Silent Night Click. The young girl had just hung up on her brother as she walked towards the park. It was close to midnight, and she wanted - no, she needed - some fresh air. When it was finally given to her, she had the need to run, so she did. And now, here she was, drawing closer to the park, where memories of her childhood with Andrew flooded in. She wondered - did they ever find his body? Subconsciously, her footsteps brought her towards the swing set, where she sat on top of one of the swings, and pushed her feet gently against the sand, just enough to rock herself back and forth. She wondered - what would happen if Andrew came back? What would happened if he never died? The quiet, still night was no longer quiet when a flock of birds suddenly flew off into the sky, flapping their wings all at once, going into the opposing direction. The silent night was no longer silent when the bushes and trees made bristling noises, and animals and critters all over ran and hid. And then? The night was silent once more. That was...odd... ---- { Don't tell her.} " I won't, but if she finds out, she won't be happy." { I know that, but she can't know now. Not yet.} " Why not? Better now then never. You'd better spill before she gets over your death. The reactions will only get worse if you keep it a secret." { I know that, I know! Just... Trust me on this, alright? I'll tell her when the time comes. For now... For now, I think it's best if I stayed behind the scenes.} " You're an idiot, Andrew." { I know Reita. I kn-...} " ...What?" { ...Mitsi's here. I have to go.} Click.
He stepped out of the shadows, watching the girl draw closer and closer, until she finally sat on the swing. He was leaning against a tree, his black cap pulled over his eyes - his fingers playing around with the silver cross necklace given from Mitsuki when they were young - yet he was able to see the girls stature clearly, the moon bouncing off her figure, making her glow unnaturally. He had his arms crossed against his chest, and he smiled at himself. It had been a while since the two had spoken, seeing that everyone thought he was, well, dead. It's funny though, how he told his best friends brother instead of his best friend. He didn't want Mitsi to worry, and...to tell the truth, he wasn't sure how to tell her that he was Andy - or used to be. He goes by Andrew now. He gave a light smirk when a sudden gust blew by, causing small critters to move about, and he had the sudden urge to go sneak upon the girl and scare her, but he knew better. He couldn't face her, not now, but later... And when that was, he didn't know, but all he knew is that it had to be soon...
When she got up, he moved behind the tree, blending himself well with the shadows, yet still kept an eye on Mitsi, and made sure no one saw him. Tonight, he would make sure this school captain got home safe. Besides, what were best friends for?
----
Feeling something odd stir inside her gut, as if she were being watched, she gave a small sigh before getting up. It seemed as if it were time to go home now, yet, she decided to stop by a certain place before turning to go home. The ocean. He - Andrew - had been on her mind lately, more than usual, and she guessed it was his 'spirit' or whatever that was bothering her about it. You're probably confused? Well, since Mitsuki can't go to his grave, she would visit the ocean at night that was usually deserted, and just talk to the thin air there. He always liked water, which is why she went over to the ocean, and since this is California, it was pretty much open twenty-four seven if you knew how to sneak in. Usually, she'd visit every week, but due to a couple ... problems, she hasn't had the time to. Usually, she would bring white roses - pure - his favorite type of flower, but seeing as it was midnight, and there weren't any flower shops open...
Her footsteps echoed quietly through the night, and she walked two blocks, her left fingers giving an occasional twitch because she couldn't shake off that feeling that someone was stalking her. Following her as if she were some sort of...prey for the night. The echoes of her footsteps came to a halt when her shoes hit the small grainy sand, her feet sinking in an inch or so with every step. Not even bothering to take off her sneakers, she continued on until she came towards the water - yet was still on the dry sand - and sat down, taking in a quiet breath whilst the wind blew from south to west. Drawing in another breath, she parted her lips and spoke, her soft, quiet voice being muffled by her mask.
"So... Andy... It's been a while, hasn't it? How've you been...?"
A pause.
"Ah... ...I'm school captain of my high school... ...You must be pretty proud of me, right?..."
