Kyrie was quiet, listening. Turning words over and inside out in her mind.

Bastille stood and nodded, her face suddenly doing emotionless and serious. Enter the knight, this time she was in business mode.

Lucien thought about his own loved ones. Well, the few he had left. Wedge and the team would be in the battle with him, but...
What if they all died? Who was left?
Ari. The people in Lightning Kingdom. The People of Hermosa.
He shook that out of his mind. Now wasn't the time to think about that.
He was ready.

"Then what the fuck are we waiting for?" He said as he clapped his hands, hoping to get everyones blood running. He would look everyone in the eye before crossing his arms infront of his barrel chest.
"I say we get this party started then." His smile became almost feral in it's toothyness. He was scared yes. Scared and HUNGRY.

Post by Delilah A. Black on Oct 17, 2013 8:05:40 GMT -8
Delilah's mind was sprinting full tilt now while the others spoke around her. Ideas. Such ideas. Plans that would ultimately help them. Her contingencies...so many of them...
She thought back to all that she had accomplished in secret when 'Unfettered' went missing roughly this time last year. Her paranoia; what if I die? Who wil take my place if I am gone?
The answer was no one (save for 'Unfettered', but at the time, he was MIA). She had already a few close brushes with death. She knew what her death would mean for the cause, what the death of those she loved would do to her. So, the mechanic planned, plotted and schemed. All the little secrets and traps she had lying in wait, everything she had prepared the Crows for up until this point, was finally going to be utilized.
Delilah smiled and leaned forward, bracing her hands against the table.
"Crows forces are ready. We will take half of our army in with us, leaving us room to call in reinforcements if we need it and to also guard our own borders. Our territories are too split up to do otherwise."
But.
"I've...been making a few fail safes, as of late. Things I've given to people, or have stashed inside of Crow territory, primarily for defense. Recently, I've thought about the offensive circumstance, something a bit more...portable."
She looked at Mathew, head tilting slightly to the side.
"There will be enough room, a stretch of land to establish what I have in mind, yes?"
She thought there would be. Even if there wasn't, they would make do.
Suddenly very glad for the long arms of her Firsts' uniform that hid her fresh scars.

"Would that not depend on what you have planned?"
He didn't pretend to know every little secret that the Crows had up their sleeves. It was enough to know that they had their secrets to this point. He looked at Delilah with a curious glint in his eye, waiting for an explanation since she had brought it up.

Kiyr's hand slowly slipped up to clutch the two necklaces hidden beneath her shirt. One of which had been given to her by Delilah herself. She blinked, just as curious - if not moreso - than Mathew as to what the First Crow had planned.

Levi remained quiet and listened intently as he continued to plot and work Matthew's strategy. Levi questioned some aspects of the plan, though his doubts were probably coming from a lack of information, or so he hoped. He would ask when his turn came, but for now, his eyes would move between the map, Matthew and Delilah as they discussed her ideas.

The mechanic's smile broadened.
She moved from where she stood by Lucien and towards Kiyr looking at her with a steady, calm and harmless gaze. Not a threat. Trust me.
As she neared, Delilah swung at her, fast, but not aimed to follow through.
If Kiyr didn't move, the necklace around her neck would suddenly spear a pencil thin, metal spike straight into Delilah's gloved hand. Wincing, but appearing to have expected this, she pulled away, looking back at Mathew with a raised brow.
"Something like that. Laid out on the ground.
"Do you trust me?"

As Delilah's gaze moved to her, the blonde withdrew the Argentium silver, wire-wrapped necklace with its deep, crystalline blue gem, and lowered her hands. Whatever Delilah was about to do, whether taking it temporarily or giving a visual demonstration...
Kyrie trusted her.
As she trusted Mathew. As she trusted David.
She held her ground fearlessly, but did flinch as Delilah struck out. Despite the necklace having been activated when Asiv had attempted to fuse her soul to Levi's, she hadn't known what it did, even then. She inhaled slowly, looking down at the spike embedded in Delilah's gloved hand. Her heartbeat thrummed in a likeness to a hummingbird's wing beats...and she exhaled, slowly.

David had listened throughout it, saying nothing. He watched each face talk, and the casually quiet Storm Dragon seemed ill at ease. Much of the plan was straightforward enough, but having on the frontlines the people David cared about most was...not something he wanted. He Stared at the three pieces on the inside, including himself.
It was likely...he and Marcus and Mathew would die.
He turned his eyes to the people gathered about. Delilah Black. Mathew Amtrum. People he was in school with as a kid. Marcus, Lucien, Levi, Aryn...people he knew as steady fighters, fearless and full of heart. Bastille, Olesya, Kyrie....two he'd known since school. Two he was crazy about. A third he nearly married.
And if he died, if one of them died...their futures, hopes, dreams, aspirations, plans, desires....would be gone. Not for a time. Just...gone. Forever. He wasn't sure what to say...so he would wait, until nearly the end. So he could tell them...what he needed to tell them.

