Leon Sudeki:
Leon would be approaching the edge of Crow territory with Yun and Chris his two body guards, simply waiting for an envoy, they where likely being watched and with Leon in full uniform with an entorouge it was deffinitly a business trip. Yun was also carrying a metal suit case
Lucien DeChain:
Indeed, they were being watched. By one of the best. Invisibility came in handy that way.
From rooftop, Lucien waited, watching the group. He found it quite strange, and in juxtaposition to the other times the Lightning Dragon had found his way into Crow Lands, that he was accompanied, and lookingdapper as fuck very professional.
Making sure he was out of earshot, he clicked on the earpiece that had been nestled in his ear. Murmuring into it, he watched the group, not taking his eyes off of Leon for a second.
"Seeker DeChain here. Following up on a reported sighting of the Lightning Dragon. Confirmed, I have a visual on Leon Sudeki. Send word to First Black and Zero Winters. It seems like he wants to talk."
Clicking the earpiece twice, he found himself on another channel.
"Seeker to Specters. Lefty, Eyes, greet our guests nicely. Everyone else, in the fog. We might need you, so stay alert."
"Sir."
"Sir."
-
A slim, shaggy-haired teenager and a woman with her hair tied into a ponytail would slip into the street from opposite directions, and make their way to meet the group that Leon had brought. They smiled warmly as they approached.
"Hello, hello. My name is Phoebe Tager, and this is Andrew Mayfield. It's very nice to meet you." Eyes held out her hand to Leon, offering. Lefty continued.
"We've been, uh, dispatched to escort you to the Crow's Nest. Uh, you can follow us."
Leon Sudeki:
Leon would nod along with the explanation, Yun would tap him on the right shoulder as a signal, raising his hand Yun would gide the arm to grasp the hand shake.
"Thank you and please, lead the way. This is Yun, and Chris, they are my personal body guards."
And they would follow.
Lucien DeChain:
When Eyes realized that the man was blind, she inwardly grimaced for her social faux pas. Outwardly, though, her smile stayed strong. Looking over to Yun and Chris, she offered them both handshakes before straightening back up.
"Yes, shall we?" She motioned forwards, and Lefty and Eyes would start to lead the group down the street towards the docks.
-
"On the move. Sunny, Wedge, Brig, on me. Nyx, Sam, Bret, follow the group. No violence. At all."
Six replies of "Sir," and Lucien was off, making his way through the rooftops. He would have to be at the Nest to greet them.
Leon Sudeki:
Yun and Chris in turn would accept the hand shakes. All would follow in whatever pace was set. Leon was surprisingly able to walk comfurtably. Though by now it was probably visible on the metal case a form of frost escaping the seals.
Delilah Black:
The earpeice crackled-- 'First Black, do you copy?'
Delilah lowered the papers in her hand, tearing her eyes away from the reports scrawled on the sheets in front of her. She stood in her "office" in the garage, just behind her desk. Various trinkets lay scattered about the surface of her work table. So much to do, so little time...
She lifted a hand to her ear, "I copy, over."
'I have a message from Seeker DeChain; the Lightning Dragon is here with a few envoys. It seems to be that he is requesting a meeting.'
"At the 'Nest?"
'Yes, ma'am.'
"Very good. Relay to Seeker DeChain that meeting room A will be open and that I'll meet them there."
And off she would go, to the meeting room. But not before a quick costume change.
The uniform she had worn to Kiyoshi's funeral was getting easier and easier to slip on, now that she was being forced to wear it on a near regular basis. And it was in this uniform that she stood at the back of the room near the wall, hands clasped behind her back as she waited formally for the arrivees.
Lucien DeChain:
As Lucien arrived at the Nest, a message came through his earpiece. Tapping it once, he listened, and after a moment, he replied with a simple "Roger. ETA of Lightning Dragon, 3 minutes."
Just enough time to look presentable.
-
"We should be arriving in a few minutes." Eyes noted to the rest of the group. As she walked, her nervousness with the situation was carefully hidden, in order to play the part that was given to her. Lefty, however, was completely aloof, as usual. The young man patted his stomach, thinking of his next meal, while occasionally sweeping the hair out of his eyes.
