The alarm went off and Kobu rose, opening his eyes. It was dark in his room, and he couldn't see his hand in front of his face. Sitting up and putting his feet over the side of the bed, Kobu rubed his face, trying to remember why he was up so early. he remebered he had gone to bed early last night so he could get up early this morning. That could mean only one thing. It was time for surfing.
Kobu got up and turned on a nearby lamp. Light flooded into his room and temporarily hurt his eyes. Looking at the alarm clock, he realized it wasn't even 5 A.M. yet. That was ideal. Quickly, he went into his dresser and pulled out his wetsuit. He put it on and let the fabric squeeze his body. It was uncomfortbale now, but once he got in the water, he would feel better. He put on a hodded sweatshirt and a pair of jeans over top of the suit, and walked out into the kitchen. He had programmed the coffee maker to be done by the time he got up, and it boy did it smell good. He took the pot and poured himself a hot, steaming mug of coffee. Kubo only drank coffee black. No sugar, no cream. He just needed something to wake him up.
Without waking Benn, Kubo walked into his room and grabbed his surfboard. He had bought it a couple months ago, and ever since, he had fallen in love with surfing. Every other weekend, he would get up early so he could go down to the beach and surf. It was best when you got there early so there were no tourists. Kubo had a nine foot long Mitsu longboard. He tried learning how to ride on a shortboard, but it didn't work out for him. He needed more room.
The sun was still just coming up when Kubo arrived. There was no one else in site, and the waves were choice. He had definately picked a good time to come. After he had waxed down his board, he tied it to his right foot, and set off in the water. While he was out there, he caught more waves than ever before. Riding goofy footed, like always, Kubo was managing moves he never thought of trying. Today was his day! He was on top of waves, in funnels, and even doing flips. If only someone else were here to see him, they'd be impressed.
