Lucien nodded. He was glad that he was able to help his new friend. She was slightly fatigued, Lucien could tell from the way she held herself. Though, Lucien was coming to realize that she was the type to never admit it.
"I'm glad to see my theory works... How about we take a short break? I'm a little chilly..." He said as he motioned to the shore. The warm sand was getting more attractive and less gross by the minute. Especially if it meant that Olesya didn't get way too worn out. It would be really bad if she suddenly fainted from fatigue... He would have to drive the motorcycle....

She was feeling the pins and needles in her legs, indicating a bit of exhaustion. It wouldn't do to wear herself out, so she nodded, agreeing with his proposal. She shook out her arms, rolling her neck in a circle as they walked to the shore.
The sand felt warm beneath her feet, and she didn't even care that she was still damp, she flopped down on the ground and stretched her legs out, and planted her hands behind her, leaning back slightly.
"Ahh."

Lucien sloshed through the shallow water to the beach, immediately feeling better. He followed Olesya's lead, first laying down his Lightning Dragon Coat as a sort-of beach towel. Laying back, he used his hands as a pillow for his head, as his arms splayed akimbo at his side. Soaking up the sun.
"This is nice," He breathed. The glare from the sun was rough, so he kept his eyes closed as he lay. It would be so easy, with the embracing warmth, the calm friendly atmosphere, the smooth undulations of the waves, to just lay here for hours...

"It is."
She smiled, soaking in the suns rays and feeling the ebb and flow of the waves gently undulating against the shore. It felt in tune with her own heart beat, it was a part of her, woven into her very soul. It was so relaxing and empowering at the same time.
"So, tell me about yourself Lucien. How did you get here?"
Here meaning with the Dragons. At the time of his entitlement, Olesya had been too angry to get to know the new Lightning Dragon. Now they had plenty of time.

Lucien didn't move for a few seconds, thinking about what she had asked, and how he was going to answer. He sat up, turning his upper body to her.
Well... I came to Southern California right before the bombs fell. From Colorado, you see. It was a stroke of luck, perhaps, because I've heard rumors that my hometown was wiped out..." He paused. His family...
Shaking off the thought, he continued. "Anyways, I ended up joining the Crows a while later, training under Marcus to start. He taught me most of what I know about freerunning. I got promoted, was given control over Hermosa, and given my own squad. This was about the time that Leon approached me, and asked me to be his successor. He... gave me his Qi. Which I didn't think was possible, but here I am. That was months ago, and I've been training secretly from then until the time I was announced as the Lightning Dragon."
That was long winded, wasn't it?

She listened to his story, genuinely interested. She had also come from the North, but just Northern California. Les had started out in Crow territory as well, Delilah and her squad had come to escort her through neutral territory to the safety within their borders. From there she'd run into David and Mathew and made the move to Dragon territory.
She and Lucien probably had more in common than she originally thought.
"How do you feel about being his successor?"
She asked gently, now curious as opposed to insulted that he had been named Dragon when she had not.

Lucien raised an eyebrow. He hadn't been asked how he felt about this, yet. Not by anyone.
"I.. I still don't know why Leon chose me. Even with all I've learned, everything I've been told, it's a mystery to me. But I know that I accepted this, because I wanted to a.. Catalyst. For change. To bring everyone together. Crows, Dragons, it never really mattered to me. We're all just people, right?" He replied, somewhat unsure of himself. He turned over to his side, to face Olesya, trying to gauge her reaction. Though Lucien couldn't feel it, if Olesya was looking at him, she would see a bright red sunburn covering Lucien's entire exposed chest.

A catalyst for change? Well damn...had she set aside her pride and talked to Lucien in the first place, she was certain they could have been friends, or at least friendly. She had been working her ass off as interim leader of the Dragons in Mathew, Leon, and David's absences, and had been trying to do that exact thing. But she had been denied Elder status, denied a title. Seeing Lucien become Leon's successor had been a major insult to the white-haired woman. All because of pride.
"I confess, I'm one of the ones who thought you unworthy of being Leon's successor. Now that I've seen you in battle and actually met you, I admit that I was wrong. I-"
Her thoughts were cut off as bright red invaded her vision. Lucien appeared to be on fire with the sunburn across his chest. Her eyes widened as she stared at him, didn't that hurt?!
"You're...burnt all to hell."