She stopped talking and remained silent, her left fingers giving another twitch, and now, she knew someone else was around the area she was in. She kept a straight face, staring at the moon for a moment, until she sharply turned her neck a bit off to her left, only to find an empty space. Yet...what's this? Something shiny was on the ground, the moons light being reflected upon, and curious, Mitsuki got up and slowly walked towards it, well aware that this could be some trap, yet what she saw was something she thought she wouldn't see. Ever.
A silver cross necklace - one that was given to her special friend. From her.
Bending down, she picked up the little jewel and looked around, as if searching for someone, but didn't find anyone - or anything. She was disappointed, and curious as to how this necklace got here. Perhaps it was a sign that Andy's body has been found? But...that still didn't make any sense. This necklace - where did it come from? Staring at the jewelery in her hand, she clasped it around her neck and tucked it underneath her sweater and shirt, her own necklace laying still with his on her neck.
----
Crap. She knew.
That's when the boy had to move and think quick, or else she would find him, and know who had been following her. As soon as he turned around and began running, something caught his eye - his necklace! He grit his teeth, but he had no time to go back for it. He'd come back later once she was gone, but until then, he needed to hide. And where he hid was off the beach and up into a tree, blending in well with the dark green leaves and the dark brown, almost black - in the dark, that is - branches. He had his eyes closed for a while, because of the suddenness that he had to move, he had to catch up with his breath. He wasn't ready for that. And when he re-opened his eyes, he saw Mitsuki walking away, probably back home. Once she was out of eyes view, he jumped down and headed onto the beach, looking all over for the necklace he had dropped, and frowned. Did he lose it?
Various curse words escaped his lips while he kicked the sand and anger flew in. Well - it was still dark outside, so he decided he'd come back once the sun began to rise, and start searching. If it was one thing he couldn't afford, it was the love that was put into that necklace to be given to him.
----"Where were you?"The sound of her brothers voice welcomed her ears the second she stepped into the apartment. Her eyes shifted towards Reita's, giving him a small glance before turning away from his gaze - no, glare - and slipping off her shoes before heading towards her bedroom. Reita called out her name, and she stopped walking, her head turned slightly to the side, yet he didn't say anything. Something was a bit odd, and she turned all the way around to face her brother, yet he just sighed and nodded his head, waving his hand slightly to the side, signaling the young dark, red haired girl to continue on. Mitsuki's bright fiery red hair was beginning to fade, and the color of her dark brown, almost black hair was beginning to take it's place.
Arching a brow, she turned on her heel and left to her room, closing the door quietly behind her and locked it with a small 'click'.
++++
While the young red haired girl analyzed the small necklace in the mirror, a whole mass of organized chaos went about in New York, and what she didn't know... Is that she'd be a part of it in due time.
The quiet whispers of the wind traveled wherever they wanted, and a lone boy stood outside the apartment complex, looking up at the building, his hands shoved into his pockets before whispering something under his breath." Have a silent night, Mitsi..."

Photograph The young girl woke up early on a Saturday morning, and already, only seven thirty, and she was up and about, walking around the park with a backpack slung over her shoulder. Inside the backpack, you would find her, scrapbook, a laptop, a USB cord for her digital camera, along with the black Kodak Easyshare V-Series camera itself. The camera was a going-away gift from her foster parents, who - one day - saw Mitsuki 'ogling' over it at the local electronics entertainment center. And, since Mitsuki promised to keep in touch with her two step-parents, they bought her a camera as a gift, and in return, she wrote them two, separate long letters, and forced her brother into writing as well. It wasn't easy - forcing her brother - but with the right amount of persuasion, she was able to get to him. Click...click...click...The dark red haired girl took pictures of almost anything, really, and then would delete all the pictures that weren't needed. So you might be wondering - why is Mitsuki taking pictures anyway? When she first woke up, Mitsuki just had a sudden urge she couldn't, she wouldn't, be able to describe. She hadn't touched her camera once after she left home, and so she went through the top drawer where all her junk was, and found her camera, and decided, why not? And on the bottom of her shelf was her scrapbook, and so she pulled that out as well, and grabbed her laptop, putting it inside her backpack as well as everything else. ---- I searched for the necklace all morning as soon as the sun began to rise, and I couldn't find it. That led me to be in a pissy mood where I was blinded by my own anger, and...well, let's just say I'm not too cool to be around with when I'm angry. I started making my way down to the local park, my hands shoved deep into the pockets of my black sweater, and when I arrived at the park, I just zoned everything out. The sound of the leaves, the birds... Everything. Leaning against the tree, my black hair just seemed to blow with the wind. It actually felt kind of good though, feeling the breeze cross against your face, just letting go of all the problems and worries...