"I see..."
He watched the display intently. It was a nice little trick, a useful one too. It wasn't even that surprising. Well, the trick itself was new, but not that she had tricks. She was a plotter and a schemer. He liked that about her. A smart piece was a more valuable piece, as long as they still played the right role.
"Our forces are forming up. You have a few hours to set up as you can. Do what you can."
He paused as her own question mirrored his. Did he trust her? The Godmother of his children. An ally, a proven one. A woman willing to march to his plan without knowing everything. Showing great trust in him. He could only answer honestly.
"No, but I don't have to."

David would speak, looking down at the board.
"We have some good people here. Great fighters. I've fought all of you or at least seen you fight. We will be giving him hell. But...as we all know, this isn't going to be the normal walk in the park. We're not going to just take a facility, or kill some nobodies. This is Barker. The is who we've all wanted dead for so long. Since high school, when he was terrorizing children. He rules the world now- but not alone."
He pointed down at the facility on the map.
"Barker is an evil man, and deserves death. But we need to keep in mind that killing him won't end this war. Logically speaking, one man couldn't amasse the power, the weaponry and the men needed to do what he did. We kill him...we'll find out just who waits in the shadows. Don't go into this expecting the war to be over. To go home having saved humanity. It won't be the end. It's just another step."
He planted a finger on his piece.
"Me." He tapped Marcus. "The wolf." He tapped Mathew. "The Earth Dragon. At least one of us three are probably going to die."
He stared at each of them.
"Don't get me wrong- I have every confidence in our abilities. And we'll fight like devils. But the difficulty faced in front of us is monumental. This doesn't lessen the trial your gonna face outside- But, if we should all fail, you need to know what should be done next."
He turned his eyes to Mathew, then to those standing or sitting about.
"Assuming worst case, and the three of us go down, Whichever of us has the power or energy left will give a signal. A sign that we failed. If we do, obviously, we expect a full retreat on your part. Live to fight another day."
He turned back to Mathew.
"You sat about, or so we thought, for several months doing nothing. Now I understand your game. How you mapped us all out- must have been planned to the T. These guys, our men- there is a lot of faith on our shoulders, and a lot of trust you've asked for. Everyone knows their roles. We're all prepared to fulfill it. So I have to ask the alarmingly obvious question, at least in my head."
He didn't blink, ignoring everyone else.
"I have to know- what is The endgame? Me against Barker? You? What are you planning for this? You have said we're to attack the base. We're to get inside. But what then? When will the war be over for you?"
David waited.

Mathew's face almost seemed to grow dark as David continued talking at him. Echoing the things that should be obvious! To go without saying. This was a game, Barker was King to many people. But the King was still just a piece on the board.
Still, despite himself, his lips tugged upwards, a giggle bubbling forth from his lips, turning into a chuckle before morphing in to a full on laugh. He shook his head and clapped David on the back.
"David... you have no sense of dramatic timing."
He shifted his hands behind his back and slowly began to pace.
"The plan is as I laid out. Up front and honest. No traps, every piece I can reliably pin point is on that board. My plan isn't for us all to die here today."
Today.
"The plan is we get in, you and Marcus deal with the freaks while I ditch you to reach Barker alone. From there I kick his ass and force a surrender, because killing Barker means game over for us. The goal is checkmate. Not elimination."
He expected that to be an unpopular opinion. But David put him on the spot. And Mathew was nothing if not honest and true to his word.
"Marcus and David already hit the nail on the head. Barker isn't the end game, and you gotta ask yourself. Why have we been allowed to rebuild as much as we have on his doorstep? For years! Not in hiding, but in defiance. Why did he not strike at my wedding. When every head of the rebellion was gathered and unarmed for the taking?
Simple, though hard to wrap your head around if you let your emotions guide you. He isn't the real enemy. So I plan to take him, strip him of his power, and put him on trial. His crimes are still valid. But I will not allow the chance to show our people that we are building a fair society slip away. We have one chance to do the right thing."
Or he would do it for them.
"As for when this war is over for me?". He looked around the room."
"It's over when the monsters in this world are extinct."
Including the ones in this room.
"Happy?"
He asked David.

Bastille stood at attention and just ignored the babble. Even she didn't completely agree with Mathew, but thats because whatever evil was controlling Barker, if any, hadn't been the one to make things personal. Barker was- and as per her reasoning and codes, he was the one in need of a life in solitude. (a fate worse than death according to the knight here.) Her eyes would look at her piece holding up the rear. It was a little disappointing but was a position she could hold well. Mathews ideal- was a fools errand.
