OOC: This thread takes place before Mathew's aging.
IC: It had been two days since his trip into the land of Titan's and to Mathew hardly twenty minutes had passed. He cursed the time he had lost simply because he did not know what may have happened since his absence. Opening the door to his home he was greeted with a glare that could make Bastille seem soft.
"Well look what the cat decided to finally drag in. It's a fine how do you do to grace us with your presence My Lord"
Gemini came out of seemingly nowhere with her finger wagging right under his nose. Her hair was put together in the tightest and neatest bun he had ever seen. It was a wonder it wasn't ripping out of her scalp. Despite himself, and the fact that this was his home he found himself on the defensive.
"Whoa. I know I said I would be right back. And I thought I would. But."
He was cut off by Gemini flicking his nose.
"TWO DAYS! YOU LEFT ME ALONE WITH SEAN BARKER WATCHING YOUR CHILDREN FOR TWO DAYS!!!!"
"It wasn't on purpose. Leon died and then-"
"TWO DAYS!" She continued and stepped forward causing Mathew to step back again, only slightly. Barker was no help. He was sitting in the corner of the living room. Smart enough to not get involved. He had just been left alone with Gemini for two days. He probably knew plenty to stay out of her way when she was like this.
"Now wait just a minute. First off, I can come and go as I please. Part of your job is watching the girls when I am off doing my job."
He took a step forward and Gemini didn't move. Instead she pursed her lips. Looking down at him still as their bodies pressed together.
"I still think you should have sent word. Sir." She said finally.
"And I would have, but where I was at time apparently moves at a different pace. From my perspective I was there twenty minutes. Give me a break, if anything I like to think I've shown I'm a pretty damn dedicated Father."
That seemed to shut Gemini up, even if she didn't like it. She was mostly upset out of principle at this point. She didn't like being left alone with Barker. And with Mathew gone he had been stuck in the house for his own protection.
"I'm going to go say hi to my girls. Why don't you make us all some tea and I will fill you in on exactly what happened. Alright Gemmy?"
She twitched but nodded.
"Yes Sir."
And with that Mathew left her and Barker to their own devices as he made his way upstairs to the girls rooms. Both of them sleeping peacefully in their cribs. He approached them silently and just spent a few minutes looking at his beautiful girls. And just how big they were getting. He couldn't believe that he was a Dad still. He half expected to wake up from this wonderful dream someday. But his lips pursed into a frown as he remembered the Afterlife and what he had done. Bastille and his girls had died by his actions. Not the real versions, but versions all the same.
"I'm sorry you two. You deserve better than me for a Father. But your Daddy loves you. I want you to always remember that. Even if he isn't around he is going to make sure that you are always safe."
He said softly. Evelyn stirring at his words but remaining asleep. Slowly leaning forward he would slide a necklace around the necks of both girls before planting a kiss on each of their foreheads.
"Always know that I'm watching over you girls..."
Mathew gains "Decedents of the Blood-Rite": This item grants irrevocable protection for the wearer, so long as the wearer is a decedent of Mathew Amtrum. The wearers CANNOT be killed, physically. They can only die of old age or other non-physical ailments. These necklaces can only be removed by the parents of the wearers.