As they approached the large complex of buildings that was the Crow's Nest, the two escorts would both tap their ear in tandem, and lead their VIPs into the building, to a room that was marked with a single 'A' on the door. Stepping to either side of the door, they would gesture with their hands to enter.
"Here you are, then. The First and Seeker are expecting you."
And, indeed, they were. Lucien sat at the large rectangular table, to the left of Delilah, who was centered in the room. He smiled, but stayed silent, waiting for Delilah to speak first.
Leon Sudeki:
Leon, Yun, and Chris would stay silent the whole trip, mostly cause Yun and Chris where busy making sure Leon didn't fall on his face and hurt his pride. Once inside, Yun would lead Leon to a seat while they stood at either side of him, waiting for the greeting that was likely to come.
Delilah Black:
Delilah smiled welcomingly as the door opened. She swept her arm to the room.
"Good afternoon, Elder Sudeki, Dragons. Might we interest you in some coffee?"
start hospitable, then work your way up.
If they were so inclined, coffee would be meticulously poured for them by the First herself (or Lucien if he decided that the amount of sugar in one cup had an uneven number of granules), placed on saucers, and placed in front of each of them.
The First would then settle into the chair at the head of the table, smiling all the while.
"To what do we owe the pleasure, Sudeki-san?"
Leon Sudeki:
Chris, the blond with the katana strapped to his waist did actually want some coffee, but the others declined politely. Leon would answer Delilah's question however.
"Well, I am actually here for Lucien, but this matter effects The Crows, even in the slightest. So I wanted to get us all into a meeting. Yun."
He'd put a hand out and the metal case would be placed in his hand, the frosty air permiating from the case now as he decided to put it on the table.
"Lucien, this offer will effect you, likely alot. I do not offer lightly, and you should not accept on a whim. It will make you a target, and likely make you a better monster."
Lucien would know the meaning behind that from an earlier talk.
"Delilah, this offer will not remove him from the Crows, but I will need to take him for training from time to time. Though he will also be a member of The Dragons by name alone. He will hold no responsabilities however, unless he choses."
Finally he stood up and removed the weighted Lightning Dragon Coat, and put it down on the table, then removing the Qi repressing choker around his neck would also place that on the coat.
"I wish to make Lucien, my heir. To become the next Lightning Dragon."
Lucien DeChain:
"Please, First, allow me." Said Lucien, as he delicately poured the coffee for the sword-strapped man. In fact, Delilah's earlier notion had been absolutely correct. He counted quickly, though, and through estimating found that a perfect power of two existed inside all teaspoons, when made slightly over level.
As he sat back down, Leon began speaking. From then on, all that existed was his words. With the amount of times his name was mentioned in the beginning, Lucien felt nervous. By the end of the speech, the slim man was flabberghasted. Wide eyed, staring at the blind man, the coat, and the choker. Which was to be his.
Lucien DeChain, The Lightning Dragon.
WHAT.
His jaw dropped, and though he tried to speak, no sound came out. He looked to Delilah, obviously in a state of (no pun intended) shock.
Delilah Black:
Delilah let Lucien take the coffee and condiments with a grateful nod of her head (Such a good lad) before turning back to listen to Leon--
--eyes drifting to the strange looking attache case with...tendrils of frost leaking out of it? Bells starting ringing faintly in her miind.
--eyes snapping back up as Leon stood up...and removed his coat and choker, placing it beside the attache case.
"I wish to make Lucien, my heir. To become the next Lightning Dragon."
Delilah's eyes widened at the thought, and shifted to look at Lucien to take in his reaction. Which made him look catatonic.
Okay, it looked like the Seeker's brain needed to reset. Deilah turned back towards Leon.
"That is...an interesting offer. One that Lucien is, of course, free to make as he chooses.
"If I might ask a few questions to allow for more clarity...why Lucien and not your own son or any one of the other Dragons, such as your nephew, Raikotsu? How will that make him the Lightning Dragon? Lucien has no electricity based Qi, after all. Will the other Dragons and Elders accept him off the bat or will he need to be bled in as the others are? Lucien is strong, but that is a lot to take. Will the training come prior to the announcement of heirship? If so, I might mention that you have had several apprentices in the past...not many have survived the intensity of your tutelage. What makes you sure Lucien will meet the criteria?"
