It was hot.
Like, crazy hot.
Like, you shouldn't be outside your gonna die of heat stroke hot.
David was outside, ignoring the warnings, and had forgotten to pull wind about him early to keep cool- so, being that he was suffering the same as everyone else, he had removed his shirt, standing on a ladder with the sun blaring down on his back. He wore shorts, with his normal shoes, and had a hammer and nails in his hands. He was fixing the overhand above the deck of the front of his new house, pounding away at the dry wood, trying to get everything situated perfectly.
It had been about four days since he had spoken with Les, and six since his talk with Kiyr. He'd give it another one or two days before he saw Kiyr again, to get things clear- but for us, this story will be a step away from the love triangle of his life.
No, David hoped Les would visit him, but for a different reason than to discuss their mutual attraction. Sure, he had a few minor things to say on the subject, but in truth, he planned something else. You see, David knew he was easily the strongest Qi user in California. Possibly the United States, or what was formerly the United States. And while he used his Qi on a daily basis, he had never seen Olesya use hers. Not since he had been back, anyway. So he came to the conclusion that either she was not experienced with it, and didn't want to seem off- or she had never used it at all, in which case, he was planning to make sure.
By force, if necessary.
Some needed gentle prodding in the right direction- others needed you to back them into a corner and out muscle them, make them truly fear for their lives. What better what to do that...then with someone who cared about you. He didn't want her to discover it on her own, when in combat- because what if that call came too late? With someone you knew, it would be much easier and make it so you could have that advantage ready, should the time come.
He took another nail from his left hand, put it to the wood, and slammed the hammer down, glaring up at the heat of the sky and trying his best to wish the sun away.

As promised, Olesya had come to meet David at his new house. It was a fix'er upp'er for sure, in comparison to his previous establishment. Today he was up on the roof nailing some shingles in place, or boards, or...something. That was how she'd found him. She'd ditched the jacket today due to the heat, dressed in an olive green tank top with a black sports bra underneath, khaki capris and her black toes shoes. Her hands were adorned in the fingerless gloves she'd gotten in the correctional facility years ago.
She pulled up to the coordinates David gave her, cutting the throttle on her bike. Coming to a stop, she kicked down the kickstand and dismounted, already missing the cool breeze the bike provided. She shielded her eyes with her hand, looking up to the roof where David was.
"Expecting rain?"
She called up sarcastically, deciding to be playful.

He looked down as she pulled up on her bike, striding over and watching him place boards and shingles onto his new overhang. He was just finishing up, luckily, so her timing was perfect. A grin. " More like desiring shade. Hard to sit on a deck when the sun sucks out all your breath." He started down the ladder, turning to her as he reached the bottom. He took the Tshirt off the bottom rung and start walking over to her. She seemed a little more in control, now, though this was probably because she was prepared to see him again, instead of him just showing up at her door willy-nilly. " Of course, if you ask real nice, I might be inclined to bring some rain in." He pulled the shirt on over his frame and gestured with tilt of his head. " Follow me." He'd lead her into his rather spacious backyard- The other lots were empty so he stole their backyard, building a fence about them, essentially giving him some area about half the size of a football field. On a table were several objects- A crowbar, a chunk of rock, a knife, a battery and a lighter. David would let her look about a minute.

"I'm surprised you haven't already. I would have."
She laughed, following him to the back yard and trying very hard not to check him out as she did so. She focused her attention on the yard instead. It was large and definitely a work in progress. It was very quiet too, far away from the hustle and bustle of the 'city' that made up the Dragon Territory.
"Quite a nice place you've got here."
She complimented, looking back to him. He had a table out with some seemingly random objects, but she figured since he was working on the roof and yard, that it was a product of him gutting the house and thus of no circumstance.

David smiled and shrugged as she said she was surprised- in truth, despite being the Storm Dragon, he didn't like to mess with the natural order of things unless he had to. He would turn around and walk backward past the table as she spoke.
"Yeah, its pretty cool. Needs a little fixing but... I don't mind."
He gestured to the table.
"So...I set out a bunch of objects here. Their point is to help in what I wanted to go over with you- Qi. See, I can tell you got the mojo inside, but for one reason or another, I haven't see you use it. I plan to bring it out. I'd like you to go to each of these items in turn and touch them. While you touch them, close your eyes and take deep, even breaths, and see if the feeling of it starts a tingle or...just feels right to you."
He would wait for her to go through the line, hoping that she would hit the one that was hers, and he wouldn't have to take the next, more drastic step.

