He didn't have very many defining marks listed other than the typical blonde hair, blue eyes...and a scar below his left eye, apparently the length of a bobby pin. Random stuff they had also acquired, too, but no picture...? Like his love for donuts and strong dislike toward creepy children. "Do you want to join me? Or should I take this alone?" It was a genuine question of his interest. She was giving him the option of either aiding her, or letting her do take this on herself.

David folded his arms.
"Trying to get rid of me so soon? Nice try... I wouldn't miss this freak show for the world."
He grinned. In truth, he meant most of it as a joke, but he also didn't plan on letting her go alone. Not that he didn't think she could handle it, but he was sure they would be watched, and as her bodyguard, needed to let them see he would follow her into fire. Walking around the table, he would look over her shoulder at the file and sigh.
"So much for a swim... when do you want to get started?"

...she might've cracked a grin as well if she weren't so displeased with how the man operated; no, not his reason for testing her, but for several other reasons. What his purpose was for having her to explain herself, only to have him haphazardly and selectively hear things; why Mitsuki had to pry him for tests, instead of him laying it on the table toward the beginning of their meeting; and their differences behind 'ideals'. She knew that this was a man she would be butting heads with in the future.
Technically, they didn't need "support" from him or his men- Mitsuki had already caught the attention of two other gangs whose presence were more prevalent amongst the people in Texas.
...and also, this man never proved that he was commander of anything. Just because he had a couple men working beneath him; just because he says he's Commander in Chief. He had to go through a process of validating her and David before even approaching them, saying how word of mouth just wasn't the safest bet anymore but he went ahead and did the same thing...? To them, no less?
She stared down at the documents, having a bad gut feeling both about this man and about this mission. Perhaps she was just thinking too much, but she'd rather think more than too little.
She peered down at the map before pointing-
"This is the general area where Meinrich's office is assumed to be. Probably can't take sewage or gates; after his men failed, I'm going to assume they upped the security..."
She tapped her finger against the map.
"Maybe we should take the front door."
A joke.
...or...was it?

David cocked an eyebrow at her before scratching his head.
"Well...It's unexpected. But if we try and go in, guns blazing, we'll have an army to deal with. I suppose we could try what we did with Kira...but they probably have some tighter form of identification, unless you have another idea there."
He would gesture at the walls surrounding the place.
"What if we fly up and come in from the top?"

"...I was just thinking about going in asking for his audience."
...rather than guns blazing. It would certainly be an interesting way to meet the man...but David's idea was much safer- though, she knew he was purposely not using his Qi since they've arrived.
"Flying in is a safer option."
She stared down at the map. If she and David split up once inside, it would probably be a hell of a lot faster to track down this Meinrich guy. It was unfortunate that they didn't have walkie talkies or some sort of means of communication.
Hnnh. And what would the commander want for proof of his death? Bah.
"Do you want to split once we get inside, or do you think we should stick together?"

He would tilt his head a little as she suggested asking for him.
"Y'know...while my idea is safer, yours is random and...unlikely to be marked as an assassination attempt. What killer would ask to see the one he wants to murder at the front door, announcing his or her presence?"
David folded his arms.
"The only thing we'd have to worry about in that scenario is getting out, as im sure they would see us doing it. Then again, thats a worry all scenarios would have. I'd be willing to try your idea. Worse case, I have to kill a bunch of people before we kill him."
He cocked an eyebrow as she suggested splitting up.
"That's up to you- your the leader here...but I'd suggest against it. Splitting up in any case always ends in one person being captured or killed."