It was blissful.
----
A boy.
That's the first thing she saw when she took out her camera from her bag. He was underneath a tree, his eyes closed, and she decided, why not use him as a model? Bringing the camera up towards her face, she zoomed in slightly, then clicked the button, then zoomed out again before taking another picture. The girl had a confused look on her face when she went through the pictures, zooming in slightly, because he looked familiar. She couldn't point it out, but his facial expression looked...
She shook her head slightly before looking up where the boy once stood, only to find him in front of her, a grim look on his face. Turning off her camera by pressing the small button next to the button where you take a picture, she took two steps back, observing the boy... It bothered her - who was he? Her eyes narrowed and she turned her head slightly, and all the boy did was smirk. And it drove her crazy. The next thing she knew, he bumped shoulders with her, and something was odd... Her hand subconsciously went up to her neck and found that she only had one of the two necklaces she had on previously, and immediately, she ran up to him and grabbed his wrist.
"....I'll need that necklace back..."
----The necklace...
On... Mitsuki's neck?
How'd she get it? Did she find it? I moved quickly, walking up speedily towards her, making haste until I was in front of her. She looked up, that curious look in her eyes... That same look from nearly years ago, when I stopped talking to her. But... That necklace was from her, and it was obvious she didn't know who I was... I could easily pickpocket her, and highly doubt she'll even notice. Subconsciously, a smirk pulled onto my face and I started walking, intentionally bumping into her right when I shifted my hand around the necklace and quickly yanked to the side in an angle, easily unhooking the chain and held it in my hands, and I kept walking...
Casual walking. And she wouldn't suspect-
Aww, fawk.
I twisted my arm unnaturally after I heard her, and planned on turning it around so my hand was on her wrist, and I pinned her arm to her back. I kept a firm grip and I leaned my chin up upon her head, giving a gentle sigh. No, I'm not going to rape her, but it's been a while since I've held the girl in my arms. She is, well, the one I'm in love with, the woman I have been in love with, since God knows how long...
"Thing is, I need this necklace too." ----
When his head was put on top of hers, passer-byers would have thought the two were walking like that - as a couple. Smart, but not smart enough. He may have gotten a hold of her, but if it was one thing that she could do, she could still kick. Shifting her leg slightly over to the right, she kicked the front part of his shins, where his grip only tightened against her wrist, and she kicked again, causing him to arch slightly forward, and elbowed him in the chest with her free arm, causing him to stumble backwards.
She didn't understand what he meant when he said he needed the necklace as well, and she only guessed that he was some kind of thug who wanted to sell the piece of jewelery for money and buy drugs or whatever he wanted with it. She narrowed her eyes and started walking towards him, tightening the gloves on her hands...
----This is where I got slightly nervous. I heard she got the title for school captain, so it was no doubt that she excelled in her fighting skills, but I have to remember, nearly half the things she knows now has been taught by me. This would be the time to see how good Mitsuki got, and how well off she'll be in the future...----
...
She lost him. He said he'd give the necklace back if she could catch him, but he was...fast. Unbelievably fast. She didn't know where he was anymore, nor did she know anything about him. But... She still had his picture on her camera, and would it be enough to possibly black mail him with it? But how? Where would she reach him? And the picture was actually pretty decent...
She gave a mental sigh.
I lost your necklace Andy... Forgive me?
She went back to her backpack, and pulled out her scrap book from her backpack, flipping through the pages until she landed on a ... certain picture.