Olesya quirked her eyebrow. She knew about Qi, almost everyone she knew used it, even that boy from the coffee shop she hardly knew, Vincent. Les just figured she was one of the un-endowed ones. Ordinary. She shrugged, 'well, here's to proving me wrong,' she thought as she picked up the crowbar.
She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. She could feel the cool steel in her hands, but nothing 'tingling' or meaningful. After about thirty seconds she put it down with a shake of her head.
"I've used it as a weapon...but no, nothing."
She picked up the rock. Mathew's qi had to do with the Earth, Maddie still had the earthen unicorn he'd forged for her effortlessly. She closed her eyes, took a couple deep breaths aaaand...it was still a rock.
"No."
She picked up the knife. Same song and dance...closed her eyes, a couple deeps breaths, and it still felt like she was holding a knife with her eyes closed.
"No."
Olesya picked up the battery and hefted it in her hand. Perhaps it will be 'tingly' if she touched the two nodes to her tongue like she had when she was a kid...but it was worth a shot. She closed her eyes, took some deep breaths, but no tingling sensation came from it.
"No."
And lastly the lighter. Fire. She took the lighter in her hand, even flicked it to create a small flame. Closed her eyes and took some deep breaths. The top grew warm from the flame, as was expected when you kept a lighter on for too long, but nothing even remotely extraordinary. She opened her eyes, lighting her thumb from the button, and set it back down on the table right side up so the hot surface wouldn't burn the table.
She looked back to David and shrugged, feeling a bit silly.
"No. Nothing."

David took a deep breath, chewing his lip, watching her go through each of them. At the end...nothing. He frowned. There was no way... He floated toys (items) from the porch onto his person before He would offer her his hand.
"There is another way."
If she took it, he would gently lift them into the air and take off west, toward the beach. They would fly past buildings and people below, some pointing up at them and others waving. He would land softly in the sand, removing his shoes. He knew she came to his house to get something from him- expecting they might stay there for a bit longer. David had other plans. He knew there was a possibility she was normal. Without that inner strength. The problem with that was David...had a gut feeling. A certain instinct about the idea of Qi. He believed that, after a certain point, everyone reached their limit in strength.
The ones who were normal, though, reached it far sooner than those with Qi.
He believed Qi gave you a certain boost, a physical addition that allowed you to go above and beyond the abilities of the normal man. Abilities that allowed you to punch through walls like paper or hurl cars. These gifts were inherent, he believed, to the union of Qi and the physical self. Olesya, he believed, had far passed the point where she should be for a "normal" human. She was nearly as strong as he was, so long as he didn't have his toys. He would place his shoes on the sand a ways up the beach, and turn to Olesya. Walking up to her and stopping about two feet away.
"This other way I'm talking about....? It's gonna hurt."
He would snap out a straight right punch, aiming for her left cheek with the idea to catch her off guard and make her stumble back or even sit her on her ass. His eyes were cold now...he was playing the part required. Doing what was needed to protect her.
"C'mon les. Wake the fuck up and try, just try to hurt me."

Another way?
Olesya had learned long ago to trust David to the ends of the earth. She took his hand without hesitation and watched as they flew to the beach. The air was cooler and moist, she could taste the tang of salt on her tongue. She'd always loved the ocean, it filled her with a sense of peace.
She untied the ribbons of her ballet shoes, slipping them off her feet. She also shrugged off her jackets, it was too warm for it. She left her items by David's shoes, joining him in the sand. She watched him curiously, recognizing the change in his eyes.
Shit...
The punch caught her in the face, sending her sprawling in the sand. Thankfully it was soft, the fall didn't hurt in the slightest. Her cheek on the other hand...she tumbled backward into a crouch, balancing on the balls of her feet and tips of her fingers as the looked up at him.
"Why does this not surprise me."
It wasn't a question. She pushed off from the ground, using more strength than when pushing off from asphalt because the sand provided resistance. She too could start simple, closing the space between them and aiming a roundhouse kick at his torso.