She forced herself to close her lips tightly to allow Leon a chance to reply. The raven haired woman was leaned forward slightly with her elbows propped up against the surface of the desk, looking intently at the blind Dragon.
'Unfettered' and 'Teal' might not be here...but she was certainly channelling them now, questions and mind whirling in all.
Leon Sudeki:
Leon would simply nod along with her questions and begin opening the case as he replied.
"Well, my son is only ten years old, well will be soon. Raikotsu isn't where he needs to be when it comes to skill. These"
Leon would gesture to the coat and choker.
"Are symbols and... Needed to command the abilities of The Lightning Dragon. The elders will accept my choice to pass on my own title or deal with me or him as they see fit. Likely they will test him in a way that suits them. Mathew will test his puzzle breaking skills and David will test his morals. My training with him will simply be to learn to control his new abilities, and yes he will be traine dbefore I announce him my heir. The criteria? Easy. He understands the mind of a warrior, he has a strong will and prides himself on many things that he himself doesn;t even know. Thats all it takes to be a Dragon, thats all it takes to be The Lightning Dragon. The Lightning Dragon embodies above all else will power and pride."
Leon would pull a short maybe three foot long object from the case. It would appear as though made of a light blue glass, yet frost permiated from it. Inside was a kind of black plasma swirling about on the inside.
"This I have come to learn will take all of my Qi and abilities and pass them on to whomever I chose. This is also true for anyone. You yourself could do this if you chose as well."
Leon's head would move as if looking at Lucien.
"He is already a Monster, he just needs to be a better one."
Delilah Black:
Delilah fell silent...frowning at the last statement...and turned to Lucien, scrutenizing him with what could only be construed as worry.
She wouldn't say anything about whether or not she agreed. But her eyes kept moving to the object and the bells in her mind grew stronger. SOMETHING about that object was so familliar...she forced her gaze to Lucien.
"This is your choice, Lucien. You know the risks."
He would just have to have faith in what his heart was telling him.
Lucien DeChain:
His mind whirled. It bounced from statement to statement, from object to object. But one force stayed in his mind. Crows. Delilah. "Unfettered". Marcus. "Teal". This didn't mean leaving, this didn't mean abandoning. In fact, this probably meant he could be a force to further the unity between Crows and Dragons. If he, a Crow, were to become a Named Dragon...
It scared him. All this talk of trials, of tests, of training. It was exciting, and appealing, but in the small place in the back of his mind, it was frightening. The coat, the choker. The device. It seemed so heavy. Not literally, but a weight that he would have to carry. Was it his purpose to carry? Was it his destiny to carry?
The path that was presented to him, the support of his First... All of it pointed in one direction. But, one could admire his hesitation, for taking this very seriously. The talk of monsters, of becoming the next, to become the better, to become a monster for good...
Crows. Dragons. What was it he had said? At the end of the day, we're all the same. Was that actually true? Was any of this true? Where was his mind? His spirit? Where was his fight, his friend, his intention?
There.
Lucien looked at Leon. His face was mostly neutral. "Mister Sudeki... Leon... I don't pretend to know what your reason is for choosing me for this role. I, myself, don't know if I'll be able to live up to your words, your legacy. But," He paused. Looked at Delilah, smiled.
"I'd be a fool to decline out of self-doubt. I, Seeker Lucien DeChain of Crows, accept your very gracious offer."
A point of action. The first step towards a journey. Falling out of one state of motion, and into another. Forward.
Leon Sudeki:
Leon would smile.
"Well then this next part should be interesting. Come on over here."
Leon would carry with him the short spear and wait for Lucien to approach once he was close enough he'd stab Lucien right in the direct center of his body, yet there would be no blood, in fact it was like the spear wasn't penetrating him. There would be no pain.
Leon would reach back and focus his Qi into his right hand, as much as he himself could muster... All of it. The black lightning screaming around his hand as he grabbed the spear once more. It began obsorbing the energy and transfering it into Lucien's Qi center.