Her and Andy.
He had that...smirk on his face. Taking out her camera, she went through the history and found a picture of him against the tree, and compared his facial structures to the one in the scrap book. The two looked as if they could be related, but certainly not the same person...right? Besides, what was she thinking? Andrew died a long time ago, and she was just hallucinating, right? Right. Closing the scrap book, she put it back into her bag along with the camera, and went back home and into her room, where she went to the blinds and shut them, pulling the curtains so that no light would go through, and climbed into bed.
It was still early in the morning.
Though, all she kept thinking about was that photograph...
"You can turn off the lights. You can climb into your bed. But you can't turn off your mind. You can't stop the pictures. And the next thing you know, you can never sleep again." - Sam from Slumming (Pg. 130)

Nightmares She couldn't sleep. It was horrible - her eyes were red from the lack of sleep, and her mind was troubled by everything that happened in the last couple of days. Her brother was acting normal, but she couldn't help but feel a wall between the two - they were twins! They were supposed to know everything about each other - but the way her brother acted, it seemed as if she already did know everything. But this feeling said so otherwise. And Andrew! Oh, Andrew! His necklace! She couldn't help but feel guilty for not feeling guilty that she lost his necklace. It was another feeling she got - as if the necklace would be safe with that person, and she felt guilty for thinking that since she didn't even know him! She groaned softly on her bed, a throbbing pain in her head every time she moved. She couldn't sleep, and even worse - it hurt to think. Every time she thought something, the room would spin, making her dizzy, and eventually, Reita came barging in, checking her temperature, and getting a damp, cool towel over her forehead and pressing his hands against her eyes. It was a twin thing - if Mitsuki felt pain, he felt pain. If Reita felt pain, then she did. It was like a bond they had - even though they were never really close, or friendly with eachother, they knew when the other needed a break, and gave it to them. "...Just rest, Mitsi... Just rest..."Mitsi? Her breathing relaxed, yet her mind kept going through an endless cycle of questions. Why did he call her by that childhood name? That name, where only he and Andrew would call her a long time ago, before Andy died? Why is he saying it now? What did he know that she didn't? And before she could press on any further, Reita must've known that she was still thinking and not relaxing, so he pressed a cloth against her mouth, where she inhaled chemicals and started falling asleep. Yet, his actions only made her even more curious. Why...?She thought, before falling into a peaceful slumber.
----I heard. Reita called and told me she was sick, and said not to come, but I couldn't listen to him. I was already up the stairs and in front of his door, my hand shaking uncontrollably in a fist. It was raised, as if to knock on the door, but I couldn't - I wouldn't. Reita said not to, and what Reita said was best for everything. Slowly, very slowly, I put down my fist back to my side, and unclenched my fingers from that tight mass of anger, and released a heavy sigh. Turning around, I slowly made my way down the stairs, until I heard a creek. Curious, I looked up, and I saw Reita, who motioned for me to go in. Excited and happy at the same time, I rushed in, taking off my shoes the minute I was inside and quietly crept inside of Mitsuki's room, where I saw her sleeping peacefully. She looked pale, and I sighed again.
"You should know that all this is happening because she's thinking too much?"
"...What's she thinking about?"
I was curious. I already knew what she was thinking about but... I wanted, no, I needed to hear it.
"You should know what she's thinking about. She mutters your name when she's asleep, for god's sake she can't go an hour without thinking about you!"
He was angry - angry that I was one who played a major role in his sisters agony. In her sickness. I couldn't look at him, so I looked away, off to the side, taking in what he said. That was not what I wanted to hear, but it was close enough.
"I'm sorry..."
I looked back over at Reita, to see if his expression was the same, but his anger was replaced by a frown, and I saw him shake his head. He parted her lips, but before he even said anything, I knew what he was going to say...
"Tell her when she wakes up before you regret it. I swear she'll hate you so much if you tell her after she finally gets over you. And I swear if you cause her any more misery, you're head will be mine."
His words were threatening, and I knew he meant what he said. Taking a gulp, I nodded - I would tell her soon...
