Leon:
Leon is as usual wearing the majority of his battle suit and standing at the edge of Crow territory, waiting rather specifically for a certain Crow to come down from his perch.
Lucien:
Lucien was on rooftop, along the borders of Crow lands, when he felt a strange inkling that something strange was about to happen. Looking down to the street, he saw none other than Uncle Leon, looking loud and proud.
He jumped down and landed softly, crumpling in the landing, then slowly rising back up to meet the armoured man.
"Uncle Leon. I haven't seen you since..." Since that one time you kept asking me if I was thwarting your plans. Damned pizza God.
Leon:
Leon would nod.
"Yes, well this time your actually part of my plans... What have you learned of Qi?"
He stayed still holding the helmet of his suit in his left hand.
Lucien:
Lucien blinked. Had he said that last part out loud? He absently reminded himself not to think such things when there could be mind readers.
"Qi.. It's a life energy that exudes from the body. As unique as any other part of the person. The stronger the person's Qi, the more it can do. Mine for example, gives me invisibility, but right now, it's only when I'm staying still that I'm completely invisible. Apart from that, I can heal myself with water, but only when I contact it or drink it. I think that's something else about Qi that's pretty universal, it can't go too far from the body. Most effects have to be through contact or surface...."
He held his breath for a second, trying to judge Leon's expression to see if that was the answer he was looking for....
Leon:
Leon would smile and nod.
"Good... Observations of that level will keep you alive. If I where to say I could grant you anything, any one thing, what would you want?"
Lucien:
Lucien took the compliment, and not lightly. But the question troubled him. What he wanted most in the world? The answer used to be obvious. His parents alive, Barker dead, the apocalypse reversed... But...
The skills he had trained in before the world ended, that everyone told him would be useless in the old world, they were useful here. If that all went away, they would become useless once more. And frankly, at this point, he was having fun with them. And even besides that, if not for the awful things that Barker did, he would have never met Delilah, Raikotsu, Uncle Leon, Marcus, Ari....Anyone. He would have never joined Crows. Never found himself amidst the rubble.
Now, the answer was unclear. What did he want most? Lucien stayed silent for a long time, contemplating in thought.
"Anything? Well... I would want Barker to pay for his crimes. But that's only a means to an end, an obstacle in our way for the real goal, everyone's goal. The chance to rebuild, start a new life. Freedom. Yes, I would like that more than anything."
Leon:
Leon thought on the answer for a moment or two. The guy was... Different, though he was in the right organization if freedom was his goal.
"Well if you gain this freedom, if we rebuild the world... What is left for you?"
Lucien:
Lucien thought on this... If they rebuilt.. What, indeed.
"Well, obviously the skills I use in Crows on a daily basis would not be of much use. And if that's the case... I always thought I'd be a good guidance counselor. But that's just a pipe dream right now," He chuckled. "Other than that, I'd say that the world would be a very large and interesting place, once we rebuild. I'd like to see it all."
Leon:
"Lucien, in this world there are Gods and Monsters... How do you plan to bring them down, to rebuild around them?"
Lucien:
"It won't be easy, and no one single man would be able to do it. Not even Barker could have done all he did without his army. But the Crows, the Dragons, the Gods... If we all united together, stopped the infighting, the grudges.. We could easily take down Barker, and any monster or God that comes after him."
Lucien really hoped that it wasn't going to be one of those Dragonball Z type things where as soon as you destroy the most powerful being in the universe, some new foe comes along that is impossibly more powerful.
Leon:
Leon would nod. It was a reasonable answer, filled with logic.
"What if I where to tell you, you work with three of the most deadly of those monsters in our world?"
Lucien:
Lucien nodded as well. He knew full well that at any moment, he could have to choose.
"I know that. In fact, you're one of those monsters yourself, aren't you, Uncle Leon?" He smiled.
"Any human has the potential to become a monster, or like God. Sometimes power gets too much for them, maybe it was their plan from the beginning. Sometimes people just do what they have to. I know someday I might become one of those monsters myself. But, if I keep asking myself these questions, if I keep the ideal I've set myself to in mind, I might just become a force for good in the world."
Leon:
Leon's grin would widen to teeth baring.
"A monster I most deffinitly am."
Leon would 'look' directly at Lucien.
"Then what do you really need? How long do you think you have to reach the level of a monster, to keep this state of mind?"
Lucien:
Lucien frowned, starting to wonder more and more what this was all about.