OOC: just for records sake, me and Ally understand Olesyas profile doesnt have a Qi approved in it yet. Following this thread, that Qi will be posted and approved before she uses it elsewhere. Thanks.
She....may not understand. That was his first thought to her stating it didn't surprise her. Before, David always fought his friends like they were just that- his friends. No damaging moves, no hurting one another to the point of disrepair....this time was different. In order to force out a Qi, especially one that was unknown, fear or anger or pride were usually catalysts. David had to make Les scared or angry- perhaps even a mix of anger and pride. To make that real, he would have to hurt her. Luckily he had some fruits with him, because for what he planned....
Following her loud boom signaling attack, David bent his knees slightly. As her kick came in, David stepped inward, bringing up the arm closest to where the leg was kicking and blocking it around knee level. David would then have an open shot to the side/kidney area closest to her kicking leg. So, using the arm he wasn't blocking with, David would throw a haymaker as hard as he could. He was trying to break ribs, no holding back or testing the waters. All his punches would contain maximum force throughout the fight. If his hit landed he hoped to blow her away. If all was successful, David would shake his head- what could he say to upset her?
Lies, maybe?
"I never should have picked you to run the dragons. You are so weak... Perhaps Kiyr would have done a better job."
....snap. That might do it.

He blocked her kick like it was nothing. That was the first indicator that something wasn't right. All of their fights before had been much lighter, almost playful. They never fought to actually hurt each other, but the look in David's eyes was bordering on dangerous. Was he angry with her? And if so, for what? Her multicolored eyes reflected this confusion.
Distracted, she took the haymaker to the chest at full force, the tight stomach muscles from the kick giving very little protection. She was blown backwards, the sand scraping her skin as she landed and slid a good three feet away from him. Pain seared across her chest with every breath...one of her ribs was probably cracked. It'd take forever to heal.
"What is your proble-?!"
She started, climbing to her feet as the insult hit her ears. She stared at him, shocked. Was this for the meeting the other day?! The one he'd dropped in on because an idiot messenger brought him the news that he was needed/ Did he think she couldn't handle it?
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
She yelled, her face flushing angrily.
"I wouldn't have had to do all this shit if you'd been there to do your job in the first place! I didn't ask for this, you dropped it on me! So don't you fucking DARE tell me I'm not right for a job that wasn't supposed to be mine!"
Yelling made her chest hurt even more, but her anger was slowly ebbing the pain away as adrenaline rushed through her veins. She worked so hard, she barely slept, she was a fulltime mother to Maddie and a leader...and he had the balls to tear her down for doing everything she could to stay afloat?!
She would not attack this turn, still too angry and shocked. She felt like she was staring at a stranger.

David cracked his knuckles and his neck- pretending like he didn't give a damn about what she was saying.
"Blah blah blah is all I hear. Blame what you want on me, Les, doesnt change the fact that I could turn you upside down and use your hair as a mop without breaking a sweat....and there isn't a damn thing you could do about it."
He wasn't serious in any of it- everything was his fault, he knew and he didn't want to push her away with what he said, but...emotion was also a powerful link to Qi. He would do what he had to and ask forgiveness later....he kicked sand up, aiming for her face, to make her close her eyes or flinch away. David would dart in low and aim another hard punch for her stomach, intent to knock the wind from her and make her double over. Immediately following would be an uppercut to send her ass stumbling into the ocean where she could fall.

Les felt like she'd been thrown into some other universe where David was a smarmy asshole who didn't give a rat's ass about her or anything. He had never, in the entire time Olesya knew him, treated her this terribly. This harshly. This was how you treated people you hated, how you treated your enemies.
She brought her hands up, shielding her eyes as he kicked sand at her, using the distraction to send another punch into her stomach. Crack-crack...the chest pain she had earlier couldn't hold a candle to how she felt now, pain searing through her entire torso and abdomen. Before she had a chance to recover, he gave her an uppercut that lifted her off her feet and careening into the water.
Olesya sank, the water was only about three feet deep at this point, but enough to drown someone as they lay prone in the water. Rather than feel like she was drowning in a sea of pain and oxygen deprivation, she felt like the waves ebbed it all away....it didn't even feel like her ribs were broken. After about a minute, Olesya broke the surface of the water, gasping for air. Maybe it was the cool shock to her system, but she felt...alright. At least physically.
David would have seen Olesya enveloped in a soft light when she was under water, brightest around her stomach, torso, and face where he'd hit her.
She looked at David, whose rage didn't seem to be quelled. She still wasn't angry enough to fight him back with as much ferocity as he was showing her. She was hesitant, obviously holding back. In a normal fight, she would eagerly reciprocate. But this...she didn't know what this was. And it scared her.
"I don't want to hurt you!"

