Word spread fast through Mount Olympus about the death of Hades. And for the first time in a long time Mathew had found himself speechless. The death of the Lord of the Underworld was not only a serious blow to Mathew and his plans, but an unforseen wrench in his plans. He had assumed if Strike was to take the mask before it reached Mathew that Summers would have been the weak link in the chain. This revealed a level of Strike's capabilities as well as proved Mathew right on his suspicions. Strike couldn't be trusted to keep deals since Hades died before Rai's timer was up. More than that, Mathew having the mask was bad for Strike, but Rai having one wasn't. It was something to think on.
When word reached them on Mount Olympus Mathew had volunteered to venture into The Underworld to try and retrieve his soul. How he planned to do that without Hades was up in the air. He would figure that out when it came to it. And while he didn't believe the guy was actually Hades the man did pull souls from somewhere, which lead Mathew to believe there was something he could do or somewhere to go.
His first task once in Hades domain was to find the ferryman. Thankfully the Gods were sticklers for living up to their namesakes. But if anyone could guide Mathew it would be Charon.

Mathew would make it to the throne room where two individuals stood protecting the throne. They appeared to be the Reaper Soldiers. Those under the command of Hades and Charon. They where showing a mix of emotions for the time being, the largest of all being anger. The simply inclined their head when Ares came into view. Knowing full well the failure they endured allowing this to happen in their own base.

"At ease Reapers. I come not to strike you down as punishment. I come to bring Hades back, his death can not, and will not be permitted. I must find Charon."
He was prepared to face doubts, to be told it could not be done. He was ready for any protest, but he hoped with their recent failure they would jump at the chance to bring back their lord. And if not then Mathew would go through them. One way or another.

They would raise their heads at Mathews words before exchanging glances. The first would speak. "We are awaiting Charon's return from the field now." It would be only minutes now before stepping in behind Mathew would be an individual decked out in full Reaper Knight gear. She'd look to Ares, and the other two, and walk past Ares without so much as a word. "Where is his body?"

Mathew stepped to the side to let them talk. He imagined this was cause for some internal politics within the Reapers. He didn't care too much about that beyond how he could use it to reach his ends. In this case bringing Hades back.

Charon would get the nod she was waiting for in answer to her question. Looking back she'd approach Ares.
"Sorry... I'm Charon... War God if your here to pay your respects it will have to wait."
And one of the other reapers would speak up.
"Actually, Ares says he can bring your father back!"
It was not a shout, but an urged silence of words, which when she heard she would simply stare at Mathew before rolling her eyes.

Mathew was unphased by her eye roll. He knew what it sounded like, but already a plan was forming in his head. It was possible, everything was possible.
"If you believe me and the others like your Father to be God's then know that life and death is a constant war and War is my domain. If you know us to be but men then understand that the limits of humanity are only those we give it. Nothing is impossible for a properly determined.
Think of your Father, what he could do and what he has done. God or man he had gifts beyond the scope of most peoples imaginations. Look at your Father's life and tell me what I seek to do can not be done."

Charon would stay silent, before turning and walking towards a door int he back of the throne.
"Then follower of the ways of war. Lets see that resolve at work."
She would lead Mathew into Hades back study, it was basically empty except a few choice books along the lines of war and philosophy novels. On a table being prepped for the funeral was Hades body itself.
"His soul lingered... I have not the strength to capture it... Or understand what it is trying to tell me. I followed it before it was dragged to wherever we actually go when we die."

Mathew nodded as he looked over at Hades' body. The soul lingered. It was an interesting thing to hear. He had never thought of souls lingering. He wondered if he would linger when he died. His eyes shot to the two knights.
"Run and fetch Hel and Anubis. We may have need of their knowledge."
He would wait for them to go before turning to Charon.
"You did not have the strength to catch his soul? Tell me, what exactly is your Qi?"
He asked as he placed his stone hand on the chest of Hades, channeling Qi into his palm but not melding the stone.

The two knights would do as they where told and take off to get Hel and Anubis.
Charon however would answer the question.
"My Qi was like my fathers. I can see someone's soul, the level of taint or purity held within, and even grab hold of them when they pass... Though for me to get stronger, or at least as strong as my father I will have to devour every one I come across for the next twenty years... The best I can do is capture souls and bring them to him to pass judgement."

"I see."
He said as he thought it over. Trying to see if he could make his Qi energy from his arm resonate with any energy in the body. It wasn't something he had ever tried, but he was trying it as he thought about his next move. Her answer didn't inspire much confidence.
"How good are you at holding onto souls? And can you put them back like your Father could?"

She would wait a few seconds before replying trying to catch his meaning.
"I can hold them for a while. Possibly thirty minutes to an hour."
A second later in would enter Anubis wearing his jackal mask and the old woman Hel. Both not looking too pleased.
"Whats this about Ares?" Anubis would ask.

"Hades has been taken from us in his own domain. And I intend to bring him back. But we require any wisdom the two of you can impart upon us."
He said with a bow of his head to both of the God's of Death. Both of them knew far more than he did about life and death. And it would be beyond foolish to rush into this without consulting them.

Hel would step forward at this. Her expression seemed concerned. As if she sensed Ares intentions.
"In death there are many things you must be prepared to lose, give up, and accept as an undeniable outcome. Let your pride control your choices and not even the powers of Hades would be able to pull you from the abyss you would surely fall into."
Anubis caught on at this.
"You intend to enter the afterlife?"

"Is there another way to bring him back?"
He asked in response to Anubis before turning to Hel.
"I understand. I do this not out of pride, but to right a wrong. Hades died for my desires and by my actions and lack of thought. It is my duty to see him returned if it is possible. I shall try to not let my pride guide me. And so I have humbly asked you here for whatever guidance you can impart on me for this task."
