Silk drove into Crow territory and the news had gotten out. People lined the streets watching as she drove one of their wounded wolf pack leader home. Some craned their necks trying to see Marcus, but Silk rolled up her dark tinted windows. No one would see him like this if she could help it. Marcus was strong. He'd been the backbone for this place. He was their strength. If they saw him like this... No. Silk wouldn't let that happen. She drove into the compound and pulled into the garage. She flicked the lights on so she could see as the garage door to their home came down. She watched out the rear window to make sure no one tried to slip in. The garage door was down and Silk turned to let herself out. It was then she saw them.
Fox, Joe, Sleepy, Thistle, Bucket, Doc... They stood there. Looking at her. They had lost a lot. Now they wanted to see the damage that had become their leader. Silk opened her door.
"What the hell are you idiots doing here?"
She snapped and jerked her head towards the door.
"Get going."
They stood, silently staring, waiting. They could just barely see Marcus from their positions on the ground. Silk moved Bandit off her lap and jumped out of the truck. She approached them quick and angry. Her face inches from Fox's. The scarred woman stared back, not blinking.
"We deserve to see him."
She stated simply. Silk shook her head no.
"Not going to happen Fox. I need to take care of him and I can't do that with you guys cluttering up my space. Y'all should go."
"Silk all we w-"
"DO NOT MAKE ME MADDER THAN I ALREADY AM FOX!"
She snapped. A few of the members cringed a bit. Not so much because Silk was mad, she was always mad, but because of how loud she got with the acoustics in the garage.
"He doesn't deserve to be seen like this."
Silk said in a much calmer tone.
"Y'all are his pack... but when it comes down to it...I am pulling rank. I've been with him the longest, through more than any of you. I'm not going to let anything taint how y'all are supposed to see him. He is still pack leader. Understand?"
Silk was trying to preserve how people saw him, but she had never been good with talking to people. It was easier to have people mad at her than to have them understand her.
"Now... Get the fuck out of my garage..."
They were annoyed and probably angry, but they left. Silk was far more stubborn and she'd argue till she was blue in the face. It was easier to listen to her now and try again later when she had calmed down. She would stand there, watching them leave through the side door of the garage. Once the door was shut, she would yank the wheel chair from the bed of the pickup and set it up. She opened the passenger side door and climbed up into the truck to get him. She'd forgotten how hard it was to get him in, and didn't think about how hard it might be to get him out.
If she had been thinking more clearly, she might have let at least Fox stay to help her get Marcus out, but Silk always did things the hard way. She unbuckled him from the truck, threw his arm around her again and wrapped her arm around him again.
"Bare with me Marcus. I'll get you in bed soon enough."
She would drop herself down first and Marcus would come with, almost knocking her off balance. She quickly righted herself in order to not drop him. She put him in the chair as gently as she could.
"Sorry, this is going to be a rough ride till I get the hang of it."
She brushed some of his hair from his face. She would jump back into the car to grab the animals and stuff them in her purse. She once again set the purse on his lap and took out a scrunchy. She pulled his hair back, out of his face and tied it up in a ponytail.
"In we go..."
She shut and locked the truck, then wheeled him into the house. At first she struggled with getting the wheelchair over the step to get in to the house, but once they were in, it was smooth sailing, till she looked at the stairs to their bedrooms.
"...Fuck..."
With an annoyed sigh, she pulled Marcus from his wheel chair and began the trek up the stairs to her bedroom. Aiko, Bandit and Brenner followed carefully behind them. Aiko of course keeping the puppy from getting underfoot. After a few minutes, Silk laid Marcus in her bed and looked him over making sure he didn't have any new bruised and that she didn't rip any stitches.