"I don't know. It may be that I have to keep myself in check forever. Even so, I might be forced into becoming a monster by circumstance. It might be an inevitable force in this world. But, all I can do is try."
Leon:
Leon looked up and put a finger to his chin to think.
"Thats right, you accepted the responsability of power. By growing as you have been you will forever fight yourself for control. As I did. So lets move on to my plans."
Leon would reach into his back pocket and pull out a pair of newly refurbished black gloves. On the back of the hand was scribed the word "STRIKE" on a metal plate.
"These are old, and... adjusted. Impress me, and I will give them to you. Accept?"
Lucien:
Lucien stared. Both at the worn gloves and the man holding them. Somehow, he thought that maybe those gloves were the reason for all this. Maybe they would help. And if that was the case...
"Alright. What do I need to do?" He asked, ready for anything
Leon:
Leon would put the gloves back in his pocket.
"Attack me. Land one successful hit and the gloves are yours. Also, remember. This offer doesn't expire."
Leon:
Doesn't expire? Lucien thought of all the ways... But Leon knew all his tricks, all he was capable of. The man pondered how to best attack Uncle Leon... Punch him in his sleep? Does he even sleep?
"A-alright. I accept, I guess."
The mask in his back pocket was grabbed, and it descended over his face, masking his thoughts, emotions, aura, from anyone who could sense them. Then, he activated his Qi and turned invisible.
Leon:
Leon would listen and wait, still. Tossing his helmet to the side before speaking.
"Your smart, and fast. Read someone else, be adaptive. I'm sure you've heard all this, no? Well, why make that obvious? Attack! Make them think, no... Make them believe your agressive, and thats all you got, then when they get comfurtable, change."
Lucien:
Lucien made a leap to the side, and then dashed forward, towards Leon's left. Leading with his fist, he planted his feet at the last moment and made to punch him in the face, following it up with a shot aimed low, around Leon's floating rib.
Leon:
Leon made note to take it easy on Lucien as he listened to the guy's movements. The feet found root, and slid in a shift, which meant punches. Feeling the air almost as his ears also picked up the flutter of cloth as Leon's own hands moved on instinct following the muscle memory of small motion and quick blocks he had learned over the years, stopping the punch for his face, and the one for his floating rib. Leon himself would step in after that and send both hands for Lucien's chest in a hard push.
Lucien:
Lucien, knowing that his punches had been blocked, knew that Leon would be following it up with something to gain distance. So, as the hands shot in to push his chest, Lucien would deftly turn his whole body to the side, avoiding the arms, while at the same time ducking down to aim a dropping fist to Leon's quadricep, just above the knee.
Leon:
Leon felt the sting and smiled, even though he was blind, he knew the strike would come in. It worked well, the boy had the tactics and tenacity to act out the attacks, it was a good spot too, if it wouldn't of ended the battle he would begin chipping away the power and speed of someone he knew to be seriousely over powering.
"Good."
Leon would stand straight and reach into his pocket and pull out the gloves once more. Holding them out for Lucien to accept.
"You and the others. Kiyr, Rai, all represent the new generation. You will have to be stronger, and smarter than the likes of myself, "Unfettered", and Marcus. The world is feeling the repricussions of the last generations blood squabble. You understand what will happen should someone from your generation, should it survive and become better monsters than ours turns and becomes the new Barker?"
Lucien:
Lucien couldn't believe that he had hit him so quickly. Though, that was just one hit, and it would have been far from the end of the battle.
As he straightened up to accept the gloves from Uncle Leon, he listened.
"Another one like Barker would spell the end of the human race. It's our responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen again." He replied.
The thought of being smarter than 'Unfettered', stronger than Uncle Leon.. It in itself was a task, but one that Lucien felt he would be up to the task for. It was a long-term goal, that was certain.
"Thank you, Uncle Leon."
Leon:
"You can just call me Leon."
He'd hand over the gloves and put his hands to his pockets.
Strike Gloves (Modified): +5 Con, +4 Str, +3 Dex
These gloves obsorb Lucien's Qi and create an invisible field around his hands that act like brass knuckles. Simply extending his strikes invisibly.
Lucien:
"Leon it is, then. And thanks. I'm guessing your plan included getting me on this path, to becoming a better monster?" He asked, somewhat amused by his own words. It kind of felt like he was getting promoted. At any rate, he was on Leon's watch list. And that might be a good or bad thing, depending on what kind of monster Leon was.