And soon Leon's energy would be gone completely, and he would pull the spear from Lucien's chest. Leon felt very weak though and was breathing heavily.
"Lucien gains Leon's Qi in full.*
Lucien DeChain:
Lucien would hesitantly stand, his knees suddenly shaky. As he neared Leon, he felt something hit his stomach... Oh. He was impaled. But.. Where was the pain...?
Lightning pooled around Leon's hand as he grabbed the apparent conduit that was in Lucien's center. In bright flashes of light, it was sucked in to the device, and then into him.
A surge of power flowed through him. Power he had never felt before, never imagined. His hair stood up on end, his muscles shook and spasmed. It was exhilirating.
When the device was pulled out of him, Lucien fell to one knee, his muscles reacting to the sudden electrical energy flowing through his system. He breathed heavy looking up at the man.
"Wow."
Delilah Black:
Delilah found herself on her feet as Leon plunged a spear into Lucien and proceeded to electrocute him with it. She bit the inside of her cheek to bite back her protest, and instead stood there, watching Lucien recieve all of the Lightning Dragon's power.
Part of her was surprised that she wasn't in the least bit jealous. Power of that level would be able to keep so many people safe, and wasn't that what she always wanted?
But she also knew full well the cost of such power and had come face to face with it many a time. If the offer had been presented to her, she would not have taken it: no amount of strength was worth the risk, in her mind, of damaging your soul to the point of taking it off the path of the warrior. And that was a risk here. She saw it plain as day...and appreciated Leon for mentioning it to Lucien.
'Better monsters' indeed, she thought grimly.
For in the end, what was the difference between a Monster and a God other than the way one went about destruction? Another bevy of terms could be interchanged throughout, though, this position certainly not being limited; The martyr or the prophet? The warrior or the demon? Delilah knew her own choices, and she saw plainly how the path of the Demon beckoned to any who came across those perilous choices.
There was no such thing as a 'better monster', in the mechanic's eyes; only the need to justify bad deeds with necessity and 'good' results, and that belonged to everyone. The ability to see beyond that and do what was not good or bad, but RIGHT belonged solely to humans.
But this was not her decision to make. She might not agree with what was happening here--a sense of dark dread had filled the pit of her stomach-- but it was Lucien's life, decision...and, if necessary (dear god, she hoped she was wrong), mistakes to make. One thing was certain, however...this would either make him an amazing man...or it would break him.
" How do you feel?" she asked Lucien, worry still evident on her features.
Leon Sudeki:
Leon staggered back a bit, a smile forming on his face as he still breathed a bit heavy. That took more out of him than he had expected. Leon would put the spear on the table as he leaned on it for support.
"It does that."
Leon says in reply to Lucien's comment. Though he'd turn and nod at his group and Yun would grab the Choker and walk over, waiting for Lucien to stand. He'd be handed the choker. It would suppress the Qi enough for himt o get used to over time, but it would do its job in keeping the Qi from pulling out the more aggressive nature of Lucien before he is ready to deal with it.
Of course that was all part of the training.
Lucien DeChain:
Lucien would slowly stand. In response to Delilah's query, he turned and smiled weakly.
"I feel... strange. But, I'm okay." he breathed.
The truth was, he felt very... full. Like a wellspring inside him was about to burst and overflow. It took everything he had not to let it flow over and out.
He was handed the choker, and he hastily put it on, his hands working faster than usual. Once it was secure, the wellspring seemed to settle. And he was okay.
"Th..thanks."
Delilah Black:
Assured that Lucien was okay, Delilah then turned to Leon, brow furrowed a little deeper.
"...Sudeki-san, are you alright?"
Leon Sudeki:
Leon would nod at the question rubbing his temples, those hurt. The transfer apparently didn;t get rid of the gamble fruits effects, so Lucien was safe from that. Also Leon could still sense everyone in the room, which meant Barker's expiramentation was still there as well.
"I'm fine, truth be told that was the first time a full transfer has been tried, I didn't know the strain it would put on me."
Yun would smile and nod when Lucien gave his thanks. While Leon would begin laughing slightly at his own admittance to how this was the actual first time its been done.