...But now was not the time.----
Ugh...
Waking up with a huge headache, I pressed my palm against my forehead, or tried to, since a wet towel was in the way. My fingers grasped around the towel into a tight fist, and I chucked the towel to the door, a loud slam audible. The towel stuck to the door at first, then slowly dropped to the ground with a quiet 'plop'. I was half expecting my brother to come in anytime now, but until that time came, my mind was already working on what had happened in the last couple of hours. I was still in a bit of a daze, a slight headache still going on in my head, yet I was not oblivious to the fact that something completely odd was going on, and I intended to find out.
The door slowly creaked open, catching my attention, my sharp eyes slowly dragging themselves from item to item until it landed on a figure - a person. No... Two figures. People.
By then I was already sitting up, my hair brushed back to reveal the obvious blank look on my face as I stared at the second person, who seemed vaguely familiar. Oh, yeah. The guy at the park, who ran away with Andy's necklace. Reita knew the other guy - the other guy knew Reita? I was confused, though I hid the fact that I was. One might have thought that I would already know by now that Andy was this guy standing in front of me, but all I knew was that Andy was dead, so that wasn't possible. "..How are you feeling?"Reita's voice was steady, yet there was something about the way he looked at me that made me want to think twice before replying. The truth, or a lie? I stared at him, and he, too, stared back, and after moments ticking by and the other boy clearing his throat, he looked away. He looked away.
"Headache. Why is he here."
I nodded my head towards the direction of the boy who stood next to Reita, my question sounding more of a statement. The boy gave me a dry look, I noticed, from the corner of my eye, yet I kept my orbs focused more and more on my brother. He shifted his left leg onto his right, a clear sign of uneasiness, uncomfort, disturbed, and so on and so forth. Many said I was known to be an observer, but I disagree.
But before my brother could answer, the boy butt in."Ah, my name is Andrew. I believe we met at the park concerning the necklace, and I felt slightly guilty of taking it from you so I came to return it. Your brother looked a bit fishy and I didn't think I could trust him, so I asked if I could stay until you would wake up to personally give you.....this item."He unhooked the necklace from the clasp behind his neck during that little pause, and held it out for me to take. But the fact that he had the same name as Andy held my curiousity, and I stared at him for a moment. Turning my head a bit to the side, I turned to face Reita who had a blank look on his face, who was back to his normal self. I stared at the necklace in Andrew's hand, then nodded my head, signaling that he could keep it. I couldn't even know for sure if it was Andy's necklace, even if I just knew it was, I had no proof. Seeing as how I nodded, Andrew slowly clasped the necklace back around his neck, and I turned to look at the boy again.
"...What's your last name.""Haha, you see, I'm not sure. I was living off the streets since I was a boy, and I slowly forgot my last name over time." I just nodded - I was tired, and I didn't exactly want them in my room at the moment. So with two words, I fell back into bed and pulled the covers over my head.
"Get out."

Tonight Falling back down onto my bed, I sat there, staring up at the ceiling, a tidal wave repeatedly crashing against my head - or that's what it felt like. My eyes slid closed themselves, the house abnormally quiet, except for the quiet murmures in the apartment that I heard clearly. The vents for the heating and air conditioning were all connected, and when quiet enough, you could hear anything in the other rooms. Like when your in a quiet place with a clock, you can hear it ticking. I sighed quietly to myself, trying to fall asleep, yet found myself eavsdropping on their conversation. It was wrong, I know, but I couldn't really fall asleep without anything to knock me out. Like Tylenol, or something. "...you should've just told her the truth."
"...I think it's better off if she doesn't know who I am."
"She'll find out eventually.
"..not now. She has a headache, I don't want to make it worse."After hearing this, it wasn't hard putting two and two together. His name was Andrew - the same thing as my childhood friend - he had the same necklace as him, and he was going to tell me "soon" of who he really was. The room started spinning in one direction, and it suddenly got hard to focus on one particular thing. This odd emotion started to build up inside of me, one that I wasn't really sure of. Then again, there are a lot of emotions I don't understand. The basics I knew - happy, sad, mad... But anger is a whole different thing. Joy. Frustration. Depression.. Synonyms, yes, but...they were different.