David crouched, watching the water sort of swirl around her. Carry her. His eyes lit up as she sort of glowed. She came to her feet like nothing happened. He had felt her crumple under him, felt her snapping like a twig. As she came up, she was calm and cool and...not as angry as he expected. Like a renewed strength was flowing into her. Water...good god, she was the female Poseidon. He stayed crouched, his hands clasped together with his thumbs pressed against his mouth. He watched her speak, watched her stare at him.
It hadn't hurt, to say those things. He knew they weren't true...but it was enough. He watched her for several seconds.
"I don't care what you want. You'll fight back or I'll put you in the hospital. That sound like a nice couple of weeks, princess?"
Princess because she was helpless, and he the Dragon. At least...thats how he hoped she saw it.
He would stand as she glowed for a few moments. He was knew she was intelligent enough to grasp what part of her body and mind was causing these effects, and to access it, once its reality was forced on her.
"I'm coming again." He started walking forward, into the water, knowing how badly she could hurt him with it if she grasped what she was doing. "I tell you that because I'm not afraid of what you will do."
Now he would do something rather... low.
He would send a knot of air for the back of her head, aiming to smash into her and make her stumble forward, David throwing a hard left punch for her cheek again while she was caught off guard.
OOC:
This move, "hitting her from behind" is somewhat of a Godmodding/puppetering move. I realize this, but only used it as a training method and would not do so if this were a more center-facing fight.
If you would prefer to not have moves like this as per the rules, please let me know and I will edit!

ooc: Its fine! ----
Princess?! If anything, Olesya had been a tomboy her entire life. She almost never wore dresses, hated the color pink, and had chopped off her own hair when her mother talked about getting a 'cute little perm' in it. So to be called Princess was a pretty deep insult.
"I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you..."
She began, moving toward him as he moved toward her.
"But I'm not going to stand for it!'
Just as she shifted to make a move, a gust of wind knocked into her from the back. She fell forward, stumbling to keep her balance with her arms flailing out in front of her. She saw the punch coming for her face and tightened her arm muscles in an attempt to block the punch or at least diffuse it a bit. She was still knocked backward, the two momentums cancelling each other out and leaving her on her feet for once.
She didn't think he'd be the kind of person to fight dirty, but then again she found it hard to recognize the man in front of her. She pushed off, keeping one arm up defensively as she feinted up before ducking and aiming an uppercut at his stomach.

OOC: ThemeDavid didn't bother to block- he took the blow straight on...and it hurt like a bitch. But his face stayed straight as the pain from the blow radiated up through his abdomen. His hand would come down and attempt to grab her wrist as she made contact. He would twist her arm roughly, staring down at her cooly, even if he wanted to tell her he was proud of what she had displayed, of how strong she was. " Is that all?" He would try and keep hold of her wrist as he would try and bring a knee up into her jaw. He'd follow the momentum back, so she was in the water with him on top of him. He would let go of her arm and try to grab her by the neck with his left hand, holding her head and chest just above the surface. " You disgust me!" He'd punch for her face with his free hand. " After all this time and Im STILL unimpressed!" Another punch. " I never should have left Maddie with such a fucking wimp! A Crazy little woman who thinks she can be normal! You'll never be normal Les! Just ask Ophelia- I'm sure you'll see her any fucking day now! How could I ever love someone like that, Les? TELL ME HOW!" Another punch. David felt pain radiating from his chest now...but not from her hit. This time, he was wounding himself, spouting off lies he knew would tear her apart. But the woman was more stubborn than anyone he had ever met, and to get through to her, to make her angry enough to really understand her potential...he had to trust that she could forgive him. " After I'm done with you I'll take her away, don't worry. We'll head east maybe, huh? Live a great fucking life without you! You can't even hurt me Les! Fucking hurt me already! Stop TRYING to hurt me and-" He would punch her twice, shouting the last words. -" HURT ME!" He hoped it would be enough...he didn't think he could continue past that.