Burnt all to... hell?
Lucien looked down. What he saw set off all sorts of panic alarms in his brain. He tried moving. It hurt a lot.
"Oh... I'm sunburned... I... whatdoidowhatdoido.." He grew more nervous as he looked on, glancing back and forth to Olesya with a helpless look in his eyes.
He slowly moved to get up, scrambling to put his shirt on, his coat, anything to hide his skin from the sun. It was way too soon to get a sunburn, even with his pale complexion... Something was wrong.
The moment the weighted jacket touched his skin, a flash of pain flew through him, every inch of his sunburned chest rubbing the fibers of the fabric. He paused for a moment, not wanting to move more than he needed to.
"Ow.. owowowowowow."

Olesya's eyes widened at his panic, and she climbed to her feet, trying to take control of the situation. He grabbed his jackets and attempted to put it on, which of course only caused him more pain. She stepped forward, gently pulling the jacket off his shoulders, if he let her.
"Stop. Stopstopstop. Come here."
She gently reached for his wrist and led him up the beach to the pier, where the structure cast a shadow on the sand. She led him out of the sun, gesturing for him to sit down out of the sun. She summoned some water from the ocean, engulfing both of her hands and infusing it with her Qi. The light blue glow bounced off her skin in a mildly eeiry fashion.
"Lay down, carefully."
She'd kneel beside him placing her hands on his torso to heal the sunburn. She'd never seen anyone burn that fast. Maybe one or two of the nerds from AV club back in high school but that was about it.
"Do you...not spend a lot of time outdoors?"

Lucien did not put up any fight, eager to get any sort of relief to his suddenly pretty shocking predicament. It was fairly painful, and hot to the touch... But his chest had only been exposed for a few scarce minutes.
"I-I do, yes. This hasn't really ever happened before... I don't recall a time I've ever been sunburned." He commented, as he felt the soothing of the water on his skin, tripled from the effects of both his and Olesya's Qi. Within minutes, the burn was gone, leaving a slight tingling feeling as it faded.
"Thank you. I, ah, I don't know how that happened...."
IM SORRY THATS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE IM USUALLY A LOT BETTER THAN THIS I SWEAR

As the intense red faded away, Olesya let out the breath she was aware she'd been holding. That had been...mildly frightening. She'd never seen anyone get so red so fast, and he even said he didn't sunburn!
"Really? With your complexion?"
She asked, though not meaning any harm by the statement. She'd been this way in high school too: Limited filter, honest to a fault, never any harm meant by it. Olesya frowned, pulling the water from her right hand to hold in in a ball in her left, reaching out to touch his torso. His skin felt much cooler.
"Maybe it was just a fluke. Maybe not. We have a doctor here who is pretty extraordinary, so if anything happens, he can see you."

"D-Doctor?" Lucien gawked, suddenly nervous again. He didn't want Olesya to worry more, so he tried to play it cool. This was, after all, a personal aversion as opposed to an emergency.
"No, I don't think that's necessary... They probably have more important things to take care of, anyways..." He chuckled. Hopefully that would be enough of an excuse...

Olesya quirked an eyebrow, curious as to why he was so adverse to going to the doctor. Was he one of those guys that hatehatehate the doctor? She had forgotten that people like that existed. Maybe because David needed regular appointments due to his illness, and Maddie loved seeing the doctor (really, she just loved seeing anybody, the little social butterfly), so Olesya hadn't been subjected to that in a while.
"Well...okay..."
She wasn't him mother, so she wasn't going to press the issue. He was a big boy and could take care of himself. She fell back onto her butt from her crouched position, her feet rising about an inch from the gorund before planting in the sand.
"Maybe you should invest in some sunscreen."
She half joked, half serious. Olesya was blessed with sun kissed skin, mostly from having played outside a lot as a child. As Varsity Captain, she spent a lot of time outdoors at team practices, and spent weekend at the beach surfing and wake boarding. She couldn't remember the last time she'd had a sunburn that nasty.

"Yeah, maybe..." He replied, laying down again as well. He wasn't sure if Olesya had caught on, but if she had, Lucien was grateful she didn't make a fuss about his aversion to doctors. It had been a long time since his frequent doctor visits and therapy bouts, but he still carried the same anxiety.
Lucien looked out from under the dock, its cool shade hiding the harsh glare of the sun. His eyes had barely adjusted yet, but he could still tell...
"If we don't get going soon, we'll run out of daylight before we reach Dragon Territory. Shall we call it a day?" He asked. It wasn't just the sun that was giving him the hint, he had some investigating of his own to do, now. And, he conceded that they had put in a full lesson, and Olesya had learned a crucial key feature of her Qi. Which, to Lucien, was more than enough of a reward.