Andrew was right; my headache got worse after hearing what they said. Grabbing my second pillow on the bed, I pressed it against my face, nearly suffocating myself. Pulling it away, I opened my eyes and stared at the door, which seemed to be on a tilt. Actually, this whole room looked as if it were tilting to the right, then to the left, as if this were a teeter totter at those playgrounds.
Getting up from bed, walking towards the door in a bit of a sway, I pulled it open, grabbing the attention of the two guys.
"Shut up, I can hear you in my room."
The two must've froze because the look in their eyes, but them swaying back and forth nearly convinced me that they were moving in place. Or was it just me? Moving towards the kitchen, a number of thoughts ran through my head that had nothing to do with the two guys in this apartment. Like, is this what it feels like to be drunk?
Opening one of the cabinets, I grabbed the little case of Advil and popped one onto my hand, before closing the top and putting it back. My brother magically stood behind me and I couldn't help but wonder... I thought he was in the livingroom? He grabbed a glass of water for me and I drank the water and swalled down the small pill. Walking back towards my room, I stopped for a moment, looking over at Andrew, a cold gaze being directed at him.
"You should know that I hate liars."
With that, I moved into my room and locked the door, collapsing on my bed, asleep.
----"...I know my sister best. She's changed a lot over the years.""...I noticed." I muttered quietly, disappointed that this was nothing like those Korean drama's, where the girl would come running to the guys arms. Then again, I had to correct myself.. We weren't lovers. Never were, and seeing as I messed this up, we never will be. It was hard watching Mitsuki call me a liar; even though she didn't say I was a liar, it was obviously directed towards me. I looked over at Reita, who's head was turned away from me. I could tell he was disappointed that I didn't tell her earlier, and because I kept this a secret for so long, and because Reita was in on it, I may have also broken the trust between the two twins. "I'm sorry..." "Don't apologize to me. Apologize to my sister, and see if she forgives you." So that's what I did. I knocked on her door, but recieved no reply back, so I assumed it was okay to go in. Opening the door, I saw Mitsuki laying on her bed fast asleep, and I smiled to myself. She must've been that sick to fall asleep so fast... Walking in further, leaving the door slightly ajar so Reita wouldn't have to worry about what I do with her, I picked her up with ease and set her back on the bed properly, and covered her with the bed sheets. My hand brushed against her face lightly, moving her hair to the side, clearing her face. I grabbed her chair and sat down on it, just watching her sleep. My hand pressed against her forehead, and pulled back after a while - it was hot, she had a fever. Getting up, I walked out of her room and into a closet where I found a small hand towel, and went into the bathroom, wetting it with cool water and squeezed all the exess water out. Folding it in half, I walked back into her room and placed it on her forehead, hoping she'd cool down. "I'm sorry." While sitting next to her bed, watching over her, a sudden urge to sleep came over me, and I rested my head on the edge of her bed, fast asleep. ----
When I woke up, I felt a cold, half wet towel on my forehead. Taking it off, I felt another presence near, but when looked off to the side, there was no one. Something was different about my room - the scent. For some reason, this scent brought a nice feeling inside - a sense of tranquility. Pulling myself up, I noticed that I no longer had a headache, and walked out of my room, noting that it was opened ajar, meaning someone came in while I was sleeping. I clearly remembered closing the door..
Before I walked out, I just then noticed something shine against my eye on my desk. Silver. A necklace - Andy's. Walking over, I picked it up and held it in the air, the sun aluminating in the background. Was this his way of apologizing...? Grasping the necklace, I pulled on my mask and brushed through my hair with my fingers before pulling on a sweater and headed out the door, shoes halfway on to find where Andrew was. I would head off to the beach, where I first met that S.O.B...
..but when I arrived..
He wasn't there. Where to go now? Sitting on the damp sand, I looked up at the sky, holding onto his necklace...
